Goals/Key questions
Goals:
- Students will be able to identify the landscape features of Meteghan Nova Scotia
- Students will be able to locate Meteghan Nova Scotia on a map
- Students will understand the weather patterns of Meteghan Nova Scotia in relations to the
Atlantic ocean, and the gulf stream
Objective (connected to PofS):
GLO - Students will demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of how geography,
culture, language, heritage, economics and resources shape and change Canada's
communities.

SLO 2.1.1 - appreciate the physical and human geography of the communities studied

after the video, write on the whiteboard:
The landscape in Meteghan includes, forests,
rocky cliffs, sandy beaches, rivers and lakes
Ask the students to return to their desks.
Hand the worksheets to a student that
volunteers to help hand out paper.
ensure that all students have a pencil, scissors,
and a glue stick at their desks

desks and wait for the
worksheets to be handed out

ask the students to cut out the X Meteghan


piece and glue it to the proper place on the
map.
explain to the students that they are to cut out
the Meteghan Landscape square, then glue it
onto the top square on the map sheet. inside
the flap write down what landscapes exist in
Meteghan
(The landscape in Meteghan includes, forests,
rocky cliffs, sandy beaches, rivers and lakes)
ask the students to meet at the carpet once
more and return to the prezi presentation.
begin the weather section of the presentation
and throughout record the following:
Meteghans Summers are cool and the Winters
are warm because of the currents in the
Atlantic Ocean.
Ask the students to return to their desks and
begin cutting out the final pieces and gluing it
on the the map.
under the Meteghan weather flap, please
write what kind of weather Meteghan has, in
the summer and winter (Meteghans

Students should begin to cut out


the pieces of sheets and begin
gluing and labeling the map

Ask the students to finish off their maps, for


those who are finished early, they may:
- help a neighbor,
- colour in the map
- draw a picture related to Meteghan on
the back
as a final activity, run through the Kahoot quiz
about Meteghan

Students will be finished at


varied times, however, the time
frames will need to be met, so
even when there are students
left working on the previous
activity, move onto the next

students should once more


engage with the presentation
and answer questions
appropriately once called on.

Students should begin working


on their map. by this point,
students should have their
Meteghan properly labeled, and
their 2 Meteghan flaps glued
and written in.
