ELEMENTARY CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT COACH

Job Description
Continuous Improvement Coach responsibilities are based upon several basic principles that align
closely with the District Strategic Roadmap and Building VisionCards. CI Coaches:
1. Use data of student learning needs to galvanize the staff around curriculum, assessment data, and
instructional priorities that are identified in the building VisionCard and staff development plans
2. Focus on student learning needs unique to assigned sites and what knowledge and skills are necessary
to support learning
3. Target increased student achievement
In order to help facilitate building alignment to the District Strategic Roadmap, CI Coach responsibilities
include the following:
Data Collection and Analysis Support:
1. Provide assistance to the principals and leadership teams in the access, analysis, and interpretation of
data.
2. Help integrate DIBELS, NWEA, and MCA data into PLC discussions.
3. Support building use and development of building VisionCards.
4. Support and facilitate DIBELS at the building level
Professional Development and Continuous Improvement Support:
1. Provide support for the building principal and leadership teams:
Assist the building principal and leadership team with linking building goals to the district vision
Assist the building principal and leadership team in the development and implementation of building
VisionCards
2. Provide support for Professional Learning Communities:
Pose the questions that focus the attention of a school on the central issues of a professional learning
community and engage staff in the consideration of those questions
Provide support to building principals and leadership teams in leading PLC work in their building
Assist leadership teams in the training of staff in collective inquiry, team building, establishing group
norms, and reaching consensus
Assist the building leadership team with the synthesizing and sharing of research and best practice
3. Provide support for District-level Professional Development:
Work with the Professional Development Coordinator and the Assessment Coordinator in the
implementation of the Continuous Improvement Process.
Stay current with Best Practice methods in the area of professional development
Assist in the development of professional development plan associated with the District Strategic
Roadmap
Assist in the review and approval of site professional development plans and subsequent award of
exemplary funds
Teaching and Learning Support:
1. Act as a resource for content standards:
Develop and maintain a high level of expertise, through training and ongoing networking
Coordinate with others and inform process in identifying necessary academic interventions
Mentor and support implementation of reading, math, social studies, and health in all buildings.
2. Train and support teachers new to the district in reading and math implementation
3. Support teachers in the implementation of best practices in instruction and classroom assessments

4. Support RtI model

Qualifications:
Valid MN teaching license
Minimum 5 years teaching experience and tenured in this District
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Commitment to personal professional development
Demonstrated leadership
Understanding of current research and practice related to teaching, learning, and leadership.
Proven experience in motivating colleagues to maximize their potential, an excellent facilitator.
Understanding of technology and its applications in education.
