Unit One Portfolio

Reading: Determine
two or more central
ideas of a text and
analyze their
development over the
course of the text,
including how they
interact and build on
one another to
provide a complex
analysis; provide an
objective summary of
the text.
Writing: Write
narratives to develop
real or imagined
experiences or events
using effective
technique, well-chosen
details, and
well-structured event
sequences.

While I completed the

assignment, I feel like it
wasnt my best on
some. The quickwrites
werent to the best of
my availability. The
essay to college on the
other hand was my best
work in my opinion,
since I had time to
review over it.

-I can get a peer to

review over all my work
before turning it in.
-Or I can constantly go
over it before turning it
in.

Speaking and
Listening: Evaluate a
speaker's point of view,
reasoning, and use of
evidence and rhetoric,
assessing the stance,
premises, links among
ideas, word choice,
points of emphasis, and
tone used.
Writing: Develop
claim(s) and
counterclaims fairly and
thoroughly, supplying
the most relevant
evidence for each
while pointing out the
strengths and limitations
of both in a
manner that anticipates
the audience's
knowledge level,
concerns, values, and
possible biases

When I had completed

the assignment, I felt
like it wasnt the best of
my ability. I had
struggled understanding
the criterias for this
essay.

-Reviewing an
assignment before
turning it in can help me
-Having multiple people
review it can help as
well.

The journal was easy to

make. Writing
everything down and
rewriting questions was
the difficult. It had fun
with this project.

Into the Wild Essay

Reading: Analyze the

impact of the author's
choices regarding
how to develop and
relate elements of a
story or drama.
Speaking and
Listening: Come to
discussions prepared;
explicitly draw on that
preparation by referring
to evidence from texts
and other research on
the topic or issue to
stimulate a thoughtful,
well-reasoned exchange
of ideas.

Once I had the essay

planned out, reaching
the end point was easy.
Adding quotes through
each paragraph also
became easy once I
knew what I was doing.

-Need more peer

reviews. Only thing Im
struggling with
-Also planning and not
leaving everything last
minute.
