7. A synchronous switch is a device able to follow the three phases of the


AC network and thus to connect/disconnect the capacitor bank at a
very precise moment. In such a way, overvoltage, restrike, prestrike,
inrush current and inrush frequency are completely avoided during
opening and closing. The consequent advantages are increased
SAFETY, RELIABILITY and network EFFICIENCY: longer life for both
capacitor bank and the device itself, higher operation frequency,
minimized disturbances on the whole network, minimized risk of
serious damage on both load and capacitor bank. Moreover, no
additional equipment would be required.
