resources.
Explain that today, they will be doing research in
partners or groups of 3 about different types of Native
American houses. Show them the worksheet with
questions to fill out.

Students listen and look.

Development

Closure

Before giving them their partners, show them how to

read aloud with their group. Give a bad example and a
good example. Ask what the other group members
should be doing at the time.

Students listen, and point out flaws in the first

examples and then discuss what should happen.

Tell the students their groups and let them choose their
home to research by drawing sticks. After they choose,
have one of the partners come get the informational
packet and the worksheets.
Let the students get to work. Go around and monitor
groups as they work, asking what they have learned so
far.

Students choose which house to research.

Facilitate discussion and information sharing from

students.

Groups take turns sharing about the house they

researched based on the information on the
worksheet.
Students think about what house would work
best for them (or be fun) and explain why they
choose it.

After all students have shared, ask the class which

house theyd like to live in and why.

Your reflection on the lesson including ideas for improvement for next time:

Students begin to read through their article with

their partners, answering questions on the
worksheet as they go.
