Academic Success Skills Group (Grades 3-4) Results

Process Data: Two groups of students in 3rd in 4th grades met 8 times over
approximately two months. The group make-up comprises 4 boys and 9 girls and 5
students from 3rd grades and 8 from 4th grade.
Perception Data: All students rated their achievement of their chosen goal on a scale
of 1-10 both before and after the group sessions.

Qualitative Data: Indicators of Qualitative Perception Data Over 8 Weeks


o Student 4L: "I used to be scared to raise my hand in class and sometimes
would cry after getting a question wrong....I feel more confident to raise
my hand now."
Session 5
o Student 4M: "I have learned that I can be proud of what I have
accomplished instead of being hard on myself."
Session 6
o Student 3C: "I am now more open to people. I don't look at people and
think that I do not want to be friends with them. I can get to know people
before judging them."
Sessions 6
o Student 3N: "School is something that I am thankful for. Before it was a
hassle... I am more motivated"
Session 7
o Student 3K: "I feel encouraged by myself for the first time. I know that I
can do better at science and social studies."
Session 8
Outcome Data: All students had advanced and proficient scores on the report
card that was distributed as group was ending
