Differentiated performance method

Learning method
This learning method is a mutual proceeding of a teacher with his students,
in order to achieve the pedagogical targets, a way to proceed which tends to place
a student in a learning environment, while the teacher is conducting it more or
less, a fundamental element of the pedagogical strategies.
Also, it is based on treating students differently, respecting the principle of
age and individual particularities in teaching-learning, moreover it is based on the
numerous advantages which imply learning through cooperation and through
competition.
Competition becomes destructive in a harmonious educational environment
only when it is exaggerated and it becomes a purpose. Teachers must balance the
two forms of organization, creating learning opportunities focused on group
activities which favor cooperation and maintain constructive competition.

Differentiated progress
For the differentiated performance method, the two manners of competition and cooperation
become didactic processes, which are customizations of the central method. The didactic process is a
sequence of the method. There are several processes linked and united together, specific to a studying
environment or situation, which shapes a new method. This develops another situation related to scientific
research in which discoveries are made and the truth is revealed. The received information is connected to
the current educational context.
I plead for this type of studying, even though sometimes it might generate competition amongst
groups, sustaining the changes of traditional learning manners, taking into consideration that individualism
and competition promoted in a balanced way democratic educational practices and cooperative lead to
stimulating the participation of students and the improvement of their results

The technical presentation of the method

The students are divided into three groups, which can be named after flowers, animals and so on.
Each group can choose its name. and it will have a secretary, also chosen democratically by the members
of that group. The secretary will deal with all the organizational problems of the group. Each member will
have a small picture representing his team, attached to his vest.
In a class there are small boards (4-5), and the big board will be split in the same amount of
columns, so all students from a group can be called up at the same time. The teacher will write exercise
sets on the board for each student apart, she will do so in a different manner for the level of knowledge

and intellectual development of each. By knowing the placement of each student, the teacher knows at
which board the student will work. The group organization is very important and the style in which
everyone knows their task.
While a group is solving the first round of exercises on the boards, the remaining students, the so called
mistake detectives are checking whether their colleagues solved the exercises correctly. In order, the
other two groups will be called up to the boards.
On a panel there will be the results . A board named Skillful Grammar or The Skillful
Mathematicians, depending on the subject in which this method is used.
The results awarded to each student team will be recorded with a marker on the result panel under the
form of dots, stars, circles, etc. At the end of the lesson, all groups will be rated (these being balanced
based on the intellectual performance), and in an individual way as well, rating each student. Diplomas
and prizes (stickers, sweets, and key rings) will be awarded.

Comparative analysis:
Traditional methods
-focused on the teacher
-focused on the teaching style, on the transmission of knowledge
-requires the refreshable information
-reduced applicable character
-promotes competition
-rigid guide of the instruction phase

Modern methods
-focused on studying, exploration, action
-active participation
-encourages the creativity and the thinking of the students
-promotes cooperation
-democratic management relations

Conclusions:
The teacher who does not allow and encourage the diversity of operations dealing with problems
places horse glasses on the students intellect, narrowing their vision only in the direction in which the
teacher agrees.
