Overview:
Youth Entrepreneurs (YE) is a hands-on elective class and alumni program. Through games and experiences, YE fosters
values-based thinking, promotes positive character development, and teaches business, economics and Principled Entrepreneurship.
What YE students learn provides a pathway to prosperity, whether that is in higher education, starting a career or creating their own
business.
Grading:
The grade that you earn for the course will be based on the following:
Formative Assessments (PowerPoints, short quiz, Posters etc.) = 30%
Summative Assessment (Cumulative Exams) = 30%
Classwork and assignments = 30%
Bellringer/Start-ups = 9%
Attendance = 1%

Summative Assessments: Students will take 4 summative/cumulative exams over the course of the block. These are worth 40% of the
overall grade for this class. Students should do their best each time, as the grade is determined by the average of all tests in this
category or the last test taken, whichever is higher.
The Best Deal: Going into the post-test, earning a higher letter grade on your post-test/final than your overall class grade will raise
your overall class grade 1 letter grade.
Classroom Expectations and Procedures: In addition to the student handbook containing school rules, below is a list of
rules of particular significance in my classroom. Failure to follow these expectations will result in a referral to the office.
Talking over me is unacceptable.
Be prepared: Bring your supplies with you to class. If you do not have a pen/pencil and paper, check
with your peers.
Bathroom Break: You MUST have your student ID visibly on you to use the bathroom, as well as have
me sign your pass (see bottom of syllabus).
Respect yourself; respect others; respect your school.
Attendance and Late work Policy:
In order to be successful in class, you must be in class. It is imperative that you come to school daily; however, in
the event of an absence you must attend school on Friday of that same week. Students must flex in order to earn credit for a
class. Failure to flex will result in failure of that class, regardless of your grade in the class; this is school policy. All
classwork for weeks 1-4 MUST be turned in prior to the Midterm Exam. I will not collect late work past the due date. All
classwork for weeks 5-8 MUST be turned in the Friday before the Final Exam. I will not receive any late work of any kind
after that date. You can retrieve your missing work online at: www.mspimental.weebly.com
Technology agreement:
The use of technology resources is a privilege, not a right. Students are responsible for:
Using computers in a responsible and ethical manner.
Obeying general school rules concerning behavior and communication that apply to
iPad/computer use. Games. Facebook, Twitter, etc. shall not be accessed on the
computers.
Other prohibited activities include: installing inappropriate screensavers; illegal
installation of copyrighted materials; viewing, disbursing, sharing, downloading, or

accessing offensive, threatening, profane, obscene, pornographic or malicious

materials; and/or vandalism including creating or downloading viruses.
Materials:
Pen/pencil, Paper (lots of paper you will write everyday), folder to keep work in.
