What is County Committee?

The Democratic Party is governed by committees of citizens who are
registered Democrats, from the national level down to state and communitylevel. County is the most local level of party governance in New York. Bronx
Democratic County Committee is made up of almost 2000 members. These
members meet to organize the party, pick candidates for office and discuss
policy issues that affect Bronx residents.
How did I end up on the Committee?
There are two ways to get on the committee, either you went out and got your
own signatures or an elected official appointed you on their slate of candidates.
If you did not see your name on the ballot when you voted, this was because
you are assigned to different election district than you live or you were
unopposed.
Why is the Committee important?
You represent democratic voters in your election district! Each election
district is a few blocks within an Assembly District. This means you can have
influence over policy decisions, the structure of our party and have a real say
who is nominated for office.
What can I do as a County Committee Member?
You have the ability to vote on many things! You vote on the officers of the
committee, rules of the committee and most importantly, you have a vote in
picking the Democratic nominee in a special election. If you are a County
Committee member in your own neighborhood, you can organize around issue
in your community and serve as a resource for your neighbors.

YOU CAN MAKE CHANGE!
