INTRODUCTION

Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design,
construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including
works like roads, bridges, canals, dams, and buildings.
( From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_engineering#Environmental_engineering )
In short, civil engineering focus areas in construction. However, we as civil engineers are
going to deteriorate our environment when we build something no matter it is a building or a
new material. Everything we do in civil engineering affects the environment, and the
environment affects the humans.
Therefore, we as Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering (FKAAS) students
in UTHM shall take our responsibilities to protect our environments and improve
environmental quality without disturbing natural and human activities. One of the approaches
that is related to our report is waste management. This includes 4Rs : Reduce, Reuse,
Recycle, Recreate. We estimated 30,000 to 33,000 tons of waste being produced a day in
2011, compared to 22,000 tons of solid waste produced daily in 2012.

By minimizing waste, and reusing and recycling, we can cut waste by up to 50
percent and even more. We use waste product to build up a new product which is related to
our daily life. Waste product is the boxes while the new product is the make up rack.
The reason why we choose box as our waste products because box has a lot of
benefits. Box can be accessed anywhere like classroom, library, coffee shop, home, airport,
hotel, or conference center. Box ensures complete safety of the good and prevent packaged
item from vibration, shock and jerks. Besides boxes are flexibility. Boxes can be cut, folded,
glued, stapled and taped. We can build any size and shape of boxes. Boxes are light weight
and easy to handle and transport as well.

CONCLUSION

As a conclusion, there are many uses of recycled materials. As well as to save the
earth, we can create new applications using these recycled materials. Besides, it can save the
cost of buying materials to produce something innovative. Given the state of the earth now
that is getting worse with rubbish, with produce something innovative can reduce the quantity
of garbage that was on this earth, especially garbage that require a long time to decompose.
