CHAPTER I
Introduction

Background of the Study

Radio is one of our most important means of communication. People on Ships and in
Aircraft keep in contact with others on land by using it. Some also enjoyed listening to radio
programs during their leisure hours. It can be used using electricity, but during brownout,
electricity cannot be used. Some prefer to use batteries like the fisherman who used radio to
identify if theres a typhoon coming. Thus, the first practical use of wireless radio was then
called for ship-to-ship and ship-to-shore communication and it helped save the lives of thousands
of victims of sea disasters.
Usually, fishermen cant afford buying batteries. Some also have high payment in their
electric bill. So, the researchers wanted to produce a radio with the use of wind instead of
electricity.

Statement of the problem

This study aims to produce a wind powered radio. Specifically, it answers the following
questions:
A. Can wind provide a pressure which the radio needs?
B. Is it beneficial to people?
Hypothesis
A. Yes, wind can provide a pressure which the radio needs.
B. Yes, it is beneficial to people.

Significance of the study

This study aspires to achieve cheaper powered technology so that people will have fewer
bills in electricity. It also helps to conserve energy. This is also a profitable appliance for it was
used in acquiring latest news and entertainments regarding on the environmental issues.

Scope and Delimitation

This study only uses radio, dynamo and a propeller as main materials. This means that the specified
material does not go beyond any groups of function. It only goes to what is expected to happen, to
produce an effective wind powered radio that can be compared to a common one. Thus, electronic studies
are covered in this study.

CHAPTER II
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
Wind is air moving across Earths surface. Wind may blow so slowly and gently that it can
hardly be felt or it may blow so fast and hard that it smashes buildings and pushes over large
trees, strong winds can whip up great ocean waves that damage ships and flood lands.
Wind power is the energy associated with the air that moves over Earths surface. The
worlds growing demand for energy threatens to exhaust the supply of such fuels as coal, oil and
natural gas. But wind is a renewable energy source that cannot be used up. In addition, wind
provides clean, non -polluting energy.
Radio enables people to send words, music, codes and other signals over long distances.
People also use radio to communicate far into space. The most widespread and familiar use of
radio is for the form of one-way communication known as broadcasting. It broadcast feature
music, news, discussion, interviews, and descriptions of sports events, drama, and reviews of
cultural events, religious programs, and advertising. People wake up to clock radios and listen to
it while in their automobiles. It has many uses in addition to broadcasting. People in many
occupations use radio for two-way wireless communication. Scientists send radio waves into the
sky to learn about the weather. Telephone companies send messages across the ocean radio.
Many people operate amateur radio stations. Radio works by changing sounds or other signals
into radio waves, a form of energy called electromagnetic radiation. Radio waves travel through
the air and through space. They also go through some solid objects, such as the walls of
buildings. It receives changes then back into the original sounds.

METHODOLOGY
A. MATERIALS
Radio
Dynamo
Propeller
Wire
Electrical tape
B. PROCEDURE
The wire was connected to the dynamo.
Electrical tape was used in connecting the wire to the dynamo for safety.
The case of the battery was disarranged.
After that, the wires that were being connected from the dynamo were also connected
to the batterys case.
Lastly, the propeller was placed into the dynamo.
C. TESTING
In testing, an electric fan was used. It was set to its full power; the highest
possible wind pressure an electric fan can produced. The propeller was faced in front of
the electric fan as near as possible. The propeller starts to turn. As propeller turned, the
dynamo starts to generate.

The table shows the variance between the different types of radio, their advantages
and disadvantages are shown. Basing from the table, the radio that has more advantage is the
wind powered radio, through this table we could say that the wind powered radio is beneficial
rather than those radios that use electricity and battery.

CHAPTER V
CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

Wind powered radio therefore is beneficial to use especially for those people who
lived near the sea. Theres no need for them to use electricity to generate their radio or to buy an
expensive batteries. It just needs wind to generate.
We recommend that you use this product for its not only beneficial to you but this also
eco-friendly, this product is also applicable to those uncivilized places as long as wind is
available, try to use it and you will see the advantageous side of it.

ABSTRACT

The researchers conduct a study that aims to produce a radio which is wind powered, for
a beneficial change in socio-economic aspect, through this research we can produce a product
that can help people around a certain place to be updated on what is happening in their
environs. This product is highly recommendable in anyways as long as the availability of the
wind is good. This product could change peoples way of living they may see this as good help in
their living especially for those who are away from civilization. We the researcher could say with
full confidence that our product is a good accomplishment in the means of communication.
In making the product, several materials were used such as dynamo, propeller, electric tape
and radio. First, the wire was connected to the dynamo. Second, the case of the battery was
disarranged, after that the wires that are connected to the dynamo will be connected to the
battery case. Lastly the propeller was placed into the dynamo.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The researchers would like to thank everyone who supported this

research. Principally, to our Heavenly Father who made everything possible.
