TEACHERS DAY

A very good morning to the Principal, teachers and all the students of SMK Sagil.
Here I stand today to give a speech in conjunction with the celebration of Teachers' Day
in our school.
Teachers' Day is a very important day to all of us because this is the day when we
can show our love to teachers for all their hardwork and effort they put on us because
they want to see us become successful citizens of the future.
The theme of the Teachers' Day celebration this year is 'My Teacher, My Friend'. It is
true that we should all regard our teachers as our dear friends because they are
together with us throughout the years. Teachers, therefore, should be respected and we
must be obliged to them for the whole of our lives.
Teachers play many important roles which are very valuable. Firstly, they are a guide
to us. They guide us not only when teaching but also after teaching session ends.
Without teachers' proper guidance, students will not fare well in their studies. Teachers
also guide their students properly on their choice of career. In fact, students need the
guidance of their teachers every moment in their lives. If they face any problems other
than studies, teachers are also always ready to guide them.
Secondly, teachers too are good motivators to all of us. Each time they enter the
class, we are motivated by their encouraging words. Teachers motivate their students to
study smart in order to achieve good results. Other than studies, we are also motivated
to take part in extracurricular activities because of their encouragement.
Apart from motivating us, teachers can also be private counsellors to all students.
When we face problems, be it personal or not, we can always depend on teachers to
help us find the solution. Teachers act as counsellors whenever there are discipline
problems in schools as well. After proper counselling sessions, even naughty students
turn over a new leaf.
In addition to all the mentioned roles, teachers are our source of knowledge. We can
rely on them to give us any kind of knowledge that we want. If we find difficulties in
understanding the contents of a book, teachers will gladly simplify the contents for us
and make us understand well.

The roles of teachers cannot be expressed merely by words, so today we have

organised many wonderful activities to celebrate Teachers' Day. There will be a choir
which will be participated by all our teachers. After that, students will give away gifts to
teachers as a token of appreciation.
We will also have a cake cutting ceremony and teachers will play games with
students. Many friendly matches have been organised between teachers and students.
Next, we will be entertained by presentation organised by students. They will perform
traditional dances for the teachers. Finally, there will be a session for special awards to
teachers. Our principal will give away the awards.
Let us all join our hands together and make today's Teachers' Day celebration a
memorable one. Thank you.
