Course Objectives:
The main objective of this course is:
1. To understand the Fundamentals of the theory of elasticity principles.
2. To understand the various techniques available to measure the stress and strains using
different sources.
3. Make the students better understanding two dimensional and three dimensional principles
of photo elasticity concepts.
4. Knowing stress measuring techniques by using different methods are highlighted.
Course Outcomes:
At the end of course the students will be able to:
(CO 1) Explain overall concepts of stress/strain analysis by experimental means, Principles of
frequency recording instruments (L2)
(CO 2) Discuss the theory and practice of common experimental stress analysis methods
including moire methods, photo elasticity etc (L2)
(CO 3) Describe Brittle and bi-refrigent coatings and working of strain gauges. (L1)
(CO 4) Evaluate the stress and strain by moir techniques (L4)
