Stress and Electric Fields
in Piezoelectric Composite Laminates

Abstract
‘A boundary integral approach is presented to analyze stress and electric fields in
piezoelectric composite laminates, which are a primary concer in the field of smart
structures. The governing boundary integral equations of the full-coupled electroelastic
problem are obtained by introducing the generalized displacements and generalized
fractions. The pure boundary nature of the model is recovered by transforming the
right-hand-side through the particular solution technique. The solution of the problem is
obtained by the multidomain boundary element method. Interlaminar stresses, electric
and mechanical displacements and electric potential distributions are analyzed for
