Are Drones that Significant?
Technology will always be in a motion of progress, it is quite inevitable. However, it
should not be in the process of taking the privacy of ones fourth amendment rights who do not
want anything to do with it. One of the biggest breakthroughs in the technological revolution
are drones which are a new extension in the aviation industrys future as well as commercial air
travel. Drones do possess the qualities of becoming a great asset to many Internet based
commerce retailers like Amazon and it is quite useful in helping in danger civilians like missing
or lost people, therefore being a tool of great assistance therefore it should be retained. However,
a persons property should be ones safe haven where it holds the safety of a family and an
isolated part from the rest of society and a drone threatens that peaceful way of living. In
essence, people should be allowed to prevent drones from flying over their property to unknown
consequences that comes to ones life and the fact that it is not a significant breakthrough in
aviation in part it is that necessary in other aspects of a persons life.
People should fear the power of the drones and those that possess them because it can be
considered a correlation to a persons basic instinct: the fear of the unknown. The reason for such
a comparison is the fact a person can never tell what part of their lives is being watched through
the lenses of a drone and by whom. The drones can be used in a possible manner to see aspects
of someones life that is behind closed doors and share them with its owner that can use such
information to whatever they might desire. Creating a relationship to someone elses tool can be

seen similarly to Googles approach to advertising where it sold its products, the customers, to
the advertisers by giving them information on what sites customers searched and what ads
worked or not through algorithmic solutions. As Siva Vaidhyanathan states, The Googlization of
everything entails the harvesting, copying, aggregating , and ranking of information about and
contributions made by each of us (Gleick 2011). In other words, Vaidhyanathan that giving
technology an opportunity to peek into our lives will allow us to be unknowingly be pursued by
those who we total strangers and I agree with his notion since people could see this harmless. But
in take in the theory that if Amazon used such methods whenever doing a delivery and takes in
any information that could they find which in turn could be used to put on a more efficient ad
that they could use to lure a person when they search the site the next time. Already our personal
information are in the hands of many like your credit card companies knowing the amount of
times you purchased and what in a certain period of time, which merchants can then use to keep
to know what to sell to you, and the government collecting your private records through many
sites and media outlets (Solove 103). Peoples personal information are already in the hands of
many people without consent so allowing drones to come to a persons private property without
their consent has the potential to create the same end results.
The use of drones can be a move forward in what many consider an innovation in the
delivery infrastructure, however it is not a significant impact in the delivery system and might
have more problems associated with it than the normal delivery truck. What many innovators and
possibly many consumers hope in the future for drones is being air carrier that can deliver
products in a shorter amount of time than current delivery schedules like same day deliveries or
in 30 minutes, and even though it is a good possibility for many it is not that should be
compromised with for ones privacy or private property and it not something that should be said

yes to through a collective as Ryan Cola states to leave the future of drones to individual
homeowners is inefficient and unwise (Should You Be Allowed to Prevent Drones From Flying
Over Your Property?, 2016). I think Cola is mistaken because he should realize that it is not a
collective paying for the mortgage and bills for the property but an individual who might be
worried about others peeking in his house. There is also the danger the drones faces with birds
the type of weather it might face on the delivery day so might need to postpone that same day
delivery. It is better for deliveries, especially costly ones, to be sent through the postal services
and delivery trucks like FedEx. Drones is just a needed part in the world and the current system
is not that problematic. Maybe it is the sympathy for the Better-Nevers who in this case I put my
affiliation due to drones not be that useful and the problems that such delivery method faces in
part of natural causes, but drones cannot be allowed access to private property because of time
saved. Better-Nevers, which Adam Gopnik assess, believe that the world that is coming to an
end is superior to the one that is taking its place[and] create private space for minds(Gopnik
2011) and I agree in that regard in this situation with drones since we have good delivery systems
already in place with no problems wanting a communitys attention
As already mentioned the continuation in technology advancement may bring an
inevitable need to bring in the drones, but with the individual and his or her consent before all
else. Calo mentioned that it should be the collective choice to bring innovation that can produce
good results with the addition of drones in society like helping police finding lost children which
is fine and though i concede to the fact that it is useful in that regard, I still insist that it should
take away private property rights since police can use drones such as they use police dogs to sniff
for evidence with warrants and when it comes to the air carrier situation it should be done as
Professor Froomkin states where implied consent to deliveries with full knowledge of the

restrictions and what goes like the postal service or else GPS-related drones can be used in public
roads(Should You Be Allowed to Prevent Drones From Flying Over Your Property?, 2016) and
I agree with him in that extent, but there is also the option having drones to exchange between
different postal services from other states or cities.
The integration of drones into the threshold of society is not quite the worst to afflict the
private of the people, however it can allow us to put down a barrier to how many have access to
ones personal life. The progress of aviation technology should not deviate or distract the
consumers attentions from the disintegration of ones Fourth Amendment rights. Technology
moving forward is not a bad thing, however the introduction of drones to delivery is not
significant leap for the current system already available and can be harmful to ones privacy.
