Megascopic Description :
Fresh colour light grey, weathered colour light brown, crystalline texture, poor sorting, open
fabric, low permeability, dull, hardness 3.5-5.5, tenacity compact
Microscopic Description :
The colour is creamy brown under plane polarized view and dark brown under cross
polarized view, this sample is a grain supported limestone with mud presence, it is composed
of 55% matrix (micrite) and 45% fragment dominated with skeletal fragment (Foraminifera
sp, Dentalina sp, etc) and non-skeletal fragment is lithic fragment of limestone, the fabric is
open fabric, poor sorted, and cemented with carbonate minerals

Rock Name

55 %
: Transparent colour under plane polarized view,
high order colors under crossed polars, very high
relief that changes with rotation, rhobohedral
cleavage, no pleocroishm
45 %
Skeletal Fragment
: It is the rest of shell organism such as
Foraminifera sp, Dentalina sp, etc These are
normally shell and skeletal fossils of the
organisms that make up the limestone.
Non Skeletal Fragment
: Non skeletal fragment is a lithic fragment coming
as a weathered product of another limestone
(grainstone, Dunham 1962). Grain roundness is
subangular and poorly sorted
: Brownish red, high relief, no pleochroism
: Wackestone (Dunham, 1962)
