Program. New expectations for this years Summer Academic Program at the Elementary & Middle School
level.

We will use the provided summer school curriculum for reading and math. This curriculum has been
updated to comply with new district requirements for our summer programs. Changes/updates:
o Making certain the material is tied to current standards at grade level;
o Acts as a bridge between grade levels, preparing students for the following year;
o Provides opportunity to collect assessment data throughout the four-week period.

Administration will observe classrooms for the purpose of collecting programmatic data regarding the
curriculum. We will look for specific feedback from teachers.

We will look for engagement strategies that we use during the regular school year in our classrooms, such
as NUA, AVID, and responsive classroom approaches. T
his applies to ALL programs.

Teacher/Staff Expectations
Some of these expectations are new to the summer program classroom; however, we are dedicated to bringing
the same rigor and focus on engagement strategies of the regular school year to the summer program
classrooms. As always, we strive to instill in our students the desire to learn and desire to come to our schools.
This is an important facet to our Excellence for All vision.
