In many society today the topic of gender equality is a serious issues where different
opinion create an ongoing conversation. There are advantages as well as disadvantages for all
genders. However, does society tend to except one gender over another? Do men have more
benefits than women? Are female to male transgenders more accepted that male to female
transgenders? These questions are a part of the ongoing conversation on whether there are more
benefits one gender may have over another? According to articles, surveys and evaluation that
people have conducted, there is an inequality among genders and heterosexual males tend to
have more benefits than any other gender.
According to The Big Question Man vs. Female How Do Sex & Sexuality Affect An
Individuals Role In Society? Male do not view woman as equal. To be a woman in the world is
to experience, by submission or resistance, the entitlement of men to your body. (Moore)
Meaning to be a woman means being beneath a man. Moore witness a conversation where men
thought it was acceptable to harm their wives. The man asked But if we cant beat our wives . . .
what can we do (Moore) He believes being a man means he can punish and belittle women, as
if she is his property. Men have a clear advantage and that is their physical attributes. Two of the
points in The List of Male Privileges is the Ownership of Womens Bodies and the Privilege
of Violence Against Women. The fundamental inequality between men and women in our
society, is the idea that all women, by simply being women, can have their reproduction

regulated by the state and should be sexually available to men at any time regardless of their own
desires or consent. Being a man is being able to do anything to a woman with or without her
consent.
From the beginning of mankind, there was an arrangement, somewhat like a contract, that
defined gender roles according to Cope in On the Material Relations of Sex in Human Society.
The support and protection given by man to woman and the woman shall not be the wife of
some other man, and that the children she bears shall be also those of the male party to the
contract, or the husband. Gender roles was a choice for survival and now in some societies,
gender roles defines a person. Kate Kraft in The big Question Man vs. Woman How Do Sex &
Sexuality Affect an Individuals role In Society? She states In most African societies today,
sexuality does not merely affect an individuals role-it defines it. Male and females get treated a
certain way because of their sexuality.
Nevertheless, woman in the modern and democratic society has more rights that were not
given to the women before us. Women no only vote, they now govern worldwide today,
women serve with the distinction in a number of the worlds armed forces (Reding) Women
today are involved in many organization and leadership roles that were not available in the past.
Many would say woman has more rights than man. On debate.org eighty percent say that women
have more rights than men in todays society? One person said Women have so many more
rights when it comes to children and child-rearing than men. Women generally have an easier
time in the court systems. Women dominate university. Women get lenient sentencing due to a
sympathetic jury. Women have doors held open for them, their meals paid for . . . Whether or
not a woman is raped she can say she was and have any man taken straight to jail without
question. If a man is raped he's not taken seriously and often loses the case. 97% of money paid

in alimony is paid from male to female dispute near equal pay and they are favored for child
support and any divorce case for that matter. They get into clubs free, get less tickets for traffic
violations. According to Ebert, Women Are Better Than Men. Ebert states that females make up
more than half of all graduate students. Ebert also states that to be a leader, a person must
understand human nature as well as be compassionate about those working for them, and
empathetic with the needs of consumers. Women are better equipped than men, according to
Ebert. In Ebert article, he states that women are more aware of human issues. Women
understands what is important in the world better than men. In terms of finances Ebert believes
that Women are not quite so quick as men to grow enraged at the idea of raising the hourly
wage. For most men, the minimum wage is important largely because of its impact on profits. I
believe more women consider its effect on helping wage-earners support their families.
However, Women continue to pay the highest price-many trapped from birth to death in
the roles of virgin bride, chaste wife, and sexless mother.(Dube) On debate.org twenty percent
believe that women do not have more rights than men in today society. One person believed
woman has be given more rights than before, but to say that women has more rights than men is
false and different situations causes different outcomes for males and females. It states In
today's society women do have much more rights than they used to have, but I do not think that
means they have more rights then men right now. Overall it is hard to say for sure who has the
most rights, because in some situations a woman might seem like they have more going for them,
but then compare that to a different situation it could be the exact opposite.
In Coopers Crazy Bitch he discussed the domination of male over females. Cooper is
transgender that transitioned from a female to male. He experienced the sexual harassment as
well as fear as a female. He also experienced being feared as a male. In Coopers article, he

reminiscences of sexual assault when a busboy followed him into the walk-in cooler and
mashed his fat slug of a tongue into the corner of his lips. (Cooper) Before Cooper
transitioned, he didnt feel like a female, but he was treated as though. He states that when he
walked alone at night on an empty street, he would cross the street when a man or group of men
approached.(Cooper) Now he is the guy he notice women crossing the street to
avoid.(Cooper) Cooper understands one benefit that man have over women personally, and that
is the lack of fear of men in general. One of the points in The List of Male Privileges is the
Privilege of Safety it states that Men dont live their entire lives in fear. There is no gender
terrorism for men. Men can risk dropping their guard, leaving their drink unattended at a party,
having first-dates meet at their house, or being alone at night Cooper experienced this privilege
on both side, as a male and a female. His experience proves that these privileges to exist.
It is to be believed that the male and female gender has more benefits than the male or
female transgender. The female to male transgender is more accepted then the male to female
transgender. The heterosexual male and females are more accepted then the homosexual males
and female also. Female homosexuals are more accepted then the male homosexuals. According
to Kate Kraft Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan recently signed a law criminalizing not
only homosexuality, but also membership in or encouragement of gay-rights organizations.
(Kraft) Being criminalized for ones sexual preference clearly displays the advantages one type
of gender has over another type.
The issues in todays society is not just about which gender has more benefits than the
other? The answer is a clear yes. Heterosexual male has more advantages than any other gender,
including transgender. The inequality of human beings is determined by the culture where we
grow up (Gomez) and the civilization of a nation may be measured by the degree of humanity

displayed by its men towards its women.(Cope) However it not just about the humanity
displayed form men to women. Its about the humanity displayed from everyone to everyone.
Nevertheless, it can be said that heterosexual men contains more advantages than women and
transgender males or females. The issue will continue to go on until equality is reached.
