Sembawang Secondary School
Was the content easy to understand?

As a first touch point, the content is varied it helps create awareness without going into too much depth
Which of the topics stand out the most?

Online Predators, it sent out a very clear message to the students especially the videos.

Christ Church
On a scale of 1 to 5, rate the speakers.

I will rate them 5. They handle the situation well when the screen was down and they continue to speak on stage and
engage the students, they are very cool and calm.

Northbrooks Secondary School

Was the content easy to understand?

Yes, The slides had a lot of pictures and the information were accompanied with a lot of examples.

Testimonies from teachers

Naval Base Secondary School
Which of the topics stand out the most?

Online predators. As nowadays this is a very scary issue for us as we dont know who is behind the screen and our students
are very susceptible and unquestionable.

Woodlands Secondary School

Which of the topics stand out the most?

Cyber-bullying. Because it is one of the areas of concern and we really want to highlight this especially for the lower
secondary students.
On a scale of 1 to 5, rate the speakers.

5. Speakers are quite good as this is the first time I have seen my Secondary Ones so engaged.
Format was also good as the question and answer in between the presentation allows the kids to look forward to
something and keeps them engaged.

Quotes from students

Woodlands
(Sec 4) :

Content was easy to understand, could explore more on the dangers.

Digestible: as it is relatable to us, constantly reminds us of the dangers of the internet. The quiz acts as breaks in
between for us to think and remember.
Cyberbullying and Online predators stood out the most as they were relevant.
Suicide case-study was more relevant as it is around our age.

Northbrooks
(Sec 4):

Gaming addiction stood out the most to me

The shocking content one was the one on spy, many people dont see the consequences of spy malwares.
The content was easy to understand, it was basic and spread awareness
The content was very relevant

Christ Church
(Sec 3):

Content is easy to understand as it is relatable in our generation

Should have more case studies that happens in Singapore.
The video part on pedophile stood out the most as most of the girls now post their private life on their social
media.

Christ Church
(Sec 4):

Content is easy to understand as it was well said and explained in detailed by the speakers
Most the content is relevant for the students but some of the content is just for our general knowledge that we
already know since young.
Explain more on the case studies.
Internet addiction stood out the most to me as most of us used the internet on a daily basis now.

Quotes from students

Naval Base
(Sec 1)

Content is easy to understand as teenagers like us face this kind of problem and we can
understand and do something about it as there are tips for us.
It is very relevant as I am a student.
Try to give more tips as some of the tips are already known or used. (parents have given similar
tips. Need new ones)
Online Addiction stood out, as I am actually addicted to online gaming and i am part of the topic.

Naval Base

Easy to understand as language used was common and it was not complicated. Information was
understandable and useful
As this is a secondary and there are teenagers, we have our own phones, we go online a lot, have
our own social media accounts so it is relevant as we use them alot.
Maybe they can explain in depth on how we can help our friends or others that need help in
problems such as hacking so that they dont go deeper by attempting suicide and all that and we
want to be mentally and physically be there for them.
Online privacy stood out. As there are a lot of people online from around the world, we need to keep
our own privacy and for our own safety, we dont want our parents to worry about us and we are still
young and we do not know much about what other people can do. From the examples given many
people also do not know what is happening to them also.

(Sec 2)

COMMENTS
Speakers are good, its just the students that are not participative.
More activities to engage the audience.
Case studies should be explained in a more detailed manner as its the most essential part of
the talk as it talks about the consequences part.

INSIGHTS
The first school that the talk was held at was not as participative as compared to the rest of
the schools.
Speakers managed to entertain and engage both the teacher and student audiences.
Speakers managed crowd control really well
Time management for the talks could be better as there were 3 schools that skept activities
and quizzes.

KEY LEARNINGS
1) Need to think of solutions on the spot / Overcoming
challenges as they come

The challenges that we faced along the way were unpredictable

and spontaneous, and everyone on the team had to learn to be
quick on their feet and think of solutions on the spot as they face
them. These challenges include equipment failures, late start to
the assembly program, games not proceeding as intended and
so on and so forth.
It reminded us that there is always a need to be alert and to
never believe that everything will go as planned, as it most likely
will not.

While many of us panicked initially when faced with problems, I

feel that at the end of it all, we have also been groomed into
individuals that can remain unfazed in the face of problems and
solve them calmly.

2) Brevity is Key
When we first started creating the content slides that will be
used in the talks, we had a lot of content that we thought were
relevant, and we wanted to convey those points to the
secondary school students. However, after a few test runs, we
realized that it was impossible to be able to convey everything
that we wanted to, and we had to remove and select the most
interesting points that we wanted to get across to the
audience.
Not only that, we also realized that there was no use in using a
lot of words in our slides. The secondary school audiences
were evidently much more engaged and interested when there
were visuals, videos and games. We then realized that we
should break down some of our content into much simpler
formats such as visuals so as to make us much more effective
at relaying the same message to the students.

CONCLUSION
Was the talk a success?
Yes. Overall, the talk was a success. Based on the observations we collated from the various participating schools,
students were participative and engaged especially during the activity time. Also, based on the interview from the
students and teachers, they rated for the overall engagement talk. Speakers conducted the talk in an interactive
manner and the quiz/ activity time helped raise the level of excitement within students to participate in them.
Majority of the social media posts has reached over 1000 videos. Despite the total number of likes, there were little or no
interaction over the posts as no comment were made through Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
