~~~Retard's Guide to Making a QR~~~
For this example, we will be making a perfectly legal Rowlet that can be traded
over GTS and used in online battles. The principles are the same for any Pokmon E
XCEPT any Legendaries/UBs/Ditto/other unbreedable Pokmon, but follow along with t
his guide step-by-step before you make your own Pokmon, to make sure you understa
nd. This guide will assume you are a TOTAL RETARD and will try to skip nothing.
1. To start, you will need the latest release of PKHeX: https://github.com/kwsch
/PKHeX/releases/download/1.0.7/PKHeX.111816.zip
2. Extract the .zip file to any location on your computer and open PKHeX.exe. Wh
en the program opens, you should see the sprite of an Arceus and a red exclamati
on point at the top and you should be on the Main tab.
3. In the Species field, type Rowlet, then hit enter. Below that, in the Nicknam
e field, type Robin Hoot. If you don't want a nickname for your own Pokmon, you c
an untick the checkbox next to Nickname
4. Click on the Reroll button at the top of the Main tab. This isn't strictly ne
cessary, but it will make your Pokmon appear more legal. If you want your Pokmon t
o be shiny, click the star button next to PID (this will change your Pokmon's PID
). If you want to change the gender of your Pokmon, click on the red female symbo
l between the PID field and the Reroll button (if the female symbol is just a bl
ack hyphen, then you're working on a genderless Pokmon). Note that it is impossib
le to give a gender to a genderless Pokmon.
5. Ignore the EXP field and go to the Level field. Type in 10, and EXP should ch
ange to 560 (the experience that a Rowlett would have if it just became level 10
). Obviously, you can set the level to anything between 1 and 100.
6. Change Robin Hoot's Nature to Adamant. For your own Pokmon, a list of all the
natures can be found here: http://www.serebii.net/games/natures.shtml
7. Change the Held Item to a Gold Bottle Cap. A Pokmon's held item can be anythin
g EXCEPT mega stones.
8. Leave Friendship alone (unless you're injecting the Pokmon yourself). Trading
a Pokmon sets its Friendship back to its base value (usually 70). If you're injec
ting it yourself, then you can set the value to anywhere between 0 and 255 (0 fo
r max power on Frustration, 255 for max power on Return). Note that Friendship i
s NOT Affection (Refresh hearts).
9. Keep Robin Hoot's Ability at Overgrow (1). None of the Gen VII starters or le
gendaries have had their Hidden Abilities released yet, so you can't trade them.
For any other Pokmon, you can change the value to any of its 3 abilities. When a
Pokmon evolves, it's ability number stays the same (1, 2, or H), so keep that in
mind when requesting/injecting a Pokmon that can still evolve (ie. A Shelgon wit
h Rock Head (1) will evolve into a Salamence with Intimidate (1))
10. Tick the "Infected" box underneath Language. When you do, a drop-down box wi
ll appear beneath the checkbox, and the Cured box will tick itself. Untick the C
ured box and another drop-down box will appear. Set the PkRs box to 3 and the d
box to 4 to give Robin Hoot 4 full days of Pokerus. If you don't want your Pokmon
to have Pokerus, just leave the boxes unticked. ALWAYS leave "Is Egg" unticked
unless you are injecting the Pokmon yourself. Eggs are not tradeable in any way.
11. Change Country to United States, Sub Region to California, and 3DS Region to
Americas (NA/SA). If you want to change a Pokmon's nationality, make sure change
the Language box to a language in the country AND be sure that your Country and
Sub Region are in the 3DS Region (ie. Zimbabwe, Florida will not work with Japa
n)
12. Now click on the Met tab. This is where most people go wrong, so PAY ATTENTI
ON.
13. Change Origin Game to Sun. THE ORIGIN GAME CAN ONLY BE SUN OR MOON UNTIL JAN
UARY 2017. January is when PokeBank will be updated to allow transferring from O
R/AS/R/B/Y to S/M.
14. Change Met Location to Route 1. Doing so will be legal for any breedable Pokm
on (ie. no Legendaries/UBs/Ditto) once we get to Step 19.
15. Keep Ball at Pok Ball. You can change the ball to anything you want with your
own Pokmon (except Dream/Cherish), but you have to be able to breed the ball dow
n.
16. Change Met Level to 1. Unless you're making a Legendary/UB/Ditto, ALWAYS DO
A MET LEVEL OF 1.
17. Click the Calendar symbol inside the Met Date field and click "Today". If yo
ur computer's internal clock is correct, then this will always be legal.
18. Leave Fateful Encounter unticked. Fateful Encounter is for Pokmon received fo
r Events and are very hard to fake without the real Event Pokmon to use as a base
.
19. TICK "AS EGG". This makes the Pokmon a result of breeding and makes it easier
to choose a Met Location. Without this, you need to figure out the exact level
and location a Pokmon appears at and also makes it impossible to put Egg Moves on
the Pokmon. (The Date field should automatically set itself to today's date, but
if it doesn't follow step 17.)
20. Now click on the Stats tab.
21. Find the "Randomize IVs" button and CTRL + click on it to set all IVs to 31.
If you want different IVs, you can edit them individually. IVs can be any value
between 0 and 31 and will always be legal with PKHeX.
22. Click on the Hidden Power Type drop-down box and change it to Bug. This will
change the IVs to match your IV spread automatically. Of course, you don't need
to change Hidden Power Type if you don't plan on using Hidden Power.
23. Change Robin Hoot's EVs to 252 in Atk, 252 in Spe, and 6 in HP. 252 is the h
ighest number of EVs a single stat can have, and 510 (252 + 252 + 6) is the maxi
mum EVs a Pokmon can have overall. EVs can be distributed in any fashion, however
. They don't need to always go to 252. Keep in mind that fewer than 4 EVs won't
change a stat at all.
24. Click on the Attacks tab. This is another area where people go wrong often.
25. Change Robin Hoot's first attack to Leafage and his second attack to Peck. A
lternatively, you can click on the words "Current Moves" and it will give your P
okmon a fully legal (and randomized) moveset that will always work. Don't worry i
f there are exclamation points next to a move (yet!).
26. Click the words "PP Ups" to give Robin Hoot 3 PP Ups for each of his moves.
You don't have to apply PP Ups if you don't want to, however.
27. RELEARN MOVES: The absolute easiest way to make your Pokmon untradeable is by
fucking up its relearn moves. All you need to do is click on the words "Relearn
Moves" and it automatically set the relearn moves necessary for the moveset you
defined. There is a catch though: clicking "Relearn Moves" will try to make you
r moveset legal, even if it can't. This means that it will remove the exclamatio
n points next to your moves in Current Moves, but there can still be an exclamat
ion point next to the move in Relearn Moves. THIS MEANS THAT THE MOVE CANNOT BE
LEARNED BY YOUR POKEMON UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. If there is an exclamation poin
t next to a move under Relearn Moves, take it out of Current Moves and try again
.
28. Click on the OT/Misc tab.
29. TID and SID don't matter unless you want your injected Pokmon to "yours" (ie.
no boosted XP due to being traded). There are only two ways to determine your S
ID: a) dump your save file using JKSM and look at one of your caught Pokmon in PK
HeX (requires Homebrew/CFW) or b) trade with someone who can dump their save fil
e using JKSM and look at one of your caught Pokmon in PKHeX.
30. You can change OT to be your character's name, if you want. On the surface i
t will look like you caught the Pokmon, but you'll still get the boosted XP of a
Pokmon that you got from a trade. I definitely recommend changing it from "PKHeX"
, though. It screams "INJECTED" if you don't (it will still be legal if you don'
t).
31. At the bottom of the tab, click Reroll next to Encryption Constant. Like bef
ore, it's not 100% necessary, but it makes your Pokmon look more legit.
32. By this point, you should see either a green check mark next to the sprite o
f your Pokmon or a red exclamation point. Regardless of what it is, click on the
symbol. If a window pops up and says "Legal!", go to the next step. If it gives
you an error, go past the next step to "Fixing Errors".
33. You're done! Right click on your Pokmon's sprite and click "QR!" (or shift +
click on the sprite) and a window will pop up with your QR code. Copy the QR cod
e by clicking on it and paste it into Paint/GIMP/Photoshop/whatever and save the
image as a .png to upload.
~~~Fixing Errors~~~
There are LOTS of different errors that can come up when generating a Pokmon, so
I can't list all of them. But this guide should help you with the most common er
rors. Ctrl + f to find your error message; I replaced any numbers in the errors
with an X.
Invalid Relearn Move X: Base Egg Move Missing
-You didn't apply the correct base egg moves. Just click on the words "Relearn M
oves" under the Attacks tab and PKHeX will fix it for you.
Invalid Move X: Invalid Move
-You're attempting to give a Pokmon a move that it can't learn through TM/level u
p/Tutor. First, try clicking on the words "Relearn Moves" under the Attacks tab.
If it gives you another error, find the error in this guide.
Invalid Relearn Move X: Not an Expected Relearn Move
-You're attempting to give a Pokmon a move that it can never learn under any circ
umstances. Remove the move from Current Moves and Relearn Moves under the Attack
s tab.

Invalid: Eggs Cannot Receive EVs.

-Just remove any applied EVs to your egg under the Stats tab.
Invalid: Current Level for an Egg is Invalid.
-Set your Pokmon's level to 1 in the Main tab.
Invalid: Cannot Apply PP Ups to an Egg.
-Remove any PP Ups from your Pokmon's Current Moves under the Attacks tab.
Invalid: Invalid S/M Location for a Hatched Egg.
-Your Met Location is set to a location that an egg could never hatch in. Change
Met Location to something like Route 1 under the Met tab.
Invalid: Not a Valid Encounter.
-Several things can be wrong if you get this error. If you're trying to make a P
okmon that is NOT a Legendary/UB/Ditto/other unbreedable Pokmon, then follow steps
13 through 19. Otherwise, do some research on where your Pokmon appears in the g
ame on Serebii (ie. Celesteela can only be found in the Haina Desert and the Mal
ie Garden at level 65)
Invalid: Dream Ball not Possible for Species.
-Change the Pokmon's ball under the Met tab to something else, like a Pok Ball
Invalid: Cherish Ball on Non-Event.
-Change the Pokmon's ball under the Met tab to something else, like a Pok Ball. If
you were trying to make an Event pokemon, try going to Tools > Data > Mystery G
ift Database and find your event Pokmon there.
Invalid: Master Ball on Egg Origin.
-Change the Pokmon's ball under the Met tab to something else, like a Pok Ball. Al
ternatively, you can change the Pokmon's Met Location and Met Level to something
legal and untick the "As Egg" box.
Invalid: Memory -- missing Original Trainer Memory.
-Go to the OT/Misc tab and click on the Memories button at the bottom. Click on
the Memory Type drop-down box and go to the very top of the list and click "The
Pokmon seems to have a good memory, but it doesnt seem to be able to remember...".
This usually fixes the problem, but doesn t always.
