maintenanceissues,SAPWorkManagerisamobileapplication
thatletstechniciansworkmoresafely,independently,and
productively.Andinthelatestrelease,6.4,weveaddedarange
ofnewcapabilitiesthatintegratecloud,analytics,andother
innovativefunctionalitymakingtheappevenmoreusefulto
maintenanceoperations.Wevealsoextendedsupportforthe
SAPMobilePlatform3.0,till2022,reflectingourcommitmentto
SAPWorkManager.
Whilewecontinuetodeliverenhancementstocorecapabilities
suchasmasterdataandattachmentsupport,thelatestversion
ofSAPWorkManagerfeaturestheseinnovations:
ClouddeploymentSAPWorkManagerwillbeready
fordeploymentonHANACloudPlatform.Asaresult,
organizationscanchoosetodeploySAPWorkManagerin
thecloud,leveragingthetechnologyasanoperational
ratherthanacapitalinvestment.SAPwillprovideaccess
toaselectnumberofcustomerstocapturefeedbackand
makeimprovementsbeforethegeneralavailability
release.
UI5GenericOpenUISAPWorkManagerprovidesa
UI5GenericOpenUIcontrolthroughthesoftware
developmentkit(SDK).ThisUI5GenericOpenUIcontrol
willenableSAPcustomersandpartnerstodevelop
additionalfunctionalitywithinSAPWorkManager,suchas
analytics,graphics,surveycontrols,anddynamicforms.
Thecontrolwillalloworganizationstomakebetteruseof
theirJavascriptdevelopersandUI5knowledge.Because
thecontainerwillbeavailableonalloursupported
operatingsystems,theresnoneedfornativedevelopers
withC#orObjectiveCexperience.
JavabackendloggingimprovementsRelease6.4
featuresmoreflexibilityforJavabackendloggingfor
troubleshooting.Werereviewingandrefiningtheloglevel

statementsandprovidingsignificantlymoreflexibilityto
logatanindividualbusinessobjectlevel.Andwere
providingotherfeaturestoalloworganizationstoisolate
issuesmoreeasily.Thisfunctionalitywillalsoimprove
performancebyloweringtheamountofunnecessarydata
capturedbyverboselogging.
InboundtransactionqueueSAPWorkManageroffers
aninboundtransactionqueue,allowinguserstouploadall
theirinbounddataintoaqueueinsteadofhavingto
handleerrorsonthedevices.Newfunctionalityletsusers
dumptheirdataintoaninboundqueuethatsprocessed
automatically.Anyissuesthatoccurcanbehandled
manuallybybackofficestaff.
MultipleusersupportRelease6.4allowsmultiple
userstosharedevices.Thisfunctionalitywillensurethat
whenanewuserpicksupthedevice,theapplicationwill
processtheexistingtransactionasthefirstuserbefore
loggingintheseconduser.
VehiclestocksupportSAPWorkManagerallows
userstomaintaintruckstockiftheytypicallyworkwitha
singletruck.Thiswillenablethemtobettertrack
inventoryandpartsconsumedacrossvariousjobs.
Goingforward,wereexploringintegrationwiththeInternetof
Things(IoT),SAPAssetIntelligenceNetwork,andSAPPredictive
MaintenanceandService.
Finally,werelookingforcustomersthatwouldliketobeearly
adoptersofSAPWorkManagerinthecloud.Customersthat
participateintheprogramwillbeamongtheearliestadoptersof
thissoftwarereleasegainingaccesstotheproductmonths
beforegeneralavailabilityandwillgaintheadvantagesof
beingafirstmoverintheirindustry.

theEarlyAdopterCareteam,whichwillguidethecoordinated
supportandpriorityattentionprovidedthroughtheprogram.

RegardingInboundTransactionManagement,willtheobjectbelockedinthedevice
meaningthattheuserwontbeabletodoanythingtillsomeoneinthebackend
unlocksit?Thatcouldbeabitproblematicsincesometimesyoumaynotbeableto
issueacomponent(lackofstock)butyoustillwanttokeepprocessingoperations

Takingthescenarioofissuingacomponentusingaworkorder,

therearetwolockingconguraons,onelockingforthecomponent
itselfandtheotherforlockingtheparentobjecti.e.theworkorder.
Whenanissuetransacononacomponentisplacedintheinbound
queue,componentislockedandparentobject(i.e.theworkorder)
isNOTlockedonthedevice.Thisistheoutoftheboxconguraon.
Lockingonthecomponentwillnotallowtheusertoreissuethe

componentandtheusercanperformothertransaconsonthe
workorder.

Youcancongurefurthertolocktheworkorderbasedonthe

conguraonparametersusingthetCode/n/syclo/congpanel.
