Last week we looked at the two prominent characters, Joseph and Judah, and
how they played the main parts in the story of redemption. The functions of the
Birthright were split between these two brothers; one received the role of the
father, carrying the Seed of Messiah (Judah) and the other received the role of
the Priest (Joseph through Ephraim), carrying the other part of the Birthright that
will ensure the spiritual growing and maintaining of the household, together they
are one, and at the end they will be reunited into one stick to present the
complete Birthright again.

Overview of Josephs Life

The story of Josephs life is the longest
continues narrative than any other narrative
found in the Torah. The other topic that is
similar to this that takes up most pages in the
Torah, is the describing and construction of
the Tabernacle. These similarities connect
these two topics, and it is as if YHVH wants
us to study both topics thoroughly. The first
topic, Josephs life, is about Salvation. It is a
picture of Messiah and the work He will come
and do as the Anointed Priest (Massiach). The other topic, the Tabernacle, is
about establishing YHVHs Presence among His people, the topic that relates to
the second work of Messiah, Who will come to rebuild Jerusalem and establish
the Temple or dwelling place of YHVH on the earth, known as the New
Jerusalem. These two subjects describe the themes for the First Coming and
Second Coming of Messiah, the first set and second set of Festivals that will be
fulfilled by Messiah here on earth.

What stands out in the narrative of Josephs life, is the

number of dreams he was connected to and they all came in
pairs.

Firstly, Joseph dreamed about his future of him

becoming a great leader.
Then we read about the dreams of the Cupbearer and
the Baker, each having a dream the same night.
Lastly, Pharaoh had two dreams giving the same
message of a famine that is coming.

Dream is the word "chalom" ,vlx that means to dream. It is first found in
Scripture in Gen 20:3 where Elohim spoke to Abimelech (My Father is King) in a
dream regarding the bride he took (Sarah, Abrahams wife). This story is related
to the Anointed Priest who (unintentionally) sinned and had to bring a sin
offering because of the sins of the people (Lev 4:3 - where the word massiach
is first found).
Spiritual Insight: This implies that Messiah is a Prophet, Whos Father is the
King, and His Father speaks to Him through dreams and visions. That is why
Yshua said that He only does what He see His Father is doing (John 5:19).
We also find the verse in Numb 12:6 where YHVH revealed that a Prophet
would revive visions and dreams and these are the basis of prophecy. This
means that a prophecy is usually a picture you receive and when you
describe what you saw, that becomes the prophetic words. This is a similar
concept found in Scripture when we find the place a word is first used, to get
its proper meaning, the passage is in the form of a story or picture that
clarifies the meaning very clearly, that even a child can understand it.
Dream (chalom) comes from the root word chalam that means dreamed. The
first place this word is found is in Gen 228:12 where Jacob dreamed. All the
other verses states that someone dreamed a dream, it was only Joseph that
dreamed a ladder.
Q What does it mean to dream a ladder?
Spiritual Insight: To dream a dream is to see a picture or video playing off
in your mind. Dreaming a ladder is associated with the root word for ladder
(sulam) that is salal that means to extol, to rise up, to elevate. All the verses
referencing this word are in a negative context where people lifted
themselves up against YHVH. It is only Psa 68 that says that we should extol
YHVH, the One riding the heavens. In Jacobs case, he was exalted towards
the heaven where YHVH is and that is the symbolism of the ladder. Dreaming
indicates the connection with the spiritual, and the ladder, reveals that Jacob
actually went up to YHVH, and not just dreaming a dream, seeing a picture,
but dreaming a ladder, being exalted to a higher dimension. We find similar
examples of this in 2 Cor 12:2, where a man was caught up to the third
heaven, and Heb 11:5, where it describes Enoch who was taken up to
heaven. Then John, who wrote Revelation, was taken up in the spirit, having
a similar experience.
In Josephs case, he only dreamed a dream, seeing a vision of the Plan YHVH
has for his life, and revealing the description of what He saw became the
prophecy YHVH released over his life.
www.hasophim.com

We saw in last weeks Portion that the first dream he had (sheaves in the field),
represented his physical reign and the second dream (sun, moon, stars),
revealed his the spiritual reign and authority he will have.
Then we read about the pair of dreams, the dream of the
Cupbearer and the dream of the Baker; both had their
dreams the same night. Both were cast in prison for offending
the King, and they told their dreams to Joseph. Joseph
interpreted the Cupbearers dream and said that he will be
restored back into the presence of Pharaoh within 3 days. The
Baker had a different interpretation, and Joseph revealed that
he would be hanged on a tree after 3 days.
Q What do these dreams mean?
Prophetic Application: Looking at these two dreams you have the wine and
you have the bread and the person with the wine is restored, back to serving
the king, but the baker is executed, both within three days. To explain this
better, we have to fast forward to Exodus and look at the symbolism when the
first Passover, to understand these dreams. The wine represents the blood
that was painted on the doorpost of every house so that YHVH could see so
that the people in the house could live or be saved. This is confirmed with the
Cupbearer that was restored in order to present wine to Pharaoh (present
blood to YHVH). Last week we learned from Josephs name

SQEI, that the

SQ

last part of his name,

, saph, tall as well as basin specifically the
basin that held the blood of the Passover lamb. It also means cup, that is
generally used for holding wine.
The Passover lamb was to be taken into the home, and each believer had to
eat from it before thy left Egypt. None of the lamb was to be left, and
everything had to be consumed. The bread of the Baker is related to the
lamb, that represents the Body Of Messiah that was broken for us. On the
night prior to Yshuas execution, He said, take this bread, it is my body
broken for you. The Baker was hung on a tree the same way Yshua was
executed, being hung on a tree as well. Yshua shed His blood, symbolised
by the wine, and He died on a tree, fulfilling the two dreams as well as the
Passover symbolism.
The Blood was outside the house for YHVH to see but the lamb was
brought inside the house where the family had clear instructions on
how to prepare and to eat it. The blood was not for them, but the
lamb was. Isnt it interesting on how we are taught the opposite
where we thought the blood was for us. The blood is for YHVH to
look upon in order to allow death to pass-us-over. The body of the lamb was to
be eaten to give them strength so that they can leave Egypt (sin and bondage).
The lamb / bread symbolises the Word of YHVH that will give you the
strength to overcome sin and bondage in your life. His Word is the Truth,
and the Truth will set you free (John 8:32). His Blood lets you pass from
death into life, and the Bread (His Word) brings you from slavery into
freedom, obeying His Word brings freedom.

www.hasophim.com

There are many Believers in Messiah today, who passed from death to life,
covered by the blood, but they refuse to eat the lamb or Word of YHVH and
are still inside their homes, trapped in Egypt, being slaves under Pharaoh
(Satan).
Then Pharaoh had two dreams after Joseph had spent two
years in prison. Nobody could interpret Pharaohs dreams,
and the Cupbearer remembered Joseph. He told Pharaoh
about Joseph, and he was brought out of prison to address
king Pharaoh. Whenever you read or hear about a dream,
remember it is a code word for something spiritual.
Josephs gift was to reveal the spiritual and the invisible,
into the physical and visual. This is the same with Yshua
Who is the Word, He was spiritual and invisible to man, then
He revealed Himself, becoming physical and visible. It was
as if Pharaoh encountered Yshua personally through the
dream and the presence of Joseph.
Joseph interpreted Pharaohs dreams, and Pharaoh recognised that Joseph had
the Spirit of YHVH within him that gave him the power to understand, as well as
the wisdom to apply the information he received from YHVH through the
dreams. This led to Josephs appointed as second in charge of the kingdom in
one day.
Gen 41:40 You shall be over my house, and according unto your
word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be
greater than you.
Q - Pharaoh still outrank Joseph, who is a picture of Messiah, Who is outranking
Messiah?
If Joseph is a picture of Messiah and in this event, Pharaoh represents the King
Who is the Father. Yshua is the Head or Ruler over the House of the Father,
Who is still the ultimate authority, Yshua does not replace Him. I have seen in
many believers lives that they only pray to Jesus (Yshua) and not to the Father,
giving Him authority over the Father and not recognising that Yshua is the Way
Who leads you to the Father.
The other issue that exists today is where believers elevate themselves to the
status of Pharaoh and are still sitting on the thrones of their lives, and Yshua
has to run their house and serve them, where they treat Him as a Gene in a
bottle. If this is the case, then we substitute Joseph with Yshua and Pharaoh
with yourself the verse will read as follows:
Gen 41:40 Yshua, You (Yshua) shall be over my house, and according
unto Your Word shall all my family be ruled: only in the throne (my life)
will I be greater than You.
Spiritual Insight: You have probably heard the story where your life
that is like a car and you should give Yshua the wheel so that He can
drive and you sit in the passenger seat. Yshua will never take the
wheel or take control of your life. It is the other way round; He is in the
passenger seat navigating, reading you the map and giving you
directions while you drive. You sit behind the steering wheel, on the
throne of your life and drive the car.
www.hasophim.com

The throne is always thought of a place of authority, but it is actually a place

of decision. One of the fruits of the Sprit is self-control, meaning that you are
in control and you have to make all the decisions. This is how we become like
Him, making decisions He would have made in a particular situation.
Example - The Holy Spirit told me One extreme example
of you being a puppet in the passenger seat is when people
think that the Holy Spirit is to make all their decisions for
them. Some people cannot even decide which socks to put on
if they havent received a word from the Holy Spirit. f your
life is like this; then you can tear out the Book of Proverbs that
contains all the wisdom we need to live life and make
decisions. It is only babies and little children that need
constant input and direction because they do not have the
maturity to make the right choices yet. The Holy Spirit is a
very active and real part of someones life when they have
just accepted to follow YHVH, but He will step back and watch from a distance,
as you grow up and become a mature believer in Messiah, making the right
choices because of your changed nature and trained mind.

Josephs Appointment
Gen 41:42 Then Pharaoh took his signet ring off his hand and put it on
Josephs hand; and he clothed him in garments of fine linen and put a gold
chain around his neck. 43 And he had him ride in the second chariot which he
had; and they cried out before him, Bow the knee!
There is something interesting regarding the appointment of Joseph; Pharaoh
put his ring on Josephs hand, this means that Joseph never touched Potiphars
wife. He dressed him fine linen because Joseph never uncovered Potiphars
wife. He gave Joseph a gold chain to put around his neck because Joseph
never turned his gaze at Potiphars wife.
After Joseph was appointed as the second in charge of
the Kingdom, they made him ride in a chariot and
shouted bow the knee! This is the word avrech

;rba aleph-bet-resh-kaf. This is an interesting word

when you divide this word into smaller parts and look at
each meaning. The first two ba aleph-bet is av that
means fruit and father. The second and the third letters

rb bet-resh makes the word bar that means son.

The last two letters ;r resh-kaf makes the word
rech that is the root word for the word rechem that

means mercy and womb. The first three letters rba

aleph-bet-resh it makes the word avar that means, feather, to soar and
mighty one. The last 3 letters,rb bet-resh-kaf, is the word barak, that
means, blessed and to kneel.

www.hasophim.com

This word avrech contains six spiritual insights about the Messiah, Who is
represented by Joseph, Who is appointed to rule the Kingdom and provide
salvation to the nations, as seen in Josephs life story.
1. Father & Fruit ba Av. Joseph is a picture of Messiah and is
appointed as second in charge; this means that His Father is above Him.
Av means father as well as offspring or fruit, and Yshua comes from the
Father and we come from Yshua, being His offspring and He becoming
our originator or our father as revealed in Isa 9:6, where it calls
Messiah; Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Eternal Father and Prince
of Peace. John 14:8 says that if you have seen Yshua, you saw the
Father because He and His Father is Echad or One.
2. Son rb Bar. This is where it reveals the Messiah as the Son of the
Father. This is found in YHVHs great promise to David: "I will set up thy
seed after thee, . . . I will be his Father, and he shall be my Son. . . . thy
throne shall be established forever" (2 Samuel 7:12, 14, 16). We find the
same notion in Pro 30:4 that Messiah is the Son of YHVH, together with
His Father, created the earth; "Who has established all the ends of the
earth? what is His Name, and what is his Son's Name, if you can tell?"
The meaning of the two letters, bet-resh, explains a bit more of Who the
Son is, and what His function is. Bet b means house, and Resh r
means Head or Leader. Yshua is appointed over the House of the
Father and He is the Head or leader of the Body of Messiah as revealed
in Col 1:18.
3. Mercy - ;r Rech means tender hearted and soft, compassion, pity
and womb. Joseph represents Messiah Who is appointed to extend
YHVHs mercy to humanity. Rech means womb as well, that is a
feminine function of Messiah, Who functions in the role similar to a
mother, who extends mercy and grace towards her children. This word
is first found in Gen 43:4 where Israel (Jacob) spoke protection and
mercy over Benyamin in the eyes of the Egyptian leader (Joseph), when
he was sent to Egypt with his brothers. From this story we see that the
Messiah is in disguise, hiding behind the thing we fear, ready to extend
mercy and compassion to His people. He is always one step ahead and
we do not have to fear any bad situation we face.
4. Mighty One rba Avar This word is found in a future Torah
Portion where Joseph was blessed by Israel (Jacob) in Gen 49:24, where
he said that Josephs hands would be made strong by the hands of the
mighty One of Jacob. He will be the shepherd, and the stone and
Messiah will be a Shepherd and the Stone (Rock of our salvation). This is
a future prophecy of the scattered tribe of Joseph, who will be like a wild
branch, growing over the wall to reach out to the nations and to shepherd
them into the Kingdom with the message of Messiah, the Stone or Rock
of our Salvation (Yshua). This is one of the primary purposes of the
Anointed One, to anoint His people so that they can function in the role of
the Shepherd, becoming little shepherds, bringing people into the
Kingdom. Avar consists of the combination of the two words Av
(Father) and Bar (Son). Avar also means feather, that relates to the
wings that is found in Ps 91, where His people sit under the wings of the
www.hasophim.com

Almighty, in the shadow of His protection. Yshua is described here as the

Almighty or Mighty One. The Feather is also linked to His Torah, His
Word, Who is Messiah, Who covers and protects us.
5. Bless ;rb Barak means to bless, to kneel down, and is an act of
submission. This word is first found in Scripture in Gen 1:22 where
Elohim blessed the fish and the birds, telling them to multiply, on the 5th
day. These were the first things Elohim blessed, thereafter he made the
animals as well as man and blessed them. He also gave man dominion
over all the living things, the fish, birds and animals, and they were lesser
than man, in a way submitting to man or Adam. What we learn from this
is the thing or one who is blessed last, is the thing or one who have
authority over all the things that were blessed previously. How does this
relate to Joseph representing Messiah? Messiah is the second Adam, the
One Who came after the first Adam, Who has dominion over every living
thing that is blessed prior to Him. This includes all living things,
everything that contains blood, and all these things must submit or kneel
down (barak) to Him because He created and blessed (barak) them. This
indicates Messiahs authority over His creation and all living things,
including man.
6. To kneel ;rba Avrech We saw from all the previous meanings
that Messiah has masculine attributes portrayed in the role as a Father.
He is the Son of YHVH the King, and His throne shall be established and
last forever. The Messiah also has female attributes, functioning in the
role similar to a nurturing, caring mother, having compassion for His
offspring of children. Then we unveiled Messiah as the Mighty One Who
is the Shepherd and the Rock, Who will extend these roles through His
followers through His anointing, to bring the nations into the Kingdom.
Avrech is used as a command, telling people to bow the knee, implying
that everyone must bow their knee to Messiah. In the next verse,
Pharaoh said that no man would be able to do lift up his hand of foot, do
anything or go anywhere without the permission and go ahead of Joseph.
This shows that the Father gave total authority and dominion of the
Kingdom over to Messiah. This emphasises the authority of Messiah, and
that is why it is stated in Phl 2:10-11 that at the name of Yshua every
knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every
tongue confess that Yshua the Messiah is Lord (Adon), to the glory of
God the Father

Joseph looked like and spoke like an Egyptian.

They gave Joseph a new name and called him
Zaphenath-paneah, and gave him a Gentile Bride,
named Asenath, that means 'gift of the sun' or 'gift of
the sun-god'.
Q What does Zaphenath-paneah mean?
The meaning of this Egyptian name remains unclear,
and the certainty of its meaning has eluded scholars
since the time of the Septuagint and rabbinic
tradition.
www.hasophim.com

Some think it is an Egyptian name that means, revealer of secrets. Others

suggest that it is a Hebrew transcription of an Egyptian name that means, the
god speaks and he lives. Professor Kenneth Kitchen, points out that
Zaphenath-paneah was originally Zat-en-aph, for in ancient Egyptian was
pronounced Djed(u)en-ef, meaning he who is called. The second part of the
name, Paneah, may be derived from the Egyptian word, aneah or anakh,
that means is alive. This concludes that Zaphenath paaneah means, he
who is called anakh, or He that is called - is alive.
Prophetic Application: Joseph was the one who was called by YHVH to fulfil
a certain purpose and he was thought to be dead but was found alive after he
revealed himself to his brothers. In other words, his death brought them
salvation because of the calling that was on his life. In the same way is
Messiah the One Who is called with a particular purpose, He will be cut off
(Dan 9:26), but through His death will bring salvation to His people and the
world.
Q - Have you ever thought of what the deeper meaning behind Joseph
becoming an Egyptian could mean?
We all know that Yshua was a Hebrew and came from the tribe of Judah that
made Him a Jew. Joseph was a Hebrew but was sold as a slave and became
an Egyptian.
Q Did Yshua follow the same pattern and became an Egyptian with the
name Jesus?
We found Yshua in the Church with a Greek name we see the same with
Joseph, his brothers found him in Egypt with an Egyptian name.
Q - Does this mean that the name Jesus is pagan as some belief?
No, the name Jesus is similar to the Egyptian name Joseph received in Egypt
and was connected to his location and function he fulfilled, within the culture, he
was to influence and work through. Josephs Egyptian name means the one
who is called is alive, and that name had a meaning that related to his
purpose within Egypt. The name Jesus has a similar connotation. YHVH sent
Joseph, a Hebrew to become an Egyptian so that he could save the world.
YHVH sent Yshua to become Greek which was the dominant culture of that
time, that formed our modern western cultures. Yshua adopted western
appearance within a western culture in order to reach those outside of Israel.
This does not mean that Jesus is a pagan god Who abolished the Torah or His
Hebrew culture. Just like in the story of Joseph, will Jesus take back His Hebrew
Name Yshua to connect with His brothers (Judah Jews), so that they, through
Him, can receive salvation as well.
We as followers of Jesus/Yshua should not try to serve
YHVH in Egypt, as the Scripture reveals, Joseph and His
family (their descendants) left Egypt and went to Sinai
where they received the Commandments and the Torah
from YHVH. The Word of YHVH is the water they received
at Sinai to wash off the Egyptian makeup, unlearning the
Egyptian ways in order to embrace YHVHs culture, the
Hebrew Culture as revealed to us through our father
Abraham who became the first Hebrew.
www.hasophim.com

We live in the time where many Christians discover their Hebrew roots and start
to wash off their Egyptian ways, removing their Egyptian clothing, embracing
YHVHs Word and His Culture. This is what Paul meant by washing with the
water of the Word so that we can wash off our old ways and customs we
adopted from our fathers, coming out of a Western-Greek culture, crossing
over to become Hebrews just like our father, Abraham.

Joseph's Family in Egypt

Gen 41:50-52 And to Joseph were born two sons before the years of
famine came, whom Asenath, the daughter of Poti-Pherah priest of On,
bore to him. 51 Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh For
Elohim has made me forget all my toil and all my fathers house. 52 And
the name of the second he called Ephraim For Elohim has caused me to
be fruitful in the land of my affliction.
Asenath (gift of the sun) was the daughter of Poti-Pherah,
the priest of On. Poti-Pherah means he whom the Ra
(God) gave It consists of two words, poti and pherah.
Poti yuvp in Hebrew means to disparage, belittle, mock,
contempt, scorn, dislike. Pherah irp in Hebrew means,
to loosen; to expose, uncover, dismiss; avenge, avoid, go
back, (make) naked, set at nought, perish, refuse. On ]va
means strength or vigour.

Hebrew Study Tip

When analysing a
person, you can use
names of related
people, like their
mother, father or even
their wife or wifes
parents, to give insight
into that persons life at
that stage. In Josephs
case, we are going to
look at his wife and her
father, to gain insight
into his life in Egypt.

Prophetic Insight: With the knowledge of Joseph

depicting Messiah, we can see from these meanings,
from the people he is connected to in Egypt, what he is
going to face. He will be belittled, mocked and scoffed
(meanings of Poti). His nakedness will be uncovered;
he will be made to nought and perish (will be killed), he
will loosen things and then go back (meanings of Pharah) because of
strength and vigour (meaning of On). All these definitions point to a future
person who is portrayed by Joseph, who was sent to Egypt (the world). These
things are associated with the future Messiah Who we know as Yshua, and
all these meanings connected to Joseph marrying a gentile bride, are true
as revealed and fulfilled by Messiahs first coming.

The Four Tests

Ch 42:7-8 Joseph saw his brothers, but he acted
like a stranger to them and spoke harshly. He
recognised them, but they did not recognise him.
He later threw some of them in jail, what is going
on? Why is he doing this?
These are the four tests he gave his brothers,
testing them to see if they relay repented from
their old ways. The tests are as follows:

www.hasophim.com

10

1. The Prison - He threw his ten brothers in prison for 3 days, accusing
them for being spies (verse 21). In prison the brothers talked amongst
one another and admitted their guilt for what they have done to Joseph.
This first test was to see if they had any regrets about what they have
done. Casting them in jail, putting them in a difficult situation, brought
them to a place of repentance. This is the first step that led to their
salvation. Learning: YHVH allows you to go through difficult times so that
you can be confronted with your past that will lead to repentance. How
many people came to faith because they had no more hope and could
not face another day?
2. The Silver Cup - They were ready to leave Egypt
after they bought food when Joseph ordered to load
their bags and place his silver cup in Benjamins bag.
Why was Benjamins bag chosen? Benjamin and
Joseph had the same mother, Rachael, Jacobs
beloved wife. When Jacob left Laban, she took Lots
household gods and hid them in her saddlebag. They
were accused of stealing Josephs cup for occult
purposes. See the connection? The brothers defended themselves and
said the one with the cup in will be his slave forever. When they found it
in Benjamins bag, they could have said that Benjamin is just like his
mother, stealing occult objects. They grieved and was willing to share his
guilt, passing the test. Learning: Are you willing to stand with a fellow
believer or are you someone who will expose your brother in order to be
saved? In the last days, many believers will turn against one another and
hand each other over in order to be saved from persecution.
3. The hostage Simeon was taken hostage while they went back to get
Benyamin to present him before Joseph. Joseph wanted to see how they
will treat Benyamin and if he will be treated the same as they treated him
because their father favoured Benyamin. Why was Simeon chosen as a
hostage and not Reuben? There are two reasons; firstly, Joseph desired
to punish Simeon for having thrown him into the pit; and secondly, he
wished to separate Simeon from Levi, lest they together might destroy
Egypt, the same way they killed the men of Shechem, after Dinah was
raped. Learning: The older brothers volunteered to be kept as hostages
in place of Benyamin because of their father Jacob, who will not survive
losing another son. We sometimes have to see the bigger picture, not
focusing on our limited understanding and what we think should happen.
Our Fathers will is more important as your will because you are His
instrument to be used in relation to the bigger picture, expanding His
Kingdom, not yours.
4. The Table When Joseph saw Benjamin, he invited them for a meal and
set them at the table, each one according to when they were born.
Benjamin, the youngest, received a portion that was five times greater
than the rest of them. Still, they did not realise that Joseph was their
brother. The test was to see if they would be jealous of Benjamin who
received a greater portion. It was this jealousy that caused them to cast
Joseph into the pit and sold him as a slave. None of them said anything,
and they all passed the test.

Learning: This event relates to the parable of the talents, some will
receive more than others, and this can be in relation to money, talents,
anointing and truth. We as believers in Messiah should not be jealous of
one another and understand that each one of us has a different purpose,
some receiving a greater responsibility, receiving more significant portion.
Remember, the more you receive, the greater your responsibility.
Q What can we learn from these four tests?
Prophetic Application: These four tests are designed to do work within
each person so that the relationships may be completely restored. Joseph
representing the Christians, are like Egyptians, living in Egypt (Western
culture) and their Jewish brothers, represented by Josephs Hebrew
brothers, will have a culture clash. We learn from these tests that the
outcome is the restoration and reuniting of the brothers and this coincide
with the prophecy of the Two Sticks, Ephraim (son of Joseph) and Judah
(Eze 37) who will come together, but only after passing these four tests,
The Messiah will be revealed.
The last test, the table, connects to the table that is
set to reveal the Massiach ben Yoseph, is the future
Passover table, that will reveal Messiah to His
brothers. All the symbolism is connecting to the Lamb
of YHVH that was prophetically represented by the
ram who died in place of Isaac, as well as the
prophetic picture of Abraham, the father, offering up
his son, Isaac. It was the fulfilment of Passover by
the execution of Yshua that reveals Yshua as the Messiah at the
Passover Table.

7 Years Prosperity 7 Years Famine

Pharaoh had two dreams, he first dreamt about seven fat
cows and then seven skinny cows and the lean cows
devoured the fat cows. Then he had a similar dream,
dreaming of seven This happened right before 7 years of
plenty and then 7 years of famine. During the 7 years of
famine Josephs brothers came to him what does this
mean prophetically. The overall period according to
Josephs interpretation of Pharaohs dream was two 7 year
periods. One 7-year period of prosperity and one 7-year
period of the famine or tribulation.
Dan 9:27"And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week,
but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain
offering; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes
desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out
on the one who makes desolate."
Reading from verse 27, we learn about the Covenant made with many,
implying the nations, which relates to the second work of Messiah. (Read p9 of
Parashah 6 Toldot for detail). This is in line with the story of Joseph, who were
sent to Egypt, to become the saviour of the world (surrounding nations).

This, prophetically, has to do with the nations coming into the Kingdom through
the work of Messiah, as depicted by Josephs life. This salvation work or
gathering of the nations will be completed in the last week or seven-year
period, as part of the second work of Messiah. In the midst of this week (7-year
period), the sacrifices will be stopped and on the wing of the abominations will
the one come which makes desolate, connecting to the image known as the
Abomination of Desolation, revealed in Matt 24. The midst of this week starts
3,5 years into this 7-year period, and these two signs, the sacrifices and the
image, will signal the starting of the time known as the Great Tribulation as
revealed by Yshua in Matthew 24.
Gen 41:56-57 The famine was over all the face of the earth, and Joseph
opened all the storehouses and sold to the Egyptians. And the famine
became severe in the land of Egypt. 57 So all countries came to Joseph in
Egypt to buy grain, because the famine was severe in all lands.
This famine was severe and all across the world and all nations came to buy
food from Joseph. There are two meanings to this prophetic picture. The one is
where Joseph, depicting Messiah and His first coming, gave grain to all the
people of the earth, being a blessing to all the people of the world. This fulfils the
promise of Messiah, the Seed (Messiah), Who came through Abraham, and
where YHVH missed that through him, all the people of the world will be
blessed.
Gen 47:18-19 There is nothing left in the sight of my lord but our bodies
and our lands. 19 Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our
land? Buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be
servants of Pharaoh; give us seed, that we may live and not die, that the
land may not be desolate.
The second prophetic meaning is found in next weeks portion in Gen 47 where
the famine in the world and the seed that is available in Egypt have a different
meaning, relating to the end times and the second coming of Messiah. In this
picture, Pharaoh represents the Serpent and Joseph represents the AntiMessiah, where people will come to Egypt (the System) to buy food, becoming
slaves of Pharaoh, selling their souls (lands).
Picture the future event where the reign of the AntiMessiah starts and the world is upside-down, facing
all sorts of circuses and disasters, as mentioned in
the Book of Revelation. This is the time a leader will
stand up and rule the world, giving them hope but in
exchange for their souls.
Rev 13:4-17 And he deceives those who
dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight
of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the
beast who was wounded by the sword and lived. 15 He was
granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of
the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the
image of the beast to be killed. 16 He causes all, both small and great, rich
and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their
foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark
or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Rev 14:9 Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If
anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his
forehead or on his hand, 10 he himself shall also drink of the wine of the
wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His
indignation.
Warning: It is not good to be in the system when
the reign of the Antichrist begins and where the
beast system is set up with the image. That is why
Yshua said to flee to the mountains, leave the
system so that you will not be tempted to go and
buy seed in exchange for your soul. Remember, the famine will be over the
whole world, not just in Israel. If you are in the system, then you will be
tempted to receive food that will be handed out, but it will come at a very high
price, the payment is receiving the mark of the beast and losing your soul
forever. For more detail on this topic, read the study on Chanukah we
discussed last week.
