Ms. Lauren Schechtman
Associate Director for Integrated Support Services
The College Crusade of Rhode Island
134 Thurbers Avenue
Providence, RI 02905
Dear Ms. Schechtman:
As you may recall, I was the communications intern for The College Crusade of Rhode Island during the
summer of 2016, supervised by Karen Donovan in the Communications department. The opportunity to engage
with each staff member of the organization was insightful and informative; I valued my time with the
organization. Additionally, I am a proud alumnus of the organization, encouraged to pursue more professional
opportunities like the position of a middle school advisor. Enclosed is a copy of my resume for the position. I
believe that my experience and skills meet the qualifications you seek, and I would be most interested in
discussing them with you in detail.
My part-time employment with The College Crusade of Rhode Island, as a middle school mentor for the
Crusade Adventure & Academic Program (CAAP), has allowed exposure to the environment and the
community that the organization serves. I grew up in Providence, so I understand the struggles that crusaders go
through. Being a mentor has also allowed me to naturally assume a leadership role by facilitating large and
small group activities and post-activity discussions. Through this position, I have also strengthened my skills in
time management and multi-tasking. I consider myself to be very dedicated and passionate in everything I do.
In addition, I enjoy interacting with the students, because I know that the impact my influence will have that
will ultimately help guide my students.
As a Communication Studies major, with a minor in Public Relations, I have developed clear and concise
writing skills, strong communication skills, and substantial interpersonal skills. I am extremely enthusiastic
about the idea of becoming a middle school advisor and believe that I can be an asset to the organization. Thank
you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,

Deborah Sareth
