PROJECT BACKGROUND

The Kwale Gas Plant Flaredown Project which was awarded to Amazon Energy
Limited involves the upgrading of the existing Kwale Gas Plant in order to recover
the associated gas currently flared!. The scope includes the procurement and
installation of atmospheric compression units and electric motor driven compressor
packages
IPgrupp Engineering is being invited to tender for field based electrical
survey/testing services on the existing electrical facilities.
The document provides a summary of our technical & commercial proposal to
execute identified works

2.0

IPGRUPP ENGINEERING PROPOSED SCOPE

IPgrupp Engineering shall provide all requisite Personnel and Equipment to

adequately perform the following field services:

Electrical resistance test on specified existing electrical systems namely

1. Electrical Switchgear or Panel Electrical Earth Bar
2. Telecommunications Tower Electrical Earth Bar
3. Equipment Skid Electrical Earth Bar
4. Instrument Panel Electrical Earth Bar

WORK METHOD PLAN

The resistance of an earth electrode is heavily influenced by the resistivity of the

soil in which it is driven and as such, soil resistivity measurements are an important
parameter when designing earthing installation. Resistivity testing for this site
aims to obtain a set of measurement which may be interpreted to yield an
equivalent model for the electrical performance of the earth seen by the existing
electrical systems
The test method proposed for these field measurement was the fall of potential 3
point Method engaging three electrodes at required spacing thru the use of field
calibrated Earth resistance measurement meter.
Care was taken to avoid misleading inaccurate reading due to interference from
power lines, mutual coupling of electrode cable reels or incorrect electrode spacing.
Several measurements at identified points were performed for each electrical
system to obtain statistical screening of incorrect data and provide a weighted
average earthing resistivity for each electrical system under test.
OBSERVATIONS
It was well observed that each equipment skid has their various and respective
Earthing system.
The earth resistance value for each skid were carefully taken and recorded as
tabulated in the attached document and their respective photographs numbered pix
1-16.
The equipment skid with high resistance values at the new plant area are:

Knock out drum

Instrument panel area

Telecommunication / Radio mast
