Ahrens, Virginie
Virginie Ahrens is Content Strategist and Information Development Manager at IBM
France R&D Lab. She has worked in the software industry for over 25 years as technical
translator, localization manager, information architect, and digital content strategist.
She is currently investigating new ways of designing and localizing content by
leveraging cloud and cognitive technologies developed at IBM.

Appenzeller-Winterberger, Claudia
Claudia Appenzeller-Winterberger has been Managing Director of Swiss Academics of
Arts and Sciences since April 2016. Before she served as scientific employee at the Federal
Office of Public Health and a Co-Project Manager of the Project Public Health Portal.
As generalist with great fascination for the interplay between science, public
management and communication, Claudia Appenzeller stands for an intensive and
multidisciplinary cooperation of the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences.

Awaiss, Henry

Wolfram Baur
A freelance technical translator since 1993, Wolfram BAUR has specialized in the fields
of power plant engineering and infrastructure development, and has worked since then
for major energy utilities, construction companies and governmental authorities. From
1997 to 2014 he served in various roles at the German Bundesverband der Dolmetscher
und bersetzer (BD).

Berthet, Stphane
Stphane Berthet, docteur en astronomie, astrophysique de lUniversit de Genve.
Depuis 2003, Secrtaire gnral de l'Universit de Genve. De 1992 2003 reprsentant
de la Suisse au sein dorganisations internationales comme notamment l'Agence spatiale
europenne (ESA) et l'Observatoire astronomique europen (ESO). De 2001 2003, vicedirecteur du Bureau suisse des affaires spatiales. Membre depuis 2004 et vice-prsident
ds 2012 de la Commission fdrale des affaires spatiales suisses (CFAS).

Cheng, Wei
Dr. Cheng Wei, is Dean of School of Interpreting and Translation, Beijing International
Studies University. Her research interests are translation studies and cross-cultural
communication. Her publications include over 20 academic articles, 8 translation works,
and 3 textbooks in translation studies and cross-cultural studies. She also works as a parttime translator for China central television and 2020 World Leisure Congress. She is now
chairing a government funded research projects on norms of translating Chinese fictions.

Cleary, Yvonne
Yvonne Cleary is a lecturer in Technical Communication, and Program Director for the
MA in Technical Communication and E-Learning at the University of Limerick, Ireland.
She holds an MA and a PhD in technical communication. Her research interests include
professional issues in technical communication, technical communication pedagogy,
virtual teams, and international technical communication.

Defrancq, Bart
Bart Defrancq is an Associate Professor of interpreting and legal translation at Ghent
University. Trained as a linguist and an interpreter, he obtained his PhD in linguistics
at Ghent university. He is also affiliated to the College of Europe as an expert on EU
terminology and legal terminology. His research interests are in corpus-based
interpreting and translation research. Bart Defrancq is a Board member of CIUTI.

Duflou, Veerle
Drawing on ethnographic data gathered in the course of a PhD study on 'Be(com)ing an
EU interpreter', the presentation will look into the following questions: Why is it that
there is such a gap between the expertise conference interpreting graduates have
acquired when they have successfully completed their training and that which is
required to function as a competent professional in an EU context? - Could training
programs be adapted or complemented in order to diminish this gap, or are there
fundamental differences between what can be learned in a school and in a workplace
environment?

Ehrensberger-Dow, Maureen
Maureen Ehrensberger-Dow is Professor of Translation Studies in the same institute.
Over the last 10 years, both of them have been involved in federally-funded projects that
focus on the development of translation competence as well as socio-technical issues
associated with professional translation.

Feder, Marcin
Marcin Feder has worked at the European Parliament since 2003, first as an interpteter
in the Polish booth, then as Head of the Polish Interpretation Unit and is now Head of
the Interpreter Support and Training Unit. He studied at Adam Mickiewicz University
(MA in English and PhD in Linguistics) and Monterey Institute of International Studies
(Junior Fulbright Scholarship). His main interests are new technologies to support
interpreters and the use of tablets in the booth.

Fink-Hooijer, Florika
Dr. Florika Fink-Hooijer is the Director-General of DG SCIC. A lawyer by training, she
has a proven track record in external policy and security matters as well as extensive
experience in inter-institutional and intergovernmental affairs. In each of her
assignments at senior level she helped instilling a culture of transparency, accountability
and change and is recognized for her strong management and leadership skills as well
as her in-depth experience in EU policy making & shaping.

Forstner, Martin
Martin Forstner (PhD) is full professor of intercultural communication (Arabic) at the
University of Mainz (Germany). He has published extensively on translation policy and
lectured in several European and non-European universities. He was President and
Secretary General of CIUTI. He is co-organizer of the CIUTI -Forum.

Gallez, Emmanuelle
Emmanuelle Gallez graduated as a translator and a conference interpreter (ISTI,
Brussels). In her doctoral dissertation (2014, KU Leuven) she analyzed the impact of the
court interpreter on the defendants identity in an authentic Assize court trial. Her main
research interests include pragmatics, discursive identity construction, rhetoric and
power constellation in interpreted courtroom interactions. She currently works at the
Faculty of Economics and Business and at the Faculty of Arts of the KU Leuven.

Garbovsky, Nikolay
Nikolay Garbovskiy is the founder and director of the HSTI, Lomonosov Moscow State
University, Honorable Professor, laureate of the Lomonosov Prize for pedagogical activity
(2004), Vice-President of CIUTI, Chair of CIUTI Train the Trainer Working Group, editor-inchief of the Bulletin of Moscow University. Series 22. Translation Theory, member of editorial
board of Babel.

Gentile, Paola
Paola Gentile holds a MA in conference interpreting and last April she obtained her PhD
at the University of Trieste. Her Ph.D. research investigated the self-perceived
professional status of conference and public service interpreters. She is currently a postdoc researcher at the University of KU Leuven in Antwerp. She is a freelance conference
and public service interpreter with English, Spanish and Dutch.

Graves, Alison
Alison Graves is Head of Unit for Interpreter Training and Contacts with Universities,
DG Interpretation and Conferences, European Parliament. She was trained as an
interpreter at the University of Bath, UK and began her professional conference
interpreting career working freelance in Brussels for the EU institutions and private
clients. She became a civil servant with the European Parliament in 1991. Throughout
her time working in the English booth, she contributed to different training initiatives
and became responsible for study visits and awareness-raising activities. Since 2010 she
has been Head of Unit for Interpreter Training and Contacts with Universities.

Holzer, Peter
Peter HOLZER, PhD, Studied Romance Studies, Translation Studies and Law at the
Universities of Innsbruck and Munich. He holds a PhD in Translation Studies, is
Professor at the Department of Translation Studies of the University of Innsbruck. Main
research topics: translation theory, cultural studies, legal translation, literary
translation.

Youyi, Huang
Huang Youyi, a translator and editor for more than 40 years, served as vice president of
the International Federation of Translators (FIT) and the vice president and editor-inchief of the China International Publishing Group. Currently he is executive vice
president of Translators Association of China (TAC), vice president of the China Academy
of Translation and Interpretation, chairman of the China National Committee on
Graduate TI Education, and chief editor of the Chinese Translators Journal.

Huber Kodbaye, Sophie

Sophie Huber Kodbaye is the Director of the Centre for Continuing and Distance
Education at the University of Geneva.A historian by training, she started training
professionals in 2001 working with an NGO dedicated to the advancement of the
protection of human rights. From 2005, she joined CASIN and organized training
programs for diplomats and high-level civil servants from the DPRK, Iraq, Algeria and
Guinea among others. Sophie joined the Graduate Institute of International and
Development Studies in 2008 to run both customized and open-enrolment programs in
Geneva and in the field. Sophie holds a PhD in International Affairs from the Graduate
Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva.

Kamer Diehl, Christine

Christine Kamer Diehl is Head of Quality Manager at SwissGlobal Language Services and
responsible for the successful implementation and certification ISO 9001:2015 and ISO
17100:2015. Also, Christine is the central contact for all partners in the field of training
and further education. Christine Kamer Diehl completed her T&I studies at the former
Dolmetscherschule Zurich/(today ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences).

Korpal, Pawel
Pawe Korpal is an assistant professor at the Faculty of English of Adam Mickiewicz
University in Pozna. His research interests include: stress management,
psycholinguistics of interpreting and the eye-tracking method in translation and
interpreting. He is involved in the projects related to stress/emotions in conference
interpreting as well as numerical data processing in simultaneous interpreting.

Kostikova, Olga
Olga Kostikova is Associate professor and Vice-Dean for Research & International
Relations of the HSTI Lomonosov Moscow State University. Since 1998 she has been
working as a T&I trainer at the Lomonosov University. She also works as a freelance
interpreter and translator. Member of editorial board of the Bulletin of Moscow
University. Series 22. Translation Theory, coordinator of Continuing Education Seminar
on Translation Didactics.

Kozulyaev, Alexey
Alexey Kozulyaev is the head of the RuFilms School of Audiovisual Translation that
teaches audiovisual translation courses in 11 Russian universities, 2 institutions outside
Russia as well as in various online formats. Alexey pioneered research in AV translation
in Russia and currently has a considerable following in the Russian academic circles.

Kremer, Benot
Benot Kremer (1958), diplm en traduction (1981) et en interprtation de confrence
(1983) de lETI (aujourdhui FTI), universit de Genve. Traducteur et interprte de
confrence free-lance, il a prsid lAssociation internationale des interprtes de
confrence (AIIC) de 2006 2012. Il enseigne la traduction juridique allemand-franais
en MA (traduction spcialise) luniversit de Grenoble, la traduction anglais-franais
et linterprtation (simultane et conscutive) depuis langlais et lallemand la FTI.

Krouglov, Alex
Alex Krouglov holds his degrees in Translation, Interpreting and Sociolinguistics. He
worked as a translator, interpreter, editor, lecturer, assessor, advisor, project coordinator
and consultant in the UK, Ukraine, New Zealand, USA and many other countries. Before
he joined London Metropolitan University in 2007, he worked at the Foreign &
Commonwealth Office looking after the training of diplomatic staff.

Lee-Jahnke, Hannelore
Prof. Dr. Hannelore Lee-Jahnke made her career as Professor at the University of Geneva
(ETI). She was Chair of the Training Committee of FIT (3 mandates) and President of
CIUTI from 2006 to 2012. Since then she is Honorary President of CIUTI. Her research
is closely linked to translation didactics and stresses the interdisciplinary approach
linked to affective sciences and neurosciences (FNS-funded). She is member of many
scientific committees and editorial boards. Since 2003 she co-organizes the CIUTI
Forum.

Li, Zhengren
After graduating from the United Nations Interpreter and Translator Training Course in
Beijing in the summer of 1984, Mr. Li started working for the Organization in New York
in September of the same year. Transferred to the Geneva Office in 1987, Mr. Li has been
Chief of the Interpretation Service since 2008.

Liu, Qunkai
Qunkai Liu joined Alibaba Cloud Europe as Director of Business Development and
Alliance. He has more than 10 years of experiences in the innovation, management and
marketing & sales of the ICT industries. Prior to Alibaba, he held positions including
Architect at Orange Labs (Paris, Tokyo), Marketing Manager for EMEA at Orange
Business Services, Senior Marketing Manager at Huawei Technologies France. He holds
the Diploma of Engineer (Diplme dingnieur) of Telecom ParisTech and Bachelor
Degree in EE of Nanjing University, China.

Mackiewicz, Wolfgang
Wolfgang Mackiewicz is Honorary Professor of English Philology at FU Berlin. He was
CEL/ELC president (1997-2013), rapporteur of the High Level Group on Multilingualism
(2006-07), advisor to both the European Commission and the Council of Europe, and
co-ordinator of a total of nine EU development and network projects in the area of
languages. Translation and interpreting has always been one of his key fields of interests.

Massey, Gary
Gary Massey is director of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting at the Zurich
University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) and Maureen Ehrensberger-Dow is Professor of
Translation Studies in the same institute. Over the last 10 years, both of them have been
involved in federally-funded projects that focus on the development of translation
competence as well as socio-technical issues associated with professional translation.

Massion, Franois
Franois Massion is director of D.O.G. GmbH. He is a member of the Advisory Board of
the DIT (Deutsches Institut fr Terminologie). He has a teaching assignment in
terminology at the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences and in translation technologies
at the German Department of the BFSU University in Beijing. Franois Massion's main
professional interests are translation technologies, terminology science and semantic
and knowledge technologies.

Mller, Michael
Mr. Michael Mller is Director General at the United Nations Office, Geneva. His
experience includes more than 30 years as an international civil servant in the United
Nations. He was Executive Director of the Kofi Annan Foundation from 2008 to 2011 and
served as the Secretary-Generals Special Representative for Cyprus (2006-2008) and
Director for Political, Peacekeeping and Humanitarian Affairs in the Office of the
Secretary-General (2001-2006), also serving concurrently as Deputy Chief of Staff for the
last two years of that period. Between 1997 and 2001 he was the Head of the Office of the
Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs at UN headquarters in New York. He served
in different capacities in Iran, Mexico, Haiti and Geneva, where he started his career in
1979 with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Born in 1952 in
Copenhagen, Mr. Mller completed a Masters course in International Relations at Johns
Hopkins University and a Bachelors degree in International Relations from the
University of Sussex, United Kingdom.

Momal-Vanian, Corinne
Ms. Corinne Momal-Vanian is the new Director of Conference Management at the
United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG). She has worked for over twenty-seven years
for the United Nations, spending many years at the Organizations Headquarters in New
York and its Office at Geneva as well as in its Regional Commissions in Baghdad and
Bangkok. Her previous positions include that of Director of the United Nations
Information Service and spokesperson for the United Nations in Geneva, Senior Political
Adviser to the Director-General of the UNOG, Special Assistant to the Secretary-General
and Special Assistant to the Deputy Secretary-General. She also worked for six years in
oversight for the Joint Inspection Unit of the United Nations system. Prior to joining the
United Nations, she worked as a junior consultant in public management with the
Institut de Management Public in Paris.

Morard, Bernard
De nationalit franaise, M. Bernard Morard est professeur de contrle de gestion
l'Universit de Genve. Il est titulaire d'un doctorat de gestion et d'un doctorat d'Etat de
l'Universit d'Aix Marseille III.Ses recherches et publications portent sur les domaines
de la comptabilit analytique, du contrle de gestion et de la finance.

Nyfeler, Martin
Martin Nyfeler joined CLS Communication AG in 2010 as Group Controller and was later
appointed Group CFO. In 2016, he has been appointed COO of CLS Communication,
Switzerland. Before joining CLS, he worked for several years in finance-related positions in the
airline, audit and consulting industries

Outzen, Nyegaard Mads

Mads Nyegaard Outzen, Adviser to the Director-General of DG Translation at the European
Parliament, holds an MA in Romance Philology (Italian) and Semiotics. Since 2013, he has
worked in an advisory role on Translation Matters in DG Translation, where he had previously
worked as a translator for seven years. Prior experiences include university lecturing and
translation of fiction and non-fiction.

Perret, Matthew,
BA Hons Modern Languages, University of Oxford, 1989-1993 Freelance conference
interpreter, EU accredited, AIIC member, 2001-present Former staff interpreter DG SCIC
(European Commission) 1995-2000 Interpreter-trainer at Universities of Leeds (UK),
Zurich and Shanghai Writer and performer of comedy and online interpreter training
materials (ORCIT)

Philips, James
James Phillips is the Director of the PCT Translation Division at WIPO. James has a
background in audio engineering in the UK and Japan coupled with 20 years private and
6 years public sector experience in the international translation industry. Geoffrey
Westgate is Head of the Support Section, PCT Translation Division, WIPO. After
obtaining a DPhil from the University of Oxford, Geoffrey worked as a translator/reviser
in WIPOs patent translation division and now has responsibility for CAT tools,
translation distribution, and terminology management.

Prieto Ramos, Fernando

Fernando PRIETO RAMOS is Full Professor and Dean at the University of Geneva's
Faculty of Translation and Interpreting, as well as director of its Centre for Legal and
Institutional Translation Studies (Transius). He has published widely on legal
translation, and has received several research and teaching awards, including an
International Geneva Award and a Consolidator Grant. He has also translated for several
organizations since 1997, including five years as an in-house translator at the World
Trade Organization.

Roukens, Jan
Jan Roukens (Bandung, 1937) graduated from the Technical University Delft in the
Netherlands (1961). He worked for companies in the IT sector, the field of health
information in particular and founded international professional organizations in that
field. In 1981 he joined the European Commission in Brussels and Luxembourg for IT and
Language policies until retirement (2002). He is board member of several language and
cultural organizations since then.

Sell, Cathy
Cathy Sell holds a PhD from Monash University where she currently teaches translation
and Japanese. She is a NAATI accredited professional translator specialising in fine arts
and popular culture. Her primary research interests relate to multimodal
communication, including translation and semiotics in Japanese art museums, and the
study of manga as an intercultural medium.

Van der Meer, Jap

Jaap van der Meer was the founder and CEO of some of the largest global translation
and localization service companies in the 1980s and 1990s. In 2005 he founded the
Translation Automation User Society (TAUS). TAUS is an innovation think tank and
platform for industry-shared services for the global translation and localization sector.
Many of the largest IT companies, government translation bodies and their suppliers of
translation and localization services and technologies are members of TAUS. TAUS

offers among others a platform for translation quality evaluation and benchmarking and
a platform for pooling and sharing of translation memory data. Jaap van der Meer has
written many articles over the years about the translation industry.

Viezzi, Maurizio
Maurizio Viezzi is professor of interpreting at the University of Trieste and adjunct
professor of Italian translation and interpreting at the University of Turku. He has
published extensively on different aspects of translation and interpreting and lectured
in several European and non-European universities. He was President of the European
Language Council and is currently President of CIUTI.

Westgate, James Phillips

James Phillips is the Director of the PCT Translation Division at WIPO. James has a
background in audio engineering in the UK and Japan coupled with 20 years private and
6 years public sector experience in the international translation industry. Geoffrey
Westgate is Head of the Support Section, PCT Translation Division, WIPO. After
obtaining a DPhil from the University of Oxford, Geoffrey worked as a translator/reviser
in WIPOs patent translation division and now has responsibility for CAT tools,
translation distribution, and terminology management.

Wetzel, Michael
20+ years experience in language technologies and applications such as globalisation, and
content management systems as well as text mining, enterprise search, multilingual
classifications and nomenclatures. Michael is addicted to all kinds of terminology, taxonomy,
ontology, enterprise vocabulary, thesaurus and related methods to structure and leverage
multilingual knowledge.

Wylin, Bert
Bert Wylin Bert Wylin (MA Applied Linguistics Roman languages) has both an
academic and a business profile. He works at the K.U.Leuven since 1993, doing research
in the fields of technology supported teaching and (language) learning. In 2001, he
founded a spin-off company, now Televic Education, to develop educational multimedia
products and services, e-assessment and e-learning mainly. He manages and consults
Televic Education educational e-assessment projects (mainly publishers, (high) schools,
hospitals and major companies).

Yu, Eric
Eric Yu is CEO of Global Tone Communication Technology Co., Ltd (GTCOM). During
his tenure at China Translation Corporation and GTCOM, Eric Yu has successfully
explored an innovative operation mode from the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, 2010
Shanghai Expo, etc. In addition, relying upon the Internet/mobile Internet and taking
advantage of the globally leading technologies such as language big data and cloud
computing, Yu and his team members have established the YeeSight big data service
and YeeCloud platform, and developed a wide range of products including YeeKit,
YeeCaption, FindYee App, and others. He was invited to serve as Secretary-General of
the Language Big Data Alliance.

Zhang, Irene Ailing

Prof. Dr. Irene A Zhang is Dean of Graduate Institute of Interpretation and Translation
(GIIT), Shanghai International Studies University (SISU). She is an active conference
interpreter, interpreter trainer and conducts research in interpreting and related fields.

Zhao, Junfeng
Junfeng Zhao holds a PhD in forensic linguistics, and is Dean of the School of
Interpreting and Translation Studies (SITS), Guangdong University of Foreign Studies
(GDUFS). He is the Secretary General of China National Committee for Translation and
Interpreting Education, council member of the Translators Association of China (TAC),
TAC Deputy Director of Legal Translation Committee , Vice President and Director of
the Legal Translation Committee, Translators Association of Guangdong Province.
