Protocol Involving Special Needs Students

1. The Academic Support Services Department will email a teacher of a student with
known special needs before the start of the school year. This email will contain any
information regarding learning disabilities, medical conditions, and IEP or 504 plans.
2. The teacher will design appropriate interventions and accommodations, as well as
implement those suggested by Academic Support Services.
3. Teacher will meet with Director of Academic Support Services to discuss additional ways
to support students.
4. Teachers will attend continuing professional development regarding supporting special
need students as may be suggested by Academic Support Services.
5. For students with IEP and 504 plans these meetings will occur at least once a semester to
discuss student progress.
6. Academic Support Services communicates regularly with families and teachers to find solutions
to ensure student success.
