Employability

The term employability is used in different contexts and in different ways

Employability is the ability to perform a set of tasks related to a particular job at an acceptable
level of productivity set by an employer.
everybody is employable, but not for all tasks or jobs which contradicts the reports which states
that x per cent of graduates in India are not employable and so on.
Dr. Kalam said, It is not unemployment, which is a major problem; it is the question of
unemployability, which is a bigger crisis,
the problem of employability is related to the assessment of employability.
assessment should measure whether the graduate can learn and cope with the job after induction
training
The main employability problems and their solutions can be listed as follows:

4. Government funds to the institutes not giving 75% employability should be stopped
5. Regular meeting and discussion should be arranged with HR persons and students.

faculty members can update themselves by specialized skills set only.
7. Sandwich courses should be developed

1. Teachers should have the particular skills set i.e. they should have some industry experience in
concern field.
2. The evaluation system should be made robust enough to find out the knowledge level of the
students so that students should concentrate only on learning and not on grades
3. Tuition factories where exam survival skills are taught instead of real knowledge should be
stopped
4. There are no role models in colleges which are run by managements and not by
principals/academics

to learn
