occupations and transportation (wooden canoes) of American
Indians.

Shared writing after book/learning for the day. Highlighting
the occupations and natural resources used by the Powhatan
Indians.
Have students draw a picture to go with writing for the day
colors to match true colors (to go with non fiction writing
piece)
Assessment: writing, drawing, labeling, coloring of Powhatan
occupations and resources
Differentiation:
Students can write their own writing piece about Powhatan
occupations and resources (based on readiness for this task)

Used shared writing piece as a resource for students to keep
and refer to throughout the unit.
