Making a Difference at Ryley School

We have been studying environmental stewardship as part of our outdoor
education class. Environmental stewardship is the responsibility that humans
have to care for the animals and ecosystems around us. THIS IS A BIG JOB!! We
need to consider the impact that Ryley school has on the environment and what
we can do to influence change around us.
We have the chance to win $25,000 worth of technology in our school by doing
our part to protect the environment. The 2017 Staples Superpower your School
Contest, brought to you in collaboration with Earth Day Canada, recognizes
schools that are doing their part to protect the planet. After completing the
following project, Mrs. Peters will submit an entry form based on your responses,
research and planning in hopes of winning $25000 for our school.

Part 1:
Answer the following questions:
1. What are some initiatives Ryley School already has in place to protect the
environment? Be specific.
2. Are there any ways to improve the initiatives that we already have going in our
school?
3. How can we educate our fellow classmates and community about the initiatives
and the impact they have on the environment?
4. Research other schools that are environmental friendly. What are they doing?
Include 3 different examples.
Part 2:
Develop an initiative that will help the environment. Be sure to include everything that it
will entail and what will have to happen for it to be initiated. Submit your proposal in a
one page document. After it is planned, follow through with the initiative to help the
environment. In what ways is it helping?
