HIGHWAY TOLL TAX SYSTEM

HIGHWAY TOLL TAX SYSTEM

HIGHWAY TOLL TAX SYSTEM

A toll road is a privately or publicly built road for

which a driver pays a toll (a fee) for use. Structures for
which tolls are charged include toll bridges and toll
tunnels. Non-toll roads are financed using other sources
of revenue, most typically fuel tax or general tax funds.
The building or facility in which a toll is collected may
be called a toll booth, toll house, toll plaza, toll
station, toll bar or toll gate. This building is usually
found on either side of a bridge and at exits
When the approaching road sign includes the word
"Toll," We're about to enter a section of the highway
where we have to pay for access. We need to be ready
with cash or a valid pass -- because well be paying not
only for a well-maintained roads and convenient
facilities, but also for roadside services like expedient
first aid, State Police help, disabled vehicle dispatch,
quality directions, and other assistance.

HIGHWAY TOLL TAX SYSTEM

HIGHWAY TOLL TAX SYSTEM

The System is related to Electronic toll collection is

a generally mature technology that allows for electronic
payment of highway tolls. It takes advantage of vehicle to
roadside communication technologies to perform an
electronic monetary transaction between a vehicle
passing through a toll station and a toll agency.
Currently the Academy depends on its manual
processing for executing its Tax calculation process. The
processes are being done in paper format which
consumes lot of time of System as well as the
Employees.
This affects the over all system and prevents it
from groving in to a large organisation. Handling of
large scale of Taxing of vehicles becomes difficult
without a proper computerised system. It also allows
system to save money as well as time.
For the Manager and Workers, the System has to
follow certain rules and regulations made by the
respected Authority about their working hours and
shifts.
The System is simply designed to add, save,
search, delete and update the records of every vehicle
passing through the Toll Plaza as per the rules and
regulations for easy retrieval and storage to help the
System staff to speed up their working.

HIGHWAY TOLL TAX SYSTEM

10

HIGHWAY TOLL TAX SYSTEM

The System is mainly created to make the

operation in the exchange of the paper work that is
time to time Supervision, Storing data, Updating data,
Saving data is done manually, through the
computerised system to make it fast for day-to-day use.
The scope of the system is very wide that it can
maintain the book of records and database to give
timely & accurate reports to the management for the
purpose to help out paper errors in terms of coding
technology through validation of the data.
This system is very useful to manage whole
records and it saves the records to lose not only for
short period of time but can be extend as per the
requirement.
Simple implementation of automatic toll collection
process. To maximizes efficiency and effectiveness of toll
collection while minimizing traffic impacts. To focus
specifically in identifying and assessing available toll
collection technologies

11

HIGHWAY TOLL TAX SYSTEM

12

HIGHWAY TOLL TAX SYSTEM

To design and develop a system as friendly as

possible.
To reduce clerical work
This not only reduces manual work but also
time and storage requirments.
To provide the reports related to Employees
salary,Tax chart,Tax Receipt and
Perday,Weekly,Monthly Vehicle Reports.
The searching of a particular record will be very
efficient.
Helps maintaning a Employees and Tax related
database which can be used for saving, adding
and viewing the records of Vehicles as the case
may be.

13

HIGHWAY TOLL TAX SYSTEM

To improve data accuracy, integrity,

consistency, retrieval of information and
processing speed.

14

HIGHWAY TOLL TAX SYSTEM

At the time of system or before starting actual

work of system. Analyst has to collect information
about manual system from the user for which the
system is going to be developed. In order to collect this
information, system analyst prefers any one of the
following fact finding techniques or prefer two or more
fact finding techniques according to the situation :1)Interview
2)Questionnaire
3)Record view
4)Observation
We followed technique of Observation and Recore
review.
OBSERVATION :This method held to gather most of information
required for the system. We observed the
roadways where the Toll Tax System is carried on
for taking knowledge to make it more efficient
who gave over view of system to be developed.
RECORD VIEW :Ample amount of information was collected by the
organization which are maintained by the System
to manage records.

HIGHWAY TOLL TAX SYSTEM

These tests of feasibility study were undertaken for

this project. They are :
a. Operational feasibility.
b. Technical feasibility.
c. Economical feasibility.

Operational Feasibility :To test the Operational feasibility of the

proposed system the following standards were
used via:
Does there is enough support for the users
with the current system?
Do the users have any problem with the
current system?
Will the proposed system cause any difficulty?
As the demand enhanced user friendly
system has directly come from the user.User
already has a knowledge of MS Acess and
Microsoft Visual Studio 2008.Being GUI there is
no need for training the user. The next point to be
taken is that will the system cause any difficulty
but to implement a system, it passes through a
series of investigation session there by
considering whether the system is adequate to
the users need or not. There for the system is
operationally feasible.

Technical Feasibility:-

17

HIGHWAY TOLL TAX SYSTEM

While considering the technical feasibility some basic

queries which are asked by the organization, must be
answered:
Will the proposed system provide adequate
sequence to expertise regardless of the number of
locations?
Can the system be upgraded if further
development arises?
Does the proposed equipment have the capacity to
hold the data required using the new system?
Are there technical guarantee of accuracy,
reliability, exactness, Access data security etc.?

The manpower required for computerized system is less

than in the early required system. Also the project
needs nothing new Hardware/software as it is
comfortable with the existing system. The requirement
for the system is to purchase Visual Basic 6 and MS
Access packages.

Economical Feasibility:A technologically feasible project need not be always

economically feasible and there has to be heavy
investment from the point of view of organization. But
here all the hardware facility is available; question of
heavy investment does not arise. The maintenance
stem is quiet cheaper.

WHITE BOX

White-box testing is a method of testing

software that tests internal structures or
workings of an application as opposed to its
functionality.An internal perspective of the
system, as well as programming skills, are
required and used to design test cases. The
tester chooses inputs to exercise paths through
the code and determine the appropriate outputs.
It is analogous to testing nodes in a circuit.
White-box test design techniques include:

Control flow testing

Data flow testing

Branch testing

Path testing

22

HIGHWAY TOLL TAX SYSTEM

BLACK BOX
It is a Software testing technique whereby
the internal workings of the item being tested are
not known by the tester. For example, in a black
box test on software design the tester only knows
the inputs and what the expected outcomes
should be and not how the program arrives at
those outputs. The tester does not ever examine
the programming code and does not need any
further knowledge of the program other than its
specifications.
The advantages of this type of testing
include:

The test is unbiased because the designer

and the tester are independent of each other.
The tester does not need knowledge of any
specific programming languages.
The test is done from the point of view of the
user, not the designer.
Test cases can be designed as soon as the
specifications are complete.

The disadvantages of this type of testing

include:

23

HIGHWAY TOLL TAX SYSTEM

The test can be redundant if the software

designer has already run a test case.
The test cases are difficult to design.
Testing every possible input stream is
unrealistic because it would take an
inordinate amount of time; therefore, many
program paths will go untested. For a complete
software examination, both white box and black box tests are
required.

HIGHWAY TOLL TAX SYSTEM

LIMTATIONS
The System needs to maintain large amount
of information.
The employee may sometimes go wrong or
manually skip some important information
which may create a problem to the
Management to retrieve the particular
information.
The basic problem of the current system is
large amount of space to keep overall data.
Over-Utilization of space for storage of Staff,
Vehicle, and Journey details and TOLLTAX
transactions.
The system needs a machine to take out the
receipt for the payment of Toll to the
customer.
Toll tax payment can only done through the
cash and not with other any type of payment
system.

64

HIGHWAY TOLL TAX SYSTEM

65

HIGHWAY TOLL TAX SYSTEM

Even though this project provide an easy way to

operate the Toll tax system. It does not contain
some features like online Toll payment, Payment
with smart card or credit card.
The best result can be obtained only when a
single user operates the system and all its
records are maintained by him or her.
This system can be made more advance as per
the requirements of the user.
