Business Description
Upstream Americas searches for and recovers oil and natural gas across the Americas. The business is
organized into four major key resource development lines, which include Deep Water, Exploration and
Commercial, Heavy Oil, and Onshore Gas.

Exploration strategy focuses on material opportunities in proven hydrocarbon basins. We aim to drive
discoveries to production quickly and efficiently.
Internship Description:
Shell Canada Ltd. is currently seeking a Mining Engineering intern student for a 4 or 8 month work term
beginning in May 2016.
The Mining Engineering student could be responsible for:
Project engineering and optimization studies including analyzing mining options and costs
Providing production and equipment data analysis to form mine planning standards
Assist in asset reserve estimation
Mine reclamation and closure planning including geomorphic design of current and proposed mine
features
Providing the Mine Operations, Mine Technical, and Project Engineer support as required
Assisting with developing 10-Year Business Plans or Life of Mine Plans including:
Ore Waste scheduling
Dump/Dyke Planning
Equipment Planning
Tailings Planning
Mine dewatering assessment and planning
Mine infrastructure routing and layout.
Reclamation Planning
OPEX/CAPEX Forecasting

Centre, Calgary Place, and Livingston Place, which are all within a few blocks of each other.

Public transportation is readily available for employees; driving/parking downtown is not advisable.

instructions on how to begin the two-part, online assessment. You will receive notification of your
outcome upon completion.
Part One: A series of competency based questions (not timed)
Part Two: If you successfully complete part one, you will be invited to complete part two which consists
of:

a. A decision-making task (not timed), and


b. A problem-solving task (timed)
The entire process takes time to complete (allow 15 minutes for the general application, 20 minutes for
Part One and 45 minutes for Part Two) so we encourage you to begin the process well before the
ranking deadline. Note that you can save your work on the exercises and return to it at a later time with
the only exception being the timed, problem-solving task.
