Executive Summary:
As we all know very well that time and tide wait for none. So, because of this
rapid change in time and era we have to cope with it. During this era I got an
opportunity of getting practical knowledge about the pest control company in
Pakistan. So to quench the thirst of practical exposure and for getting the
basic knowledge about pesticide products and services I joined Nayab Pest
Control Services. During six week in NPCS I gather all necessary information
about NPCS.
Efforts have been made to compile this report in such a way that activates its
salient features not only for students but also for the layman. I have divided
this report into different Chapters.
First Chapter is about introduction of Pest and Pest Control. Second Chapter
is about company introduction and profile of industry and marketing
department which gives us description about how to get in market with new
ideas and how to sale products and services to your new clients and how to
manage our current clients and how to satisfy them with your products and
services.
Chapter Three is about SWOT ANALYSIS of NPCS. Chapter Four tells about my knowledge
because here I gave different type of Recommendation to different problems.

Introduction:
What is Pest?
A pest is any animal or plant which has a harmful effect on humans, their food or their living
conditions. Pests include animals which:

Carry disease-causing micro-organisms and parasites, for example, mosquitoes which


carry Ross River virus and Murray Valley encephalitis.

Attack and eat vegetable and cereal crops, for example, caterpillars and grasshoppers.

Damage stored food. For example, rats and mice may eat grain in silos, rice or biscuits in
shops and homes and contaminate this food with their droppings and urine.

Attack and eat farm and station animals. For example, feral dogs (dingoes) kill or maim
many sheep and goats each year; foxes will kill poultry, lambs and many species of native
wildlife; and feral cats also prey on native wildlife.

Damage clothing. Silverfish, for example, eat holes in clothes.

Damage buildings. For example, termites can cause considerable damage to timber in
buildings.

Bite people. For example, bed bugs (so called because they often bite people in their
beds) are very difficult and expensive to control. Their bites can cause great irritation to those
bitten and, like mosquito bites, can become infected if scratched.
There are thousands of different kinds of pests which are harmful to humans. The great majority
of these are types of insect.

Types of Pest:

Household Pests:
All homes occasionally run into problems with household pests. While most are merely a
nuisance, some may bite, sting or transmit disease. A few may even cause serious structural
damage which can impact the value of your house. While it may seem easier to reach for a can of
bug spray, this may not be the best way to fix the problem. Many homeowners today are growing
leery of the harmful effects of household chemicals and are turning to safer, least-toxic solutions.
Understanding the problem is the first step in finding a healthy solution. Once a pest is identified,
you will be better able to determine the factors which limit its reproduction and survival
potential. For example, all pests need water, shelter and food to survive. By limiting one or more
of these basic necessities you can significantly impact the number of pests present. Combined
with natural control measures, a longer lasting, more significant impact is made.

No one wants to live in pests, and for that people need Pest control companies to treat their home
and live pest free life.

History of Pest Control:


Pest control is at least as old as agriculture, as there has always been a need to keep crops free
from pests. In order to maximize food production, it is advantageous to protect crops from
competing species of plants, as well as from herbivores competing with humans.
The conventional approach was probably the first to be employed, since it is comparatively easy
to destroy weeds by burning them or plowing them under, and to kill larger competing
herbivores, such as crows and other birds eating seeds. Techniques such as crop rotation,
companion planting (also known as intercropping or mixed cropping), and the selective breeding
of pest-resistant cultivars have a long history.

As the time runs pest control treatment give awareness to people and with the time period pest
control treatment for household took place in 20th centaury in US, In start of the pest control
treatment they use chemicals which cause hazard to human life, with the help of chemist now
technologies were defined and passage of time pest control treatment covered over the world
because no area is hidden from pests.
Now in Pakistan there is lot of companies which is working as pest control companies and
providing their best services to protect you from pests.

Profile of the Industry:


Pest control is a process for regulation and management of different living organisms that are
harmful for human population. Pests such as termites, bedbugs, cockroaches, certain reptiles and
other unwanted organisms affect day-to-day life and hinder human activity by interfering in
agricultural, residential, commercial and industrial processes. Pest control management is carried
out to eliminate pests and ensure hygiene and healthy lifestyle. Pest control management can be
done with the help of various techniques, such as chemical control, mechanical control, and other
pest control.

Market Value and Forecast


The global pest control services market has been estimated to be valued at US$ 16,007.2 Mn by
2015-end and is expected to expand at a 5.4% CAGR over the forecast period (20162026).

Market Dynamics
Growth of the global pest control services market is driven increasing pest population, attributed
to the largely available food sources for small organisms and conducive living habitats. Besides,
growing consumer awareness concerning health and hygiene in developed and developing
countries is further fuelling market demand for pest control services. Other promising factors,
such as easy availability of pest control service providers and increasing economic activity are
also contributing to the growth of the market for pest control services. Changing global climate
conditions conducive for the growth and evolution of pests, which affect human health, is

control and other applications such as moisture control, resellers, etc. Among these application

Regulatory Body:
All Pest control companies working in Pakistan must be registered under Govt. of Pakistan and if
they are importers of pesticide/insecticide chemicals they are bound to get registration from
Govt. of Pakistan Plant and protection department which is in Karachi. The products they are
using must be approved by WHO (World health organization).
In now a days govt. restricted pest control companies after the incident occurred in Jhelum
School where due to wrong treatment of fumigation lot of students were died.

Target Market:
Pest control companies have open opportunity to work anywhere they want, there is no limitation
in target marketing, as everyone knows that everyone in this world get rid of pests for that they
need to treat their areas, so for that pest companies work for them. No worries if your area is
open FIELD, HOME, FACTORY, INDUSTRY, GREEN HOUSE or your farm house.

Pest Control Market:


Pest control market in Pakistan is growing very rapidly; new companies are entering in market
and making rush in market therefore the competition is high and some companies are even not
registered and working in market illegally, As they give lowest rates to customers and making
market as down which cannot be affordable for big pest control companies to serve and in that
rates companies cannot even cover their expenses.

Company Business Process:

Received queries from Clients/Customers through telephone or personal visits of


Marketing and sales department.
Communicate with clients to get their need/issue
Visit the area for examination pests
Write commercial proposal and quotation
If approved, then we make plan to send pest control technician for pest treatment.
After the plan we send technical supervisor with pest control technician to do the specific
job.
After job is done on standard of IPM (integrated pest management), supervisor take sign
of concern person of that building or area on performance certificate.
After job is done company administration issue IRS certificate to concern company.
Company takes feedback from that concern person after 2-3 days for satisfaction.
After this process company administration send documents to finance department for
receiving payment against service provided.
Accounts department keep in touch with concern companies/clients, and on specific date
which was decided on that date they send company representative to their client for
receiving of payment.
After receiving payment company finance department put that invoice copy in their
records and pay 16% of total amount to Govt. tax department named PRA.
After that the list of clients send to telemarketing department and after 2-3 months they
again keep in touch with all clients to received order again.

Marketing and Sale:


Marketing department serves as the umbrella function that manages advertising, promotions,
public relations and sales. Marketing functions include research and development, pricing,
distribution, customer service, sales and communications. In its narrowest form, a sales
department advises the marketing department based on its feedback with customers and focuses
on customer contact to drive sales. The marketing department tells the sales staff what to
emphasize and what sales tools are will use. By using these strategies company is managing their
sales and develops new clients.

Finance Department:
The accounting department is responsible for recording and reporting the cash flows, both in and
out, of a company. There are five basic roles or functions within the department:

Accounts receivable
Accounts payable
Payroll
Financial controls
Financial reporting
Taxation

Financial controls are an important part of every area of the accounting department; these will be
mentioned along with each function.
Cash Receipts & Accounts Receivable
The cash flow that comes into the company is known as cash receipts. Cash receipts are handled
by the accounts receivable department. This process involves receiving and recording the cash
payments from customers for services rendered or products sold. Accounts receivable is
responsible for ensuring the customer receives an invoice for the goods or services and that the
customer pays the balance due on that invoice.
Financial controls come into play once the cash receipts are received and recorded in the system,
and a deposit needs to be made. In order to maintain the best separation of duties possible and
prevent any opportunity for wrong doing, they have one person recording the cash and another
person making the deposit at the bank.

Human Resource Department:


Human resource department recruit new employees if company needs new employees for any
department, human resource department look after all the departments to analysis the work

performance and if performance is not on to the point they check where the issue is. They also
handle labor issues.

Operational Department:
They handle all work like chemical, daily work activities, quotation to clients; issue any
stationary, mobile Sims, machinery, applicators etc.

Plausible Problems:
During my Six weeks stay in (Nayab Pest Control Services) I found various problems, which I
think, so should be resolved for the better functioning of the NPCS. Some of these problems are
of such nature that their solution will help the NPCS and its workers in cooping in this complex
world of globalization.

PROBLEMS:
The problems are:
There is a lack of on-line information in the NPCS about the changes taking place in the
world of pest control and they must know about every type of pests and how to treat
them.
They are using some of chemicals to treat every type of insects.
If waking customer comes to office he/she cannot find any kind of journal or newspaper
there.
In early days of month there is a great rush of customers, as dengue issue is very famous
now a days they dont have enough labor force to handle all the clients in 1 days, they
give them time for next days by which some clients went to other pest control companies
through which company dont get much earning which can be possible.
Separate cabins are not available for the staff.
They have only 2 supervisors who check all the labor of 20. This is not enough.
Most of the time quotation sends to customers without review it and this create bad
impact on company.

RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation I Propose
I will give following suggestions for the better function of the NPCS:
1. The management should provide better arrangement for the employees.
2. The daily newspapers and journals should be provided to the employees and customers
visiting there.
3. The NPCS management should be very careful while creating the quotations and review
it 2 times before sending it to their customer.

4. Training session must be introduced for extra knowledge to every employee.


5. Aggressive publicity campaign must be introduced through press and Electronic media
for new products and scheme by initiating vigorous marketing policy.
6. New talent / professionals should be hired to coupe with the competitive demand in the
industry.
7. The financial statement should be made more transparent and reliable.
8. Employees induction promotion and transfer should always be made on merit.

9. To motivate the employees their remuneration / salaries should be made at par their best
performance.

Conclusion:
This internship has been an excellent and rewarding experience. I have been able to meet and
network with so many experienced people that I am sure will be able to help me with
opportunities in the future.
One main thing that I have learned through this internship is time management skills as well as
self-motivation. When I first started I did not think that I was going to be able to make myself sit
in an office for eight hours a day, five days a week. Once I realized what I had to do I organized
my day and work so that I was not overlapping or wasting my hours. I learned that I needed to
be organized and have questions ready for when it was the correct time to get feedback. From
this internship and time management I had to learn how to motivate myself through being in the
office for so many hours. I came up with various proposals and ideas that the company is still
looking into using.
I am going to continue to work for Nayab Pest Control Services although I am still keeping my
options open for new opportunities. I enjoy this line of work, but I am not sure if there is enough
room to grow through this company. I will continue to work hard in my position and hope to
continue to learn about the industry and meet new people. This was an excellent experience and I
hope that other interns got as much out of it as I did!
In this report I have mentioned main points where company is standing and how company is
working and what is the industry of pest control and growth of company. We have discussed
what the issues company is facing are and how we can handle it and cover these issues by other
strategies and giving recommendations.
