Instructional Resources and
Materials

Justification and Theory

Teaching Strategies used in

class

the book called Imagine Fun at Sea by Silver Castle

Teachers will have prepared shark, sea turtle, seal and mask
traced on multi-color construction papers cut.
Scissor
Glue
elastic rubber band
water color
Pencils
Tempera paints
Base color paint: Black & white color paint
Creativity is the highest form of mental knowledge so it is our children
imagination by creating sea animal mask they can further practice
develop their fine motor skill, leaning listen observe and do art
themselves without being judge for good or bad but all art is good. Its
very important for children to know that they can express their
creativity with art form and put their idea and emotion of their sea
animal into mask then later we can use their they created to do acting
out performance with music and movement together by exploring
different medium use to create their own mask. They need to trust their
eyes and five senses to observe, listen, reflect and investing what sea
animals like to do, what they. From 2D to 3D ways of reading to
engage children as tool to help us to teach. When a book is engaging
and fun to play interactive with along text and picture help children to
learn better. We want to encourage children make believe and use their
imagination and trust their eyes in about the size and length of different
sea animals.
This activity will start out with whole group reading out loud
experience during a read aloud, and then transition to small group
activity. During reading and examine what the mask look like in our
book and how it simply creates. We will use high level of asking
question strategies stimulate children to be adventure, thinker just like
the story all sea animals encourage student to adventurer. I will use
dialogic reading strategies to redirected to pay extra attention their trust
their eyes and hands to create art and invite children to explore ideas
beyond the norm.
I will communicate with my teaching partner and we both model the
activity before the students begin work in both whole, small group and
then the mask activity is finish later the week we reunited to show and
tell and the whole class will do a performance base on their mask. since
children are familiar with this book by now. We working follow up.
Since we have 15 students we might would monitor the childrens work
while encouraging and prompting to engage to be creative get hand on
learning and be free to express all the colors, shape and idea they want
to put into making their mask. To experience art, one must do art in
person with their hand and mind.

Anticipatory Set

Instructional Input

I will record a funny video from YouTube on how children in the

process of making their own funny mask do and perform with their
mask and bring it to class to share with children on how other children
outside who older than them or similar age can express art in doing not
only painting, drawing, waiting but also visual performance and live
music performance that involve their own body and mind come
together.
1. Meet at the carpet with all the children. We sing a
song relate do sea are like a song called under the
sea with guitar and song lyric.
2. Then Introduce to children that we going to learn to
make our own sea animal mask base on an actual
book we going to read and although we read this
book before but we examining closet look today with
how mask can be made and what can we do with the
mask. Ask children have they ever created their own
mask before and allow them to share and discussion
together. If they did. I ask how to they feel making or
design their own mask? How to spell the word mask
3. Write the word down and ask children to clapping
their hands as they say spell out the mask out m
a s k and ask children why do people wear
mask? When do you see, people wearing mask??
some may say Halloween. act. Then I will encourage
to speak up and express their ideas and listen to their
ideas and explore why being wear mask is it fun?
4. Explain purpose making mask with children. Its form
of pretend play communicating and its highest form
of knowledge is creativity and sometimes some
people or children are not comfortable speaking but
they wear a mask they get into whole new world of
imagine play so it helps them speak out their ideas
and encourage all to communicate with each other.
5. Then read them the book Imagine fun at the Sea
ask children to pay attention to colors, shape and
ideas ask they listen to the story act out before
them . after teacher, will ask many chidren all the sea
animals to under their characteristic and again
encourage children to not be afraid to wear a mask
and then speak out and pretend they are that seagull
that brave seagull that soar over the sea and not
afraid to explore the world around them. And
encourage children to do the same.
6. Teacher encourage children be who they want to be in the future.

ask them what color do they think they will create
with black and white together ?
8. Allow children to response . write down their response
on the board. Then do an experiment in front of them
with real paint and children will exciting.
9. Teacher gave example first by role model wear the mask and
encourage all children to explore and be adventurer. Just let them
know that shark always move forward or else they will sink to the
bottom of the ocean and ask children why do we see shark like to
siting at the bottom of morsel floor because they are resting.
Sometime they are tire so they rest. Invite children to do the same
wearing the mask on seal and sea turtle and asking how teach seal
and saturate look like and what are the usually color of a seal and
sea turtle and why do they come on the land sometimes? Allow
children explore their answers first.
10. Then explain to them that seal and sea turtle can both live on area
and water but they only come up to land because they feel tired and
need rest.
11. After finished reading book, explain the children how we can to
make our own creative sea animal mask in small groups
12. Provide teacher instruction and explain the medium to them let
them they can build it any color of color want. although shark has is
usually gray if they want to make gray they can explore mix the
color paint with black and white. teacher show by modeling once
time how make the mask by first cutting out the shape and then
have use their imagination to create the teeth that they like. This is
same applying to the turtle or seal and let them know that we here
for them if they dont know the color of the animal that they do

they can go back to this book and check it out or they can be
creative instead of yellow peak for seagull we can make it in
different color of their choice
13. Then teacher make a sample in front whole group. After finish their
mask, they must tell the teacher one or two things about their
creation about their finish animal mask. so, they can either write
wrote their thought with teacher support They can choose from
making a green sea torture, a blue seal or white or gray seagull that
children hoe seagull change their feather over time gray white to
gray to more black and ask them why?
14. Let children know that they write their name on their paper and
after they finish we can allow them to painting. But need to use
their pencil or color music and white paper go design their eyes, for
feet. But they can use any color of construction paper they like and
we were follow up with it after they finish making their mask but
teacher will support them to do if they need help be free to ask their
teacher and friends.

after they can either color their colors or use water color or paint to
their sea animals and put it is the window areas for display art work
to let it cray and we will do a show and tell tomorrow to follow up
with our activity.

Anticipated Time Frame

Plans for Assessment/Check

18. Enourage the children to use whatever creative or spontaneous

ideas and use any medium they they can see and found on the table
and it is okay.to explore make their own masks. But they must
always keep the safe and must wash their hand afterward.
19. Afterward they can share their mask or show what they find with
their peers and teachers
45 minutes (25 minutes for the read aloud, 5 minutes for discussion, 20
minutes for small group drawing and writing, 5 minutes to share with a
friend)
I will use my observation in class and checklists items from the child

developmental checklist to assess each students learning on their

Emergent, writing, and reading skills along with spoken language and
dramatic play item and multiple of other assessment like child-teacher
interview or conversation as also part of my way of assess the student
understanding. The main criteria of the checklist are to check item if
the children progress or show it sign of progress. How do the children
follow instruction and observe them how they draw or write or even
label with date and be documental with anecdotal and runner record to
observe the childs behavior and ultimately we will document the
children into our authentic portfolios along with other informal like
checklists, rubric, interview and observation learning?
Supporting ELLs: To support English Language Learners, I will
promote dramatic play and peer English Language learner(ELL) with
more advance peer or native speaker to have peer to peer role
modeling, teacher can also give ELL extra time to encouragement to do
their work and show role model to ELL on how to practice their
language by promoting more opportunity for ELL for practice reading
and writing more but at the same time I will adjust my curriculum and
to be more sensitive to their needs. I will also encourage the parent read
more with the child in their native language at home to read to their
children both in their native language and in English
Supporting children with identified delays, speech, and/or disabilities: I
will have the child who has speech is intentionally sit across the teacher
during circle time and then I would positive role model the child and
use puppet shows and dramatic play as strategies to help children with
disabilities. I would offer scaffolding one on one corresponding support
and positive reinforcement on. It also good children with disabilities to
use puppet show to help children with language issue and promote
positive peer to peer social interaction with teacher and peer. I will use
music and dramatic play as my powerful tool to bridge the learning
since speech impair has issue with speaking but not with listening.
Therefore, I will provide more a 1 on 1 corresponding attention and
help that children by be more flexibility with changing my lesson using
more music, visual and dramatic as way to connect these children. I
will make my activities s more developmental appropriate for children
with special need. Being flexible teachers and encourage another peer
to help me to help that child.
we can also use our sea animals mask form small group activity but
asking children to pick form their own small group or teacher will also
assigned some group for them to do a puppet show to enhance
collaboration, and build self confidence in child who cannot speak
clearly. we will create room for everyone to speak out their ideas and
emotion through puppet show. From puppet children, can learn to work
in team with other in collaboration, need to communicate and
development better language skill with role learning from each other.
Children can also make a skit together and act out a skit for based on a
fun book as well.

Lesson Plan #3b

Closure

When the activity is completed, teacher will encourage children to

name out one sea animal mask and give it a name for its animals. When
their mask is finish, we schedule a time for show and tell to understand
childs thinking.
