***Here are some examples of previously mentioned F keys.
F5 makes a Frame
F5 creates a frame which _ _______ a Keyframe. By doing this you make an image show _________.

4
The frame below is worth 11 frames long. You can _________ the image in this frame and it will be the
same image for as long as the frame lasts.

To use this you can press _ _____ on the initial frame or click where you want the frame to end and
press F5. It will continue up to where you clicked the timeline.

F6 makes a Keyframe
The first frame has an image on it. When you press F6 the timeline will _____ ___ that frame and put it

F7 makes a Blank Keyframe
On the first frame below there is an image, when you press F7 it will _____ _____ that image with a
blank keyframe.

ONION SKINS
Onion skins in flash are basically used as ____________ which allows you to see the last frame you
drew. You will need this in order to ____ ____ your previous frame for when you draw your next frame.
This will let you make your animation look smoother and more accurate.
The onion skins are located ____

____ the timeline to the ____ ____ of the bin icon as shown

below

See the one closest to the left? Thats the one I recommend you use.

Now we need to tell the onion skins which frame we want to see ________ on our current frame. To do
this, hold and _________ the 2 different circles you can see on the timeline frame counter as the image
shows below.

_______ shows the frames on your flash which are ________ the current frame (which is shown red).
_______ shows the frames ________ the current frame.

[Follow the instructions and test it out in your animation.]
When doing a simple animation we only need to see what the previous frame was, so we can draw it
again on the new frame. We want our onion skins to show the previous frame only so we drag the

circles to show only the last frame before the current frame. Make it look like the image below.

As you will see on your movie, the last frame appears and none of the others do.
After some practice with onion skins your animations will look less nooby and more smooth. Have fun!

LAYERS
Layers make animations much more

and a lot easier to do. If you have 1 layer in an

animation you will no doubt draw on the background and totally RUIN it. Layers are basically what goes
______

__ and ___ ____ __ things in your animation.

In this tutotial I have used just two layers, as the image shows below.

Adobe Flash Lessons Notes

As you can see I have one layer for the background and a layer above it for the text and images.
To add a layer to your movie you right-click and choose ___________. To name the layer
____________ its existing name and type a new one, like background, objects or animation.
To lock a layer, click the __________ under the padlock column. If I ever wanted to lock the background

layer here I would click A.

After clicking A the layer would be locked like so.

Swapping layers around is easy. __________ and __________ the layer you want to move. When
moving layers consider what exists on its frames! If I swapped my background layer with the text and
images layer the whole movie would be a bunch of floating boxes, because the background layer would
cover up the text and images layer.
These sections are the main things used in Adobe Flash. Make sure to explore all these tools and
incorporate them in your future projects.
***Thats it! Keep these notes and reference them
throughout the year whenever you have to a problem
so I dont have to help you hahaha!

Okay, you can still ask for help but be sure to check this first! (= u =)
