Band Planning for Fall 2017

There are several options to choose courses that fit within the ZBTHS Graduation requirements and participate in band and other electives. Prior
planning is recommended, and talking to a counselor is a necessity! The following information is here to guide you in making a decision to fit band
into your schedule. The sample schedules below are all taken from students who are currently in the ZB Band Program.

*Students may receive a PE waiver for one

Many students use the waiver to Study Hall,
but another option can be to take Health

for electives in future years.

Students in the NJROTC Program
who take Naval Science receive a PE
Waiver for the entire year. There have
been band students in NJROTC whove
taken a full load of honors classes
and also participated on drill/rifle team!

Want another elective? You can sign up for

Computer Tech which is offered over the
summer. Get ahead in credits and be ready
to use technology for Freshman year!

Remember that participation in band earns you a PE Waiver for the fall semester. You do not have to take PE Freshman or Sophomore year if you are
in band, nor will you need to take summer PE. A lot of students use their PE Waiver for a Study Hall but many use it to take an elective they
normally would not be able to. Half of the band students choose to take Driver Education outside of school before Sophomore year, but it is not
required to fit band in. About 80% of Freshmen in band are taking a foreign language their first two years. We have dealt with all sorts of scheduling
combinations over the years. If you want to be in band, we will make it work!
