Oracle Retail Xstore Suite Value Proposition

In developing Release 16.0 of the Oracle Retail Store Applications, key trends in retail
planned to be focused on are to ensure our customers are positioned to meet the changing
demands of the retail marketplace and significantly improve the customer experience.
Oracle Retail Store Applications Release 16.0 is planned to focus on the following key areas:

Inspire: Drive Engagement

Every Brand is highly motivated to ensure that its customers remain loyal and choose to
shop within their stores. With the arrival of a generation who are fully enabled to use mobile
technology, retailers have to start to increase the knowledge of their staff and also move
them away from behind the cash wrap to engage with their customers on the shop floor.
To be able to have the insight into their customers at the point of engagement, the sales
associate needs to be equipped with their own mobile technology. The experience that is now
needed when a consumer and retailer are working together in collaboration differs greatly
from the traditional mobile applications, as well as, traditional register applications.
Ensuring that customer information required to enable the associate, combined with more
extensive product information and the ability to make more recommended choices is
becoming the shop floor minimum requirement.
Recognizing the significance of the mobile-enabled associate and equipping them with the
relevant tools has long been a primary objective of the Oracle Retail Store applications and
combining the strengths of Oracle Retail Order Broker, Oracle Retail Customer Engagement,
and Oracle Retail Xstore onto a mobile form factor drives this functionality further into the
store.
With Release 16.0, the Xstore Mobile solution set is planned to gain a full tablet experience to
support the current handheld solution, to enable a more complex and collaborative
experience to occur away from the register. Where the handheld was about efficiency and
flexibility, the tablet is intended to be about new experiences and collaborative engagement.

Simplify: Run lean and efficient

For a retail business to be both lean and efficient, today flexibility is vital. The ability to react
to changing market trends, product choices, and even day to day local events means
information and system configurability need to be even more important.
To address this reporting, trading hours, cash management, and store formats all need to be
as flexible as possible, but have consistent and efficient process that underlie them .
With Release 16.0, Xstore is planned to be updated and extended in many of the operational
aspects of the store system to enable greater flexibility and control for the retailer.

Anticipate: Turning Data into Profit

With many retailers looking to new markets, our goal is to provide the best solutions for
deployment anywhere in the world.
Base products are planned to contain the foundation components to provide localized
implementations. Requirements for payment processing, taxation, fiscal printing, and so on,
differ by region. Localization foundations are planned to provide the frameworks and
configuration accelerators are expected to be released for key markets to reduce the
implementation effort required. The framework is intended to enable Oracle Consulting or
Oracle partners to create their own accelerators or configuration components for additional
markets without new code being required.

Oracle Retail Xstore Suite Planned

Enhancements
This section discusses enhancements planned for the release.

Empowered Commerce
Store systems are one of the key pillars to driving the empowered commerce experience. As
bricks and mortar and digital merge into a single commerce experience, Shop Anywhere is
now a reality. Retail Solutions must from all vectors, deliver the processes to support
accurate, real-time, enterprise inventory visibility, combined with a single view of the
customer. Solutions must enable the customer and associate to have a consistent and
collaborative experience that provides consistent data and blends the old silos into a
shopping experience no matter how the journey starts or end.
Digital sales should be able to stop and then restart in store, instore sales should be able to be
completed on line or through instore endless aisle or commerce anywhere experience.
The challenge for retailing today is to meet and exceed the expectations of their customer by
delivering simple but unified experiences across every point where their business is exposed
to their customer

Inspire: Drive Engagement

This section discusses our continued investment in extending the capabilities of the Oracle
Retail Xstore Suite to drive customer engagement within the retailers business.
Xstore Tablet---Xstore Mobile is planned to be enhanced in Release 16.0 to incorporate
additional functionality to improve the customer experience away from the register. This is
expected to include the introduction of a tablet-optimized release of the Xstore Mobile
solution. Taking the original Xstore Mobile offering released in 7.0, the tablet is planned to
provide an experience consistent with the look and feel of the traditional register, but
designed to operate on a range of tablet platforms and form factors.

Commerce Anywhere---Functionality is planned to be extended to include Commerce

Anywhere journeys for Order for instore collection, Order for other store collection, and
Order for ship to home. Additional functionality is expected to include Returns, as well as,
Order processing from the back office perspective (pick, pack ship, collect).

Retail Extension Module---Integration to the Retail Extension Module (RXM) is planned to

enable extended product information, recommendations, and the ability to review a digital
cart in the store.

UI Updates---Extended and new layouts of the Customer Engagement views in Register

and Tablet mode are planned to provide clearer and more concise information sets on the
customers they are engaging with.

Mobile Punch-out---Xstore Tablet also plans to introduce the framework to support thirdparty mobile applications from within. This is referred to as the Xstore Punch-out. The
framework is planned to be designed to call out to a web-based application, micro site, or
workflow, and then provide a method of returning a list of products or services back to
register for completion of the sale; thus ensuring adherence to existing payment, inventory.
and store operational procedures. Examples for use of the punch-out could include,
Clienteling, Ticketing, and Complex bespoke workflows for Telco or Opticals.

Simplify: Run Lean and Efficient

This section discusses our continued investment in extending the capabilities of the Oracle
Retail Xstore Suite to drive operational efficiency within the retailers business:
24 Hour trading---As more retailers look towards extended trading hours and, in some
cases, twenty four hour trading, changes are needed to manage the always open store
operating model. These include addressing all the traditional day end activities that may
historically have occurred during the non-trading period. System updates, database backups,
and information management all have to be supported in a background mode that allows the
registers to continue to trade. Additionally, the concept of a rolling close is planned to be
added to enable the store to trade while an end of trading day occurs on a register by register
basis. Twenty four hour trading is part of a commitment to both Xstore Retail and Xstore
Grocery solutions.

IP Enabled Store---To better enable the introduction of mobility in stores, Xstore is

planned to support an IP-enabled store model where all the peripherals in use are network
connected rather than direct to device. This is expected to enable the use of shared
components such as cash draws, printers, and payment terminals; the associate can select the
devices nearest to that on the shop floor at the time. Offering this flexibility is intended to
enable the retailer to determine whether they wish to use portable payment devices or
continue to use the more robust network connected devices at locations that become wrap
stations rather than cash desks. This model is intended to enable the retailer to start to
rethink layout and how customers navigate the store.

Deferred Cash Management---In Release 16.0, it is planned that a retailer will have the
option to complete cash management tasks as part of the day end process or configure the
system to defer this to the future. For retailers who do not have cash office staff instore over
the weekend period, this will enable cash to be counted and day end completed on a future
date. This model is planned to be supported in both regular trading and twenty four hour
trading models, increasing the retailers flexibility at the end of the trading day.

Updated Reporting---All Xstore reporting are planned to be updated to a more modern

look and feel. Report selection criteria have been reviewed to reduce the number of actual
menu options, but offer greater control on the reports themselves. Graphical elements are
planned to be improved to better enable management to see areas of concern and act without
having to work through the detailed levels. The new format is expected to be supported on
both register and Xadmin reporting.

Real-time Promotional Cache Refresh---It is planned that promotional updates will be

able to be applied manually or automatically to a register or mobile device without the need
to shut down and restart.

Enhanced Airside Functionality---Airside functionality is planned to be extended to

support multi-leg flights, layovers, and support for flights delayed through the 24 hour
windows previously operated.

Anticipate: Turning Data into Profit

This section outlines planned enhancements that demonstrate our continued investment in
globalization and localization foundations:
QAS Experian Integration---As the use of validated addresses becomes more significant in
both Customer Engagement and also ordering from any channel, there is increased pressure
on retailers to find the most efficient way to obtain and retain a correct and consistent
address. Xstore plans to deliver the integration through web services to the QAS Experian
address lookup services as part of the base offering.

Tax Free Shopping Integration---With many retailers operating stores in locations where
their customers are eligible for tax free shopping, Xstore Release 16.0 is plans to provide
integration to the two market leading solution providers in Fintrax and Global Blue. The
integrations intend to enable customers who wish to take advantage of these services to do
so without manual form filling. Both solutions link to central services by web service calls
and are recognized by the Custom and Excise services for refunds at airports throughout
Europe.

Configuration Accelerators---In Xstore Release 15.0, Configuration Accelerators were

introduced to provide predefined configurations to enable speedier implementations to
named countries. The framework that underlies this can be used extensively to deliver
configuration into a wide range of additional countries who may not have specific
accelerators, but use the same technology configurations. Xstore Release 16.0 plans to
continue to build on the Configuration Accelerator approach to provide additional fiscal
country support.

Language Support---The Xstore Suite plans to continue to increase the number of

languages support by the base product to enable customers to continue to expand its new
markets with confidence.
