Consultation Procedure page 95
Relate this to the effect it has on the structure and function of the skin
and set a treatment programme for home and professional treatment
in the clinic.
photographic records
Good photographic records are essential in proving the condition of
the client’s skin and the effect of the treatment. It leads to a higher
estimation and credibility of the product, treatment and skin treatment
profession.
patch testing
Any concern regarding a history of product/ingredient allergies can be
supported with patch testing. The products in question must be placed
individually on the clients neck or on the inside of the upper arm and
covered with medical tape for 1 hour. Monitor the skin for any possible
manifestations such as erythema, in ammation or itching within the
next 24 hours.
medications
ANTIBIOTICS Causes skin sensitivity and rashes may develop. Skin may be dry and
flaky, lack radiance. Clients may also have a lowered immune system.
Treat accordingly.
CORTISONE Prescribed to calm ammation. Causes poor healing. Clients prone to
bruising. Avoid chemical peels and extractions.
ACCUTANE Toxic dose of vitamin A, prescribed for cystic acne.
(systemic) Causes severe skin dryness and skin sensitivity. Avoid AHAs and TCA
during this period. Skin is very easily irritated.
SMOKING Causes skin asphyxiation and poor blood supply making skin appear dull and
sallow. Smoking also depletes Vitamin C impairing healing and contributing to
the breakdown of fibroblasts. Free radical formation can aggrevate
hyperpigmentation.
WATER INTAKE Plain, preferably purified water aids in elimination of impurities and hydrates
the entire body internally. 6-8 glasses a day.
MALE CLIENTS Recommend the VITRU men’s range of products. Avoid products with
ingredients that lead to skin irritation, ingrown hairs and folliculitis.

Procedure:
Spray the face and neck with Toning Mist. Remove eye make-up and lipstick.
Wipe away any residue with Eye Lotion and blot.
Cleanse the face and neck with appropriate cleanser.
Tone with the appropriate toner and blot.
Apply Facial Scrub and gently massage in. Rinse off.
Spray with Toning Mist and blot.
Apply the appropriate mask.
Apply Lip Balm. Apply eye pads soaked in Eye Lotion.
Massage hands with Hand and Nail Cream.
After 10-15 minutes remove eye pads, rinse off mask.
Spray with Toning Mist and blot.
Complete the treatment by applying eye care and a suitable day cream.

Procedure:
Apply Body Scrub to the area that needs treating and massage for a few minutes.
The client may now shower or the Body Scrub may be removed with towelling mitts and warm water.

Apply Kyoto Oil to the area to be treated and massage firmly for about 30 minutes. If the thighs are
being treated, work on the fronts of the legs, turn the client over and work on the backs of the legs and
buttocks.
Blot away any excess oil and tone again with Toner. Blot.
Complete the treatment by applying Body Therapy Gel to the area that has been treated, massaging

Please note: This treatment may be adjusted to incorporate G5. Use before applying any products to
the skin and extend the treatment time to 1 hour.
Procedure:
Apply Facial Scrub and gently massage into the bust and upper chest. Rinse off with warm water.
Tone the area with Toner and blot.
Apply Fiji Oil if stretch marks are present and massage in, extending to the neck and around the
shoulders using the method taught on Body Training Day.
Wipe away any excess oil and apply Hydrating Mask to the area. Leave on for 10-15 minutes.
Massage the scalp during this period.
Rinse off the mask with warm water.
Spray with Toning Mist and blot.
Complete the treatment by applying Neck and Bust Cream to the area.
N.B: Advise clients to use Neck and Bust Cream and Toning Mist daily as a home care routine.
Procedure:
Apply a small amount of Body Scrub and gently massage into the back to deep cleanse and exfoliate.
Rinse off.
Tone the area with Toner and blot.
Apply a hot compress that has been immersed in a bowl of hot water containing 1-2 drops of Tea Tree
Essential Oil. Proceed by following the method taught on the Body Training Day. Remove comedones,
