System Replication
System Replication is the process of setting up a new PC-PRO+ Advanced system on another
PC using the same system defaults and options as the original system. You can also use the
System Replication feature to set up an optional Shop-Pro client system or Field-Pro client
system.
The System Manager application facilitates the process of setting up a new system by
creating a replica file which can be loaded to the new system to set up system defaults and
options and copy device program files to the new system.
3.
Define and save the system settings you want to include in the replica file (at least one
setting). For example, define system default values, DST dates, programming options,
and so forth.
4.
Select File | Create Replica File or click the button on the System Manager
Toolbar. The Create Replica File dialog is displayed.
Navigate to the folder where you want to store the replica file, enter a name for the replica
file, and click Save. A progress indicator is displayed and the file is saved with the default
file name extension .REPLICA. A results dialog is displayed.
21
System Replication
The second parameter is a fully qualified path including the name of the new replica
file.
Type the following in order to load the replica file (be sure to include the quote around
"Load Replica File" as it is the name of the executable):
"Load Replica File" <Full path to Replica File>\Replica Name.Replica
For example:
"Load Replica File" c:\Replica_Files\TestFile.Replica
3.
The progress indicator will be displayed briefly indicating the files are being copied.
22
1.
Close all PC-PRO+ Advanced applications. For example, close the System Manager,
Program Editor, TOU Calendar Editor, Display Editor, Schedule Editor, and Protocol
Editor.
2.
System Replication
Navigate to the folder that contains the replica file, select the replica file you want to
load, and then click Open. The Load Replica File Confirmation dialog is displayed
listing the items that will be deleted on your system and replaced with the items in the
Replica file.
4.
Choose an option:
To load the settings in this replica file to your system, click Yes. A progress
indicator is displayed. Your existing settings are deleted and the settings in the
Replica File are loaded to your system.
To keep the existing settings on your system, click No. No changes are made to
your system.
If you selected Yes, the Replica File is loaded to the system and the items listed are updated
with the values in the Replica File. A message is displayed stating that the Replica file loaded
correctly.
