Eastern Woodlands, the Lakota of the Plains, and the

Discussion Questions:
What materials were used to make a longhouse?
What materials are used to make houses today?
How man people could live in a longhouse?
How many people do you have living in your own house?
How many rooms are in a longhouse?
How many rooms are in your own house?
What types of rooms are in houses today?
Talk about the natural resources used to build longhouses.
Bark and reed. Students make small models of the
longhouses using these resources.
Students will write or orally present an explanation about
their long house. Including its geometric shape, how many
people it houses, important features, etc.
Assess: Students longhouse model and longhouse writing
synopsis.
Differentiation:
Students can choose resources to make longhouse model and
how they choose to talk about their creation.
