Don Quixote Final Project

Don Quixote Final Project (Choose one or more)
Reenact a favorite scene from the
novel including costuming, scenery,
and props. (You may also make a
video, puppet show, or movie of your
reenactment)

Draw a map of Spain. Considering all

that you have read, find the places
mentioned and mark them on the
map. Your final map should trace
Don Quixotes travel route, and
include information about what part
of Quixotes adventures happened in
each specific area.

Do some research about inns in Spain

(during the Spains Renaissance and
present day). You may be surprised to
find that some of them existed in
Cervantes era and are still in use
today! Be sure to include information
about the paradores, which are
government-owned inns and hotels,
and about the posadas and
abergues. Make a poster or
PowerPoint with your researchinclude your cited resources!

Create a poster of an invention, which

would help you to steal something
from someone without their knowing
it, just as the clever Gines did with
Dapple. Then, write an owners
manual to accompany your inventionmake sure to include a full, poster
board sized, labeled illustration.

Pretend that you are Rocinante, but

that you can talk! Since you are
always with him, retell about your
most interesting adventures (chapters)
from your point of view (you may do
this in a diary entry, a whole new
novel, with a different title, or in
another creative way).
Imagine that you are undertaking the
same adventures as Don Quixote,
create a travel itinerary and provisions
list for your journey. Consider how
you will be traveling and how you
will carry your materials. Since you
wont have room to take everything,
you will need to choose carefully!
Write a comprehensive list of what
you plan to bring and why it is vital
for all the adventures you will
encounter. Then, make a poster
showing what items you included to
accompany your paper.
Make an illustrated poster of the
recurring characters (anyone who is a
main character or returns throughout
the book) of the novel. Poster should
include: a labeled illustration of each
character, and a short explanation of
their character traits, and the roles
they play when they recur.

Write a radio play in which the

audience hears the action of one of
Don Quixotes battles/ adventures.
Your play should have multiple
characters -all with clearly different
voices and characterizations. Record
your play, including sound effects,
and create a brief explanation of the
characters, setting, and events that
your class will hear.

Most people associate windmills with

Holland, rather than Spain. Do
research (citing your sources) to find
out more about windmills and their
traditional and modern uses. Then,
make a model of a windmill to
display with the results of your
research.
See what you can find out about
medical practices in Cervantess time.
What sorts of medicines did people
have? What herbs were used for what
illness? What was the role of barbers
in that time? What were some
common ideas about illnesses? Make
a poster or PowerPoint answering
these questions- include your research
resources!

Write an original story or skit, in

which several characters are members
of a special chain gang composed of
students who did something wrong at
school. Each character must tell, in
his or her own words, why he or she
has been condemned to the galley
ship. The class must decide whether
each character is innocent or guilty.
E.g.: one student may say that the
teacher condemned him to the chain
gang for not doing his homework,
when in fact, he did but the dog
ate it. See what you can come up
with!
Pretend to be one of the country girls
who had an encounter with Don
Quixote. Give an account of what you
tell your family and friends about
what happened today when you ran
into a couple of crazy men. This can
be done as a re-written chapter from
the girls perspective.
