Lesson title: Introduction to the Holiday Concert
Objective: Students will get a general idea of
what the Holiday program will look and sound like.
Instructional activity: Run each piece and
rehearse a couple spots in each (roughly 15
minutes on each piece)
o Journal: Have the students write about
their experience with the Holiday season.
Do they celebrate a certain Holiday? How
do they celebrate? If they do not, have
them write about a time when they did
celebrate something. How can these
experiences relate to the music that will be
played over the course of this unit? (i.e.,
Are there instances in the music where it
sounds like a festival is happening? Can
you imagine this music playing along to
any of the celebrations? etc.)
