How to Apply for Admission to inlingua English Schools

inlingua uses the same admission criteria for all applicants. There are three options for you to apply to study with
inlingua. All applicants must complete and submit an inlingua Application for Admission, which includes detailed
program terms and conditions.
All nonimmigrant students with or applying for an F-1 visa or F-1 status (initial attendance, transfer in, or change
of status) must complete an inlingua I-20 Application Form and submit supporting documentation in addition to
the program application. The Form I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant [F-1] Student Status) will only
be issued to those applicants who meet our admission requirements and submit the required documentation.
Option 1: Apply at an inlingua English School
You can contact one of our center locations by telephone, by e-mail, or in person to apply to any of our
programs. You will need to complete all applicable applications based on your desired program of study
(including the I-20 Application Form if you are a nonimmigrant student).
Your submitted application(s) will be evaluated for completion and program eligibility according to
inlinguas admission policy by qualified inlingua admission personnel. After acceptance, the center
administration will guide you through the final registration process and provide you with acceptance
materials.

Option 2: Apply on our Website with the Enroll Now! Feature

You can apply to any of our programs easily by using our secure online enrollment form. Within five (5)
business days after electronic submission and successful payment, your enrollment will be evaluated for
program eligibility according to inlinguas admission policy by qualified admission personnel. If applicable,
you will also be provided the I-20 Application Form.
A decision will be made when all forms and documentation have been received. After acceptance, the
center administration will guide you through the final registration process and provide you with
acceptance materials. If you have trouble with the website, you can apply with Option 1 or Option 3.

Option 3: Book with an Authorized inlingua Agent

inlingua has a team of professional agents across the globe who recruit students on our behalf. If you are
booking with one of our agents, you will still need to complete all applicable program applications
(including the I-20 Application Form if you are a nonimmigrant student).
Your completed application(s) will be forwarded to us and evaluated for program eligibility according to
inlinguas admission policy by qualified inlingua admission personnel. An admission decision will be made
within five to ten (5-10) business days after inlingua receives your application(s) with all required
supporting documentation. Your acceptance materials will be sent to the agent soon after the admission
decision is made. Payment terms are determined by your agent; however, our cancellation and refund
policies still apply. Final admission into our program will be determined when you report to school.

These instructions are provided to help you understand the application and registration process. The information
provided here does not replace inlinguas Terms and Conditions of Admission. For complete information about your
programs admission requirements, rules, and refund policies for tuition and optional student services, please see the
terms and conditions included in the application package or contact inlingua for assistance.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ADMISSION

VALIDITY AND LEGALITY
The school may be referred to as inlingua, inlingua English School(s), or inlingua School of Languages in this Application for Admission
and all other supporting documents. The fees, terms, and conditions of admission apply to all TL2 courses starting in 2013 and are valid
until further notice. They supersede all previous terms and conditions and are subject to the laws of the State of Florida. Only this
English version is legally binding.
INTENSIVE ENGLISH PROGRAM APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
inlingua English Schools is a language school authorized by the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Student and
Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) to enroll nonimmigrant students (F-1 visa). The DHS regulations and federal laws (which inlingua
adheres to) determine whether nonimmigrants with visa classes other than F-1 who desire to study for recreational purposes are
allowed to do so. Such nonimmigrants may be eligible to enroll and study in one of the TL2 programs full-time, part-time, or not at all,
depending on the visa status. inlinguas TL2 English Experience Plus, TL2 Business Advantage, and TL2 Summer English Adventure are
intensive English programs that comply with federal laws for students studying on an F-1 visa. inlinguas TL2 English Experience, TL2
Business Experience, and TL2 Summer English Escape are English programs that do not meet the requirements for students studying on
an F-1 visa.
All inlingua TL2 intensive English programs are specifically designed for non-native English Speakers; native English speakers are not
eligible for admission. Applicants may be required to complete an English proficiency test administered by inlingua before being granted
admission to a program. Applicants may not enroll for a course with a lower level than their current level of proficiency as determined
by inlingua. Applicants (or their parent or legal guardian if under the age of 18) must complete and sign the inlingua Application for
Admission and mail, deliver, or e-mail the completed form and applicable fees to inlingua (see inlingua Application for Admission and
Price List for details). All applicants must be at least 16 years of age to be accepted into the program.
ACCEPTANCE AND CONFIRMATION
An inlingua administrator will provide accepted students a written Letter of Acceptance as confirmation of the course upon receipt of all
required application documents and fees. Final admission is determined by an authorized inlingua administrator before commencement
of a course of study. In the event that inlingua does not grant final admission to an accepted applicant because we have determined
that the student does not fully meet program admission requirements (see inlingua Admission Policy for details), all moneys paid by the
student will be refunded in full (may occur with direct website enrollments and agent bookings).
HOLIDAYS AND UNAVOIDABLE CLASS CANCELLATION
inlingua publishes a yearly program schedule, which includes the start and end dates of all academic quarters as well as a list of official
program holidays and breaks, a copy of which has been provided to the student. No tuition refunds or make-up classes will be provided
as a result of A) classes not held due to holidays or breaks or B) classes cancelled due to severe weather or other acts of God beyond the
control of inlingua. See TL2 Price List and program schedule for details, including exact dates for program holidays and breaks.
TL2 CLASS SCHEDULES AND ATTENDANCE
TL2 courses are based on a fixed weekly class schedule. There is no guarantee that a course will have the same instructor for the entire
academic quarter or a students entire course of study with inlingua. Students must attend classes according to the school schedule for
the academic quarter(s) or week(s) for which the students have enrolled. All courses offered are subject to availability. In the unlikely
event that a students course is not available for the students desired program start date, then the student will be placed in the most
suitable course available or be deferred to a later start date. Daily and weekly attendance is formally tracked. Where applicable,
students must attend classes each week in line with the minimum and maximum study hours as set by federal immigration law
pertaining to their visa status.
Students who miss more than 45 minutes of any class session due to tardiness or early departure will be deemed to have incurred an
unexcused absence unless the tardiness or early departure is due to a properly documented illness, injury, or other emergency. In order
for students to receive credit for attending a class session, they must arrive within the first forty-five minutes of the session and must
not leave before the session ends. No partial credit for attendance will be awarded.
In order to pass a graded TL2 course, students must attend at least 75% of all scheduled class sessions. Students who do not attend at
least 75% of all scheduled class sessions (not counting excused absences) will automatically fail the course and must repeat the course
during the next term.
QUARTERLY ASSESSMENT OF STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT AND REPORT CARDS
In graded TL2 courses, student achievement is formally assessed at the end of each academic quarter by the inlingua Achievement Test
tied to the course and level. Students who achieve a passing score on the test tied to their course have successfully achieved the stated
student learning outcomes. Students who fail the test will automatically fail the course and must repeat the course during the next
term. Students must both attain a passing score on the test and meet the minimum attendance requirement (described above) in order
to progress to the next course and level, subject to the maximum period of study. All TL2 students will receive an official report card at
the end of each completed academic quarter.
ACADEMIC PROBATION
At the end of an academic term, students who fail to achieve a passing score on the final test, pass but fail to meet the minimum
attendance requirement, or fail to demonstrate acceptable improvement in oral proficiency in accordance with the programs
Satisfactory Student Progress policy will be deemed to have not made satisfactory progress and be placed on academic probation.
Students who fail to make satisfactory progress for two consecutive academic quarters will be disenrolled and not permitted further
enrollment in any inlingua program.
MISSED CLASSES
No cancellation or rescheduling of group classes is permitted. A group class missed is a class lost. No refunds are issued for missed group
classes even if the absence is considered excused.

July 2013

SCHOOL-SPONSORED FIELD TRIPS, ACTIVITIES, AND EXCURSIONS

Off-site field trips, activities, and excursions may be offered to students as an optional component of the course. Participation in such
activities is completely optional and voluntary. Any student wishing to participate in school-sponsored field trips, activities, and
excursions must first complete and sign a Waiver of Liability form. Availability varies by center location and students may be charged
fees to participate or be responsible for covering activity related expenses (e.g., movie tickets, food and beverages, souvenirs, etc.).
COURSE AUDITING (NOT AN OPTION FOR F-1 VISA HOLDERS)
At the time of enrollment (or within the first four weeks of an academic term), students may elect to enroll in any TL2 course as an
auditor. Auditing a course means that the student has enrolled in the course and may attend classes as desired (subject to the program
calendar and daily class schedule), but that the student is not required to comply with the regular attendance requirement or take
scheduled examinations. For each completed academic quarter, auditors will receive a report card that indicates their language
proficiency level and the phrase Audit instead of a grade. Students who have elected to audit a TL2 course and desire to switch to a
graded course must do so within the first four weeks of the academic term; otherwise, they must wait until the beginning of the next
academic term. Auditors will not receive a Certificate of Achievement. Student transcripts, if requested, will indicate that the student
audited the course.
PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITY
Students (and their parents or guardians, if applicable) expressly agree that the students photographs, quotations, likenesses, and
details of achievements may be used for promotional purposes without written consent or notification. inlingua will not attempt to sell
any student information to an outside party.
LIABILITY
inlingua (and its representatives) shall not be held liable in the event that services to be provided to the student are not provided for
reasons beyond the absolute and direct control of inlingua (and its representatives). Furthermore, inlingua (and its representatives)
shall not be liable for any loss, damage, illness, or injury to persons or property however caused, except where such liability is imposed
by statute.
INSURANCE
inlingua does not require students to have health insurance. It is each students responsibility to obtain health and any other insurance
deemed necessary by the student. It is the students responsibility to research and evaluate any insurance policy referred by inlingua;
however, inlingua makes no claims or guarantees regarding such insurance. inlingua will facilitate health insurance for students only
upon written request made at the time the student submits the Application for Admission and receipt of the non-refundable payment in
full prior to the commencement of classes. Although inlingua may recommend and/or facilitate insurance companies and policies, such
coverage is provided by a third party that assumes sole responsibility for administering such coverage, including premium payments and
refund policies (if any).
SCHOOL AND PROGRAM RULES AND REGULATIONS
inlingua publishes school and program rules and regulations to maintain high quality standards and a professional scholastic
environment for its programs. Acceptance of and compliance with these rules and regulations, as well as with all applicable state and
federal laws, are contractual obligations on the part of the student. Failure to comply with any of these rules may result in the students
expulsion from inlingua, termination from the program, and/or withholding of course certificates.
EXPULSION
inlingua reserves the right to expel any student whose conduct is unsatisfactory, at the sole discretion of the center director, whose
decision is final. Students who are expelled are permanently prohibited from enrolling in any inlingua program effective from the date
of expulsion. Examples of unsatisfactory conduct include but are not limited to improper loitering; disrespectful behavior; using foul,
abusive, or inappropriate language; engaging in disruptive, violent or threatening acts; and sexual harassment.
PAYMENT
All payments due for fees, accommodation, and other student services purchased must be paid prior to the commencement of classes,
as indicated in the application for admission. Tuition is calculated in complete weeks. Any fraction of a week is counted as a full week.
All students may either pay their tuition in full upon application or pay as they go (month-to-month).
Students who select to pay as they go must make the first tuition payment no later than thirty (30) days before their start date (or at the
time of application, if the start date is within thirty [30] days). The first payment must cover the total number of weeks within the first
month of study (between one and five weeks, depending on the start date). All students who pay as they go must leave a valid credit
card on file. After commencement, all monthly payments are due on the first Monday of the month for each subsequent month (or
portion of a month) remaining on the enrollment. If payment is not received by the first Friday of the month (four days after the
payment due date), the students credit card will be charged the amount due. Students may pay by personal check (in U.S. dollars and
drawn from a U.S. bank), international money order, travelers check, credit card (only American Express, MasterCard, and Visa are
accepted), cash, or bank transfer.
TUITION REFUNDS
In compliance with Florida law, all students may submit a request to cancel within three (3) days of enrollment and receive a full refund,
minus any non-refundable fees. If classes have already begun within those three days, a refund of any unused prepaid tuition will be
provided, minus a prorated tuition calculation for the classes taken during the first week. In addition, all students may submit a written
request to cancel after the first three (3) days of enrollment but before the first scheduled day of class and receive a refund of prepaid
tuition minus any non-refundable fees and the equivalent cost of tuition for one academic quarter.
Apart from these cancellation timeframes, no refunds are permitted for students who have been fully accepted and admitted into the
program who transfer out, change status, leave the country, are expelled or disenrolled for non-compliance with the programs policies
(including the programs attendance requirements), or otherwise withdraw from or abandon their course of studies before the end of
their enrollment. However, if the student has enrolled for a longer period of time (i.e., number of months) than required to complete
the program based on the students starting level, the student will receive a full refund of all prepaid tuition for months the student will
be unable to use.
Note 1: Special tuition refund policies apply to certain F-1 visa student applicants, as indicated in section F-1 VISAS below.
Note 2: Discounted Packages could be non-refundable depending on promotion taken.

July 2013

AIRPORT TRANSFER SERVICE AND REFUNDS

Students can purchase the optional airport transfer service through inlingua before their flight is scheduled to arrive or depart. inlingua
offers the transfer service for arrival only, departure only, or both ways. This service is provided by a third party, which assumes full
responsibility. Full payment of the arrival-only or both-ways airport transfer fee is due at least two weeks before the scheduled arrival
date. Full payment of the departure-only airport transfer fee is due at least two weeks before the scheduled departure date. All
requests for airport transfer refunds and cancellations must be made in writing. Students may cancel a scheduled transfer service up to
two (2) weeks in advance of the arrival or departure and receive a full refund. Any cancellation made later than that will not receive a
refund.
ACCOMMODATION SERVICES AND REFUNDS
Students can purchase an optional accommodation service through inlingua. Full payment of the non-refundable accommodation fee is
due at the time of application (if selected at that time) or at the time of booking if requested any time after the initial application is
submitted. Full payment for your desired accommodation service is due two weeks before the scheduled arrival date. All requests for
accommodation refunds and cancellations must be made in writing. The amount of refund provided, if any, will be based on the date
inlingua receives the written cancellation and refund request, as follows:
Homestay
Any time before the scheduled check-in date: Refund, minus the non-refundable accommodation fee and a two week penalty.
On or after the scheduled check-in date: No refund.
Hotel
Any time before the scheduled check-in date: Refund, minus the non-refundable accommodation fee and a two week penalty.
On or after the scheduled check-in date: No refund.
Apartment
No refund is provided after booking is confirmed.
Note 1: In the event that a student is asked to leave his or her accommodation by the host family, hotel, or apartment manager,
inlingua will not be responsible for finding or providing alternate accommodations.
Note 2: Discounted Packages could be non-refundable depending on promotion taken.
F-1 VISAS
In addition, the following terms and conditions are in effect for nonimmigrant students.
I.

Applicants for an F-1 visa are required by the DHS to pay a one-time fee (I-901 Fee of $200, as of July 25, 2013). The fee can be
paid directly to the DHS via the internet or mail.

II.

Nonimmigrant student applicants must submit additional documentation to inlingua, as required by federal immigration law,
during the application and enrollment process (see inlingua Application for Admission and I-20 Application for details). Eligible
students are required to prove financial responsibility; therefore, applicants must provide inlingua with a bank letter or, if
sponsored, both a bank letter and a letter of financial support from a company or sponsor.

III.

Nonimmigrant student applications for a Form I-20 must also be approved by inlinguas Head Office department of
International Students. The DHS has authorized inlinguas Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) and Designated School
Officials (DSO) to issue I-20 documents to accepted nonimmigrant students.

IV.

Due to federal laws which govern international students studying on an F-1 visa, a minimum of 18.75-27.75 hours per week of
class attendance is required, depending on the course type chosen (travel is permitted, but no reduction in tuition, fees, or
refunds of any kind will be given during any permitted travel periods). Failure to comply with the programs attendance policies
will result in the students termination from the program without a refund of unused tuition.

V.

A full refund of unused tuition will be provided to nonimmigrant students only if an application for an F-1 visa is denied by the
United States Embassy/Consulate or change of status to F-1 is denied by the DHS. However, no refund of unused tuition will be
given if the student abandons the visa application process or withdraws his or her application for change of status before
adjudication.
