Abstract

Anattractivemethodofincreasingtransmissionlinethermalrating(uprating)involvesreplacingtheoriginal(typically)
steelreinforcedaluminumconductor(ACSR)withahightemperature,lowsag(HTLS)conductorwithapproximately
thesamediameterastheoriginalconductor.Theincreaseinthermalratingofexistinglinesreconductoredwithoneof
theseHTLSconductorsvariesfrom20percentto80percent,dependingonwhetherthereplacementHTLSconductor
