OUR MISSION
STATEMENT:

Have you put up

all the Christmas
Decorations? If you
are like me, as soon
as the decorations
come down I feel
depressed, the beauty of Christmas goes
up in an instant, and
even more quickly it
goes away for another year. My question
is why does this have
to happen? Why
does the mystery, the

Rev. April Wegehaupt

beauty and the

splendor of Christmas have to last a
short few weeks.

not go away. We
need to open our
eyes in a new way
and see Gods beauty all around us in all
seasons.

Christmas should
be something that
last eternity in our
hearts. If we truly
believe in Jesus
Christ and have
accepted into our
hearts, our lives
then the splendor of
Christmas should

I pray that all of

you will pause and
take time to see
Christmas throughout 2017.
Blessings,
Rev. April

Attainable New
Year's Resolutions
This year, I resolve to...
- Gain weight. At least
30 pounds.
- Stop exercising. Waste
of time.
- Read less. Makes you
think.
- Watch more TV. I've
been missing some
good stuff.
- Procrastinate more.
Starting tomorrow.
- Take a vacation to
someplace important:
like, to see the largest
ball of twine.

Meets Tuesdays
Beginning January 10, 2017
9:30am or 5:30pm
When we hear the name Gideon, most of us think about his 300
soldiers or the fleece he laid out under the evening sky. But Gideons story is so much bigger than thatbigger than any one man
and his mark on Israels history. This study will encourage you to
recognize your weakness as the key that the Lord gives you to
unlock the full experience of His strength in your life. In what ways
do you feel insufficient? Those places create the greatest opportunity to experience the sufficiency of God. Instead of ignoring,
neglecting, or trying to escape your weaknesses, see them as the
gifts that they are, given specifically and strategically by God to
unlock the door of Gods strength.

Dont miss this study!

- Stop bringing lunch

from home: I should eat
out more.
- Not have eight children
at once.
- Get in a whole NEW
rut!
- Start being superstitious.
- Personal goal: bring
back disco.
- Create loose ends.

CALLING ALL
MEMBERS!

- Not believe politicians.

8th

On Sunday, January
following the 11:00am
service, we will be taking
down the Christmas
decorations.
Classes or individuals
who were responsible for
designated areas are
urged to be in attendance
for this event.
(Some classes may choose to
remove decoration during the
Sunday School hour.)

- Not drive a motorized

vehicle across thin ice.
- Wait around for opportunity.
- Focus on the faults of
others.
- Mope about my faults.
- Never make New
Year's resolutions
again.

UPCOMING EVENTS
How to become a member....
You are welcome to attend worship services, member or not. For
that matter, you can attend any
activity of the church and are
invited to do so. Becoming a
member is, in faith, saying you
want a deeper commitment to the
church. Our vows ask us to faithfully participate in the life of the
church with our prayers, our
presence, our gifts, our service
and our witness.
We hope you will be a part of
the ministry of the First United
Methodist Church. If you would
like to become a member, please
give us: Name(s), address, phone
number, e-mail address, anniversaries, birthdays and if you are
already a member of some other
church or not. If you are, we also
need the name of the church and,
if possible, the address. Please
give this to the pastor, or leave in
the church office.

Sunday, January 1, 2017: A Combined Worship Service will be held at

10:00am.
Sunday, January 8: Unhanging
of the Greens

Sunday, January 22: Those who travelled to Israel last year will be hosting
a dinner at 5:30pm in Fellowship Hall. Be watching for more details!
