Quality Management Processes in

Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 provides a number of quality management processes that
you can use to ensure a high level of product quality within your supply chain. This
capability leads to optimized supply chain processes and higher customer satisfaction.
Quality management functionality in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 can help you manage
turnaround times when dealing with nonconforming products, regardless of their point of
origin. By linking diagnostic results to correction tasks, the system can schedule tasks to
correct problems and therefore help prevent recurrences in the future.
In addition to nonconformance management, quality management functionality includes
the ability to track issues by problem type (including internal problems) and to identify
solutions as being short-term or long-term. Statistics on Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
provide a window into nonconformance problems that have occurred historically and the
solutions that have been applied to correct them. Historical data can be used to help
review the effectiveness of quality measures that have been taken and to determine
appropriate measures to perform in the future.

ENABLING QUALITY CONTROL PROCESSES

Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 quality control functionality can be implemented
in flexible ways to match the needs of specific levels of supply-chain
operations. The following examples illustrate possible uses of these features.
Automatically initiate a quality control process based on predefined
criteria.
Block inventory during and after inspection to prevent the use of nonapproved inventory.

Quality association

Use item sampling as a part of quality association to define the amount of

current physical inventory that must be inspected. Sampling can be done
based on fixed quantities or on a percentage.
Create test types that include minimum, maximum, and target test values;
perform qualitative-versus-quantitative testing with predefined validation
results.
Specify an acceptable quality level (AQL) to control quality measure
tolerances.
Specify needed resources, such as test area and test instruments, to

Uses documentat management for detailed product specifications and
user-specific notes as part of reporting in the inspection process.
Maintains a record of nonconforming products and correlates these
products with additional nonconformance information to track down the
original cause of a problem.
Documents the cost of managing a nonconformance, including the items
(such as spare parts), miscellaneous charges, and time sheet hours
required to correct the nonconformance.
