EXPERIMENT 1: HEAT CONDUCTION TRAINER APPARATUS

Introduction
Steady-State Thermal Conduction Through A Wall
Thermal conduction is the molecular transfer of heat in solid under the influence
of a temperature difference. The maintenance of the transfer of heat by the
continuous supply of heat is the commonest form of steady state thermal
conduction. The quantity of heat Q flows through the cross section of the solid
body over time t in a steady state in accordance with Fouriers law. The cross
sectional area is considerably larger than the peripheral area.

wall is a straight line.
The flow of heat due to the conduction of heat is described by the following
equation:
Q = ka

L

Q = The rate of conduction of heat transfer, W

K = Thermal conductivity, W/m.K
A = Area, m
T = Temperature, K
L = Distance, m

Procedures:
1. The experiment study bench was set up for linear conduction test using
brass.
2. The water supply was opened at the inlet valve.
3. The water flow outlet has been collected in the reservoir.
4. The SCADA system was ensured to be ready to record the data.
5. The heater power supply was switched on. The heater power was set to
30W.
6. The data was recorded until stability have been achieved.
7. The test was repeated by using stainless steel and
