Our Lady of Unity Catholic

School
2016-2017 School Year

Dear Parents & Friends,

As you can imagine, the

students and staff are very
excited about the upcoming
break from school. So much
so, that sometimes it can
become easy to lose sight of
what
is
actually
being
celebrated and how we should
go about doing that. The priest
at my parents parish last
weekend spoke about how
important it is for our children to
learn to give and not just
receive. Falling into the trap of
gimme, gimme, gimme does
not allow us to live the true
meaning of Christmas. Even if
our children have to do extra
chores to earn money for gift
giving, re-gift something they
already
have,
or
make
something themselves, its
important to encourage those
actions and let them find the joy
in giving. Jesus did not come
to this earth and die on the
cross so that we could all
receive a new pair of shoes or
Xbox One. He came to show
us the way to the Father
through our deeds and actions.
Lets share that spirit with our
children. Merry Christmas to all
of you!
God Bless!

PRESCHOOL/ AFTER
SCHOOL CARE

We are moving forward with

the plans for starting up a
preschool and after school
care center in the convent for
the 2017-2018 school year.
The fire system, applications,
budget planning, and other
requirements are under way.
At this time, it is our plan to
begin enrolling for a day,
five day a week 4 year old
program in the afternoons and
the same for a 3 year old
program in the mornings in
February when we enroll for
other grades. If you havent
shared your interest with us
yet, please do so we can plan

NEXT WEEK
We wont send out blue
envelopes next week since
there are only two days.
Mass reflection sheets for all
Sundays and Holy Days when
were out of school are going
home today Dec. 18, 25, and
Jan. 1 forms will be collected
when we return.

MORNING DROP OFF

Since the weather has

gotten colder, we dont want to
leave the lunchroom ramp
door open in the morning
when students are being
dropped off. However, even
though it is closed, that door
will always be unlocked until
7:40 because Ms. Carmen or
Mrs. Butters might not be up
in the office before then. If
your child is tardy, but arrives
before 7:40, please go ahead
and drop them off at the back
ramp door. There will likely
not be anyone in the office to
open the door if you go
around to the front of the
building before then.
