Based on the novel Captain Nobody by Dean Pitchford, one of
themes in this novel is dealing with identity crisis .The theme can be
portrayed in this novel by using the character of Newton Newman.
The main character who is Newton Newman is ignored at school
and at home.He thought that the creation of Captain Nobody on Halloween
which was unintentional will gained much confidence and courage when he
was in the costume and becomes a hero after becoming Captain Nobody.
Mrs.Young, the class teacher,showed great corner for Newt and brought up
the matter to the principal,who was later joined by the school counselor and
nurse.
Evantually,Newton Newman becomes a real hero.He helps many
people with his friends Cecil and JJ.He also helps Mr.Clay the locksmith
who is suffering from Alzheimers.He gets lost and out of medicine.He was
helped by Captain Nobody to find his way back home.Next,Newton Newman
helped Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan the jewelry store owners who are rescued by
Captain Nobodys presence in a robbery attempt.
In conclusion,Newton Newman pretending to be so many
characters.For example,he change his appearance to become Captain
Nobody who is always help people in need.I hope I will meet someone who
is kind and always help people,however he also need help from others,like
how he help the people he saved.

The novel that I've study is Captain Nobody by Dean Pitchford. One
of the an incident that I would never forget in this novel is when Chris in the
big game and knock down by the game and fell into coma.
Before the big game, on the last Friday in October Newt pulled the
sports section from the newspaper.There was an article about his older
brother Chris , who was the star quarterback for the Ferocious Ferrets of
Fillmore High School.
Then, the big game had started between Fillmore High School with
Merrimac High. At halftime , the Fillmore Ferrets were leading. In the last
remaining seconds of the game Darryl Peeps tossed the ball to Chris who
caught it.
Chris started towards the goal line with the Merrimac team chasing
him. He crossed the goal line and both teams buried my brother in a
thunderous crash of shoulder pads and helmets Fillmore had won.
To sum up this novel, I always remember it because the tragedy
make me to remember that we must be honest in game and not keep a hate
in our hearts with our enemy. And i thought this novel had teach me to learn
how to solve problems with ourselves and think creative .

over sized clothes, Newt creates his best costume ever which is Captain
Nobody!
Newt feels so strong and confident in his new getup that he keeps
wearing it after Halloween is over. In no time, Newt assumes the role of a
hero in a string of exploits that include foiling a robbery and saving a
planeload of passengers. But will Captain Nobody be able to save the one
person he cares about most?
The character that i admire the most is Newton Newman. He is a 10
years-old boy and fourth grader at Appleton Elementary school. Hes short
and skinny boy and freckled skin. He always lives in the shadows of his
elder brother, Chris Newman, whom he loves dearly. Newt is also quiet,
unassuming person and always ignored by the others. He is creative and
talented to invent something which is his Halloween costume, Captain
Nobody. He has phobia of height or its called acrophobia.
The reason why i choose him because he is talented and creative
to invent something that can be attract people attention although he is only
10 years old. Moreover, He always help his parents to do some stuff that no
children can do what he can, such as making a breakfast for his family in
early morning, helping people when he plays the role of Captain Nobody.
Last but not least, he is observant to his parents order.

family is a basic social unit that thrives on love and compassion. In the
Newton family, real communication is lacking between Newt and his
parents. Newt feels neglected and has to learn to fend for himself.
Newt has a close-knit bond with Chris. Chris used to read to him
from his collection of comic books. Newt fondly recalls the moments he
shared with his brother. Newts Secret Superhero Sketchbook remained a
secret from his family. Chris only see Newts sketchbook after he returns
home from the hospital. Chriss praise, Youre good means the world to
Newt. In fact, Newt says, not the cheering crowds or the key to the city or
even the mayors speech- nothing made me feel as good as those words.
Mom and Dad try to make amends after they are told about Newts
state of mind following Chriss accident. Dad comes home and spends time
eating sloppy does with Newt. Mom talks to him more often. In the end, love
and compassion brings the family together again.
To sum up, it is important to love and be loved, denial of love or
rejection by family or society will lead to emotional problems. We must keep
communicating with those close to us. To sum up, these moral values must
be adhered for the sake of our lives.

One of the moral value is courage and resilience. It is about Newt

shows his courage and resilience when he endures the neglect of his
parents. Newt misses his brother dearly but is not allowed to visit Chris in
hospital. His parents do not answer his anxious questions about Chriss
condition and leave him to fend for himself. Newt, JJ and Cecil endure being
ignored by their classmates.
Besides that is love and compassion. Chris loves and cares for his
younger brother as IT can be seen in the way he patiently read comics to
Newt, taught Newt how to skate and helped Newt with homework. Other
than that, Newt shows his compassionate when he helps Mr Clay find his
way home.
Furthermore, truth and integrity. Newt uncertain Reggie Ratner is to
blame for putting Chris into a coma. When Newt recalls the truth, he takes
steps to rectify the matter. Other than that, Newt takes his responsibility of
looking after Ferocious seriously once the ferret is placed into his care even
though he is angry with Cecil for volunteering him for the task.
To sum up, these moral values must be adhered for our lives. We
should always listen to our conscience and act with truth and integrity. This
enables us to find solutions to our problems.

The novel that I have studied is Captain Nobody by Dean Pitchford.

In this story, Captain Nobody or Newton Newman is small, skinny, ten-yearold boy who is overlooked. He lives in the shadow of his older brother, Chris,
who is a famous football player for Fillmore High school. During the Big
Game, Chris is knocked out into a coma and is taken to the hospital.
One of the conflict in this story is lack of love and compassion in the
family. Parents didnt pay attention the need of the family. They always have
work to do until they disregard Newton Newman.
Besides that, the parents show less love to Newton Newman. They
only concern about his brother in the hospital. Eventually, the parents aware
of Newts presence and his needs. They started to care and show their love
to him.
In conclusion, we as a family always must give love and caring to our
children. I believe that the family strength is bounded by love.

The novel that I have studied is Captain Nobody by Dean Pitchford. In
this story, Newton Newman is the Captain Nobody who saving many lives.
Newton Newman football star brother, Chris is knocked into a coma during
the big game.

Newton has a strong relationship with his brother, Chris. When

Newton was four, Chris taught him how to draw. Newton always wake Chris
up in the morning . For example, Newt yell his brother to wake up until Chris
throw the pillow and chase Newt until outside house where Newt flush water
to Chris.
Not only that, that Newton is worried about Chriss condition. His
father shows a video clip of Chris on his phone and explains what the
machine, wires, and tubes are for. For example, every time he sees his
father or mother, Newton will asks about Chris as Newton is afraid of losing
his brother and misses him dearly.
Besides that, their relationship is loving and helpful. Chris always
seems to have time to help Newton with his homework or play a quick game
with him, even though he is busy and tired. For example, Chris gives
recognition for what Newton has done and praises him for being a true hero
in a television interview.
In conclusion, I have learn that having a relationship like them are
meaningful and I hope my sibling and I have a strong relationship for each
other.

Based on the novel that I have read Captain Nobody by Dean

Pitchford. Captain Nobody is about a boy named Newton Newman, or also
known as Newt. Newton is small, skinny,10-year-old boy living in the
shadow of his famous brother, Chris Newman.
One of the theme in this story is friendship. A great friendship is
evident through the support, encouragement, and motivation given by
Newton, Cecil and JJ to each other. They are the best friends, enjoying each
others company, always having fun and going through difficult times
together.
During the Halloween, when Newton feeling upset about Chriss
condition and does not come up with a Halloween costume JJ and Cecil
comfort him and help him to create one. They come up with the idea of
Captain Nobodys costume.
In conclusion, friendship is important to our life. They can help us
when in need. I also want friends like JJ, and Cecil because they are close
each other.They always caring about the problem that they facing.

The novel that I have studied in Form Five was Captain Nobody by
Dean Pitchford. In this novel, there was a memorable event and character
that changed my view which is Newton Newman or known as Captain
Nobody.
First, Newton Newman changed my view because he was a brave and
honest person. For example, he climbs the wobbly old tower to tell Reggie
Ratner that Reggie did not hit his brother Chris Newman and Darryl Peeps
was the one that knocked Chris out from the big game that night. In addition,
we cannot accuse someone without any proof or evidence.
Second, Newton Newman willing to helps someone when they need
any help. As an example, Newton helps Mr Clay, a former locksmith that has
a dementia. Mr Clay was lost and did not have a medication so Newton
brings Mr Clay back to his house. Therefore, we must helps people when
they need any help although we did not know that person.
Third, Newton Newman cooked a breakfast for his family. For an
example, Newton preparing a breakfast for his family because his mom and
dad was busy with their works while his brother was tired. Furthermore, we
must be self-reliant because when we are grown up, we must take care
ourselves.
In conclusion, this novel has set a good example and we must
emulate the characters traits because it might be happen in our real life.

The novel that I learnt is Captain Nobody by Dean Pitchford. In this

story Newton Newman is Captain Nobody, he is ten years old and he is
school at Appleton Elementary. It is the last friday in October, Newt is
preparing breakfast while elder brother Chris still sleeps, mom and dad are
busy answering early morning phone sells.
The character that i like is Newton Newman. He is so kind hearted.
He wants to help everyone who his in danger. He wants to cheer his mom
when his mother was sad about Chris. He don't blame his classmates who
laugh because he wearing Captain Nobody to his school.
Then, he is so brave. He fought with the robber to Mr.Sullivan shop.
He tried to sight his own trauma about height when he clim the ladder to
save the people, no foar face a robbary who have a pistol.
After that, he is so friendly and care to his bestfriend. He help Cecil
to climb pile of garbage to take the bass drum even thought he was afraid of
height. He don't want to let his friend down about holloween so he just make
his own costume so he just join them. Help Cecil retrieve the old drum from
the dumpster despite his fear of height.
To sum up this novel, the story give me many of moral that I must to
learnt like we must loving each other, hard-working and responsibility. I hope
I want to be like Newton Newman because he is so kind and brave.

The novel i have studied is Captain Nobody,written by Dean
Pitchford. There are many interesting incidents in the novel.
Firstly,the important event that i choose is when Chris knocked
down in the Big Game. The Big Game is the highlight of the American
Football season in the town of Appleton. New has been Captain Nobody
since his brother knocked down during the Big Game.Although,Chris was
coma with a few day to wake from coma.He forgives Darryl for knocking his
helmet during the Big Tackle.
After all the incident,it affect all Chris family member. Starting from
their parent,they show more attention to Newt and Newt become Captain
Nobody.
In conclusion,it is important to know each life in our family
member.They are the most important people in our life.Helping people is a
normal thing done.We must care our family to keep them safe.

One of the moral values that I find in this novel Captain Nobody by
Dean Pitchford is responsibility.
We must be responsible for our own actions. In addition ,when
ferociuos runs onto a busy highway, Newton feels he is responsible for
ferocious' s safety, so that's why he risk his life and tries to rescue frecious.
Then ,when Reggie Ratner is on the roof of the Appleton water
tower , and people think that he is commuting suicide ,so that's why Newton
feels the urgue to tell Reggie the truth about the accdient during the big
game. Because he is the only one who saw what happened during the
game ,he decides to climb up the water tower to convince Reggie to choose
his mind.
Other than that ,as a 10 years old boy ,Newton not only takes care
of himself but also his family .For example ,Newton offers to take overs
preparing breakfast for his family after his mother pours milk into a bowl
filled with strips of raw bacon last year.
The conclusion is this novel teaches us to be responsible for our
own action to make our family and other people loving you and stay happy.

by Dean Pitchford there are some examples about the positive and negative
qualities of the main character, Newton Newman(Newt).There are 3 positive
and 1 negative qualities of the main character that I found.
One of positive qualities that i found is Newton Newman become a
hero after becoming Captain Nobody.Newton Newman wants to be hero
because he want to save everyone.
Second,creative.Newton Newman creates several superhero
characters in his sketchbook. He has two friends JJ and Cecil.They were
creative to drawn a superhero costume.
Third,start to become courageous after becoming Captain Nobody
since one Halloween Night. Newton start to get burden after he becoming
Captain Nobody and save people who are need.
There only one negative about this main characther.He did not

I like the ending of novel Captain Nobody because it ends happily.

Chris wakes up from a six-days coma after Chris is knocked unconscious
during the big game football and falls in to a coma. By the way, he conscious
while Newton yells, hit the showers! which wakes him up from a coma.
Furthermore, i like the ending of the novel because the relationship
between Newtons families is improve. Before Chris wakes up from the
coma, Newton parents are busy looking after his brother at the hospital.
Finally, Newton parents and Newtons brother back home, make Newton
feels very happy to have his family back home.
Other than that, i like the ending of the novel because it nurtures
meaningful moral values to the reader of the novel. For example, we must
be love towards our family members and friends. After Chris is knocked into
a coma during the big game, Newton fends for himself without relying on his

The themes of this novel is family love. Newton is very carring to his

morning. Newt loves his brother and is proud of him. He is overlooked at
home because his famous brother gets all the attention but he does not
complain or resent his family. Newt hero worship his brother and regards
him as a legend. He is eager to show it to his parents and gets annoyed
when they do not look at it. Every time his father or mother comes home, he
asks about Chris. He asks his father when he can visit Chris and is
disappointed when he is not allowed to visit him.
In addition, the friendship. Newton very helpful. Newton is afraid of
heights but agrees to climb up the huge dumpster to help Cecil bring down a
discarded drum, cecil dream drum for him. After school , Newt is going
home when JJ calls him and asks for help. He is reluctant to go but when
he hears JJ screaming, he rushes to meet her in front of Sullivans Jewelry
Store on Duncun Street. Newt does not want JJ to tell anyone about the
robbery as he would be in danger.Besides, his family would be upset or
worried if they know about it, so he keeps it a secret.
As a conclusion, I have learn that we must love our family because
family is are number in we life. I also learn we should help people in need.

To sum up this novel, the character that most interesting in the novel
is Newton Newman because he is so brave, loyal and confident. From this
novel , I can learnt to be a good person who can believe with their self in

There are many settings that i learnt in this novel. Firstly,at Newt's

Also, Mr Marcus and Mrs young are compassionate and

understanding when Newt turns up at school in his Halloween outfit . They
urge the principal not to punish Newt but to consider Newt's feelings .

There are many settings that i find in the novel Captain Nobody by

First, in the kitchen. Every morning Newt prepares and serves
everyone breakfast.in the kitchen,Newtprepares breakfast and reads the
sport section in the newspaper about the Big game and chris .He engerly
shows them the article on chris but they do not even look it.
Second, at the corner of warren and kander street. After school
Cecil sees a big bass drum right on top of crates and boxes in a dumpster at
the corner of warren and kander. He wants it but but is scared of plastics
bags.He calls Newt for help.Newt helps to bring the drum down and Cecil
lowers it into a low,red wagon.
Third, Mr Clay's house. Newt helps to take Mr Clay home because
he lost his way.Mr Clay is the locksmith who used to help Newt's mother.But
now,his mind has became fuzzy.

This story about a young man who loves to draw superhero costumes. One
moral value that is portrayed in this novel is we must help those who are in
need.
The first evidence is Captain Nobody was responsibility. He help Mr
Clay who has dementia. Realising that the old man is lost and has no
medication, Captain Nobody takes him home.
The second evidences is Captain Nobody was kind. Captain Nobody
help Mr Sullivan from the robber who want to rob his jewellery shop. Mr
Sullivan thanked Captain Nobody for helping him from stopping the robbery.
The third evidence is Captain Nobody was brave. Captain Nobody
was saved Reggie Ratner at the water tower root. He was supressing his

Title : Determination in ones life
Based on the novel that I learn Captain Nobody by Dean Pitchford,
Captain Nobody is about Newton Newman being treated like nobody in his
family and friends except JJ and Cecil.
Based on the novel Captain Nobody the theme of determination in
ones life has affect two characters in the story which is Newton Newman
and Cecil Butterworth. Newton Newman determine himself to help people.
He help Mr and Mrs Sullivan jewellery shop from robbery and he also help
Reggie Ratner from attempting to jump from the water tower.
Newton Newman also determine himself to be a brave person.
When he wear his Captain Nobody costume he feels very safe, protective
and, gain braveness from wearing it. Newton Newman fought the robber at
Mr and Mrs Sullivan jewellery shop with his bare hand. He doesnt afraid of
the robber even though he has a gun. Newton Newman has an acrophobia
but he still climbed the water tower to save Reggie Ratner from attempting
to jump from it.
Cecil Butterworth determines himself to be a Drummer. He practised
every time and chance he gets. He never give up for his dream to become a
good drummer. He also determine to never give up, Cecil cant practice
without his bass drum , so he summon Captain Nobody to retrieve it from
the dumpster so he can practice.
As a conclusion we must determine ourselves to become a good
and useful person and we must take an action to make it happen.

The novel that I have studied is Captain Nobody by Dean Pitchford.
In this story the character that is weak is Darryl.
The reason why i choose is because Darryl is the one who actually
knocks Chris out into a coma.
Besides, the reason why I choose that character is he comes with
Colby Bryn , the head cheerleader of Chris's team to Newt's class with
Ferocious will visit each classroom to remind everyday about the fight Chris
is putting up .
Finally, I choose Darryl as he determined and persevering. In this

I hope I cannot make him as Darryl because the Darryl that is weak
and i hope i can make him as my idol with Chris Newman even I thought he
was'nt existed but by reading the Captain Nobody novel we can harm many

Yes, Im enjoy reading this novel which entitled Captain Nobody by
Dean Pitchford.
I like the beginning of the story where the main character who is
Newton Newman was avoided from his family and his schoolmate. The
beginning of this story is really interesting and make me read it until the
ending of the story.
In the climax of the story, Newt or Captain Nobody was climbing the
water tower to save Raggie Ratner who that thing alleged victim of knock
down Chris. This climax make me really interesting because Newt who is
afraid of height has climb the water tower to save Raggie Ratner.

The ending of story really touched me because his brother, Chris

has wake up from coma. The relationship between his family become good
and his schoolmate not ignored him anymore.
The plot of the story also really interesting. I hope that I have a kind
heart and helpful like Newt who is not angry when his family and his
schoolmate ignored him.

The novel that Ive study is Captain Nobody by Dean Pitchford. One
of the theme of Captain Nobody that ive have learnt from this novel is about
love binds a family together. I agreed with this statement, because family
is in our half life and without our family we cant live as happily like we has
right now.
Newton Newmans family, Newts dad was a busy housing
contractor and always on the phone , and Newts mom was a housing agent
that also always talking on her cell phone, Newt also has a brother that is
Chris Newman, Chris was a football star. Newton Newman is neglected and
ingored at home and school , by his family and friends because of despite
having a famous brother. But, however Newton still being a responsible as a
brother,son and friend with what has happen to him. Newt still makes a
breakfast for his family even ingored and still care about his brother Chris.
Newton Newman was the one responsible son.
Other than that, love and compassion, Newtons brother Chris. Chris
has love and cares for his younger brother as can be seen in the way he
patiently read comics to Newt, taught Newt how to skate and helped Newt
with homework. To love and cares for each other in the family and in society
can makes our life richer and more meaningful. Also, helps us to build a
relationship. it is important to love and to be loved. We must keep our
communicating with those who are close to us.
A family is a basic social to us that on our love and compassion.
Parent are busy, Newt loved his family members although sometimes he did
not get the attention he deserved. Newt also together with his parent , would
attend and give support in every game that Chris was playing.They also
were willing waiting for Chris to wake up from this coma. Chris loved his
brother as they would share jokes when met each other. Whatever has
happen , family will be always number one in our life.

Captain Nobody is about a boy named Newton Newman,or also known as
Newt.Newton is a small,skinny 10year old boy living in the shadow of his
famous brother,Chris Newman,a star quarterback for the local high school
football team.Most people do not know that Chris has a younger
brother.Chris is knocked into a coma during the biggest game.His parents
start spending all their time at the hospital,lieaving Newton to fend for
himself the entire week.
The theme of love and friendship is definitely portrayed in this
novel.Newton good friends,Cecil and JJ,accompany Newton when he goes
through a difficult time.Knowing that Newton is worried and upset after Chris
accident,both of them bring a CD each to cheer him up.They insist that
Newton must join them in the trick-or-treating to help keep him mind off the
accident.They help him come up with a Holloween cosume.
Besides that,Newton helps Cecil to bring down a drum from a higt
dumpster even though Newton is afraid of heigt.He realises it is Cecil dream
drum and goes out of the way to help him.
Other than that,Chris shows his brotherly love for Newton.He gives
recognition for what Newton has done and praises him for being a true hero
in a televistion interview.He also compliments Newton on his sketchers in
the
12 secret superhero sketchbook.Chris wants Newton to lead the Victory
Parade.
In a nutshell,I have learnt that love and friendship is important to our
life because if we had no friend,no one wants to help us when we are in
trouble.

In conclusion, being one family we should love and cares our family
members and live happily with them. Beside that,we must helpful each other
especially during a crisis. Life can be difficult and unfair at times, but we
should be positive and soldier on. Truth and integrity build character. These
value also lead to better understanding. We should always listen to our
conscience and act with truth and integrity, This enables us to find solutions
to our problems. We must respect, support and protect our beloved ones to
make our family full of happiness.

which he feels excited about. But unfortunately, his father wants to have it
with Newtons mother at the hospital. This would have upset Newton but he
does not show is emotions.
Lastly, Chris loved his brother as they would share jokes when they met
each other. Chris shows his brotherly love for Newton. He gives recognition
for what Newton has done and praises him for being a true hero in a

In a nutshell, i have learnt that we must loving towards our family
members because no one knows our problems but family was the first

they do not say it much and that love can be expressed in different way. We
have learned that we do not just need to express our love for others but
need to see love in the things others do and say around us.
