In Local News
Sergeant Marc Dennis, a New Jersey State Policeman, was indicted on Wednesday on
charges of official misconduct and record tampering. Dennis is said to have skipped a
required temperature test when re-calibrating the Alcotest device. This device is what
most of New Jersey law enforcement uses when checking the blood alcohol level of
drivers accused of driving drunk. A superior officer allegedly saw Dennis skip the step a
total of three times, but the accusations against the Trooper could have an effect on as
many as twenty thousand cases statewide. Sgt. Marc Dennis has been suspended with
out pay since September of this year and records indicate he has calibrated devices in
as many as five counties including Monmouth, Ocean and Union.

Coming out of Newark today, the Essex County Sheriffs department is offering a ten
thousand dollar reward for any and all information that may lead to the arrest of
someone connected with the death of William Hyder. Hyder, 56 left his home around 9
P.M. on November 21st to run an errand at a local pharmacy located at 199 Stuyvesant
Ave. He returned nearly an hour later knocking on his own door before stumbling in with
severe injuries and claiming he had been robbed. Hyder was rushed to University
Hospital where he died of those injuries on December 6th. He was a thirty year resident
of Newark. The Essex County Prosecutors Office will be leading the investigation and is
urging anyone with information to come forward. If you or someone you know has any

In National News
Reports our of Colorado confirm that authorities are looking into using a new from of
DNA testing in one of Americas most prolific unsolved murder cases. Jon Benet
Ramsay was found dead in her own home twenty years ago but local authorities are
hoping this new form of testing will lead to new answers. Starting in 2017, the Colorado
Bureau of Investigation will open a new facility that will use the new technology in the
Jon Benet case as well as other cold cases. Bolder County DA, Stan Garnett claims the
new DNA testing results will not be significant and not a big deal. Garnett stated that
the Jon Benet case is much more than a DNA case and that a substantial amount of
evidence would have to come together to even have a chance at a prosecutable case.
Local Colorado police officials said they would only make a statement if and when there
was new information to be relayed.

Officials confirmed late last night that Brownsville, Texas has been declared a Yellow
Zika Virus zone. Late last week it was reported that there had been five local cases of
the virus in the Brownsville area. Mosquitoes carry Zika and in Texas it is still warm
enough for them to be active. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention said,
Local spread of Zika Virus by mosquitoes has also been reported in Mexico along the
United States-Mexico border. In addition to being spread by the annoying insect, the
virus can also be spread through sexual transmission and may be spreading quietly as
people carrying the virus will only exhibit mild symptoms or none at all. The CDC is
warning women who are pregnant to avoid the Brownsville area.

In Ohio a women who two grandkids ate and ingested heroin has been sentenced in
court. Lisa Davis, 44 of Warren, Ohio had been charged with a felony of Allowing Drug
Abuse. She pleaded guilty and has been sentenced to ninety days in county jail by a
judge in Warren. The two children were nine months and twenty-one months when they
were taken to the local hospital where they had to be revived by a heroin antidote at the
emergency room. Carlisa Davis, 19 has also been charged in the case of two counts of
endangering a child.

In International News
France has been discussing a possible extension of its self-imposed State of Emergency
to protect the upcoming 2017 elections. Frances Parliament will vote in the upcoming
week to extend the State of Emergency for six months. If the vote goes through it will be
the fifth time it has been extended since the 2015 Paris terrorist attacks. Prime Minister
Bernard Cazeneuve (CEZ-E-NEV) said Saturday that gatherings and public meetings
can unfortunately create a context of augmented risk of terrorist attacks for those who
want to hit us at the heart of our democratic values and republican principles.

The European Unions space satellite Galileo has finally gone live after seventeen
years. Officials hope one day that Galileo will provide better location accuracy than both
the Russian and U.S. Military satellites that are in play right now. European Commission
Vice President Marco Sefcovic (SEF-CHO-VIC) said the Galileo Satellite could increase
geo-location ten fold when compared with the current U.S. global positioning system
thats in place right now. The satellite was created by the EU Commission and the
European Space Agency, as well as outside countries such as India and Israel.

An exciting night for the NBA.
The Miami Heat hosted the Indiana Pacers in a night game that featured some of the
leagues most prominent stars. Paul George of the Pacers set the tone for his team with
22 points, 3 assists and 7 rebounds. Where as Hassan Whiteside was the man for the
Heat finishing with 26 points, 22 rebounds and two blocks. As it turns out Whitesides 22
rebounds would make the difference as the Miami Heat took the victory with a 95-89
victory over Georges Pacers. It was a much needed victory for Miami as the struggling
team sits at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with a 9-17 record.

In NHL news
The San Jose Sharks took the W against a feisty Ottawa Senators team. The matchup
took place in Ottawa as the Senators played host to a San Jose team with hug playoff
aspirations. The game went into overtime and an eventual shootout that went four
rounds. The only goal of which came from right-winger Kevin Leblanc and gave the
Sharks a 4-3 victory. Other goals scored in regulation for San Jose are credited to Joe
Pavelski, Brent Burns, and Chris Tierney.

The world mourns the passing of acclaimed television father figure Alan Thicke today.
Thick passed late on Tuesday from what appears to be an apparent heart attack. Thick
and his son Carter were at a California hockey rink when Alan collapsed on the ground
and was complaining of chest pains. He was in good spirits apparently as witnesses say
he jokingly asked his son to snap a picture while being wheeled out on a gurney. The 69
year old actor was known for his role as Dr. Jason Seaver on the sitcom Growing Pains
but most recently made appearences oh shows such as How I Met Your Mother and the
newest season of Fuller House which aired on Netflix on December 9th.
