Ever So Changing: A Poem

I am ever so political
I am so ever unapologetic
I speak as though I am ancient and philosophical
I am ever such the storyteller
I am passionate in all things that I do
I am ever so patriotic
I am ever so kind
I speak as though I am an activist facing hate
I am ever such the game-changer
I am creative in all things that I do
I am ever so my past
My essence was forged In the rainforest
I was molded by so many circumstances
Jamaica, Slavery, Colonialism, Rebellion, Political Oppression, Political Tension, Classism, War
Gave One Love, Gave Patwah, Gave Anansi, Gave wisdom, Gave Pride, Gave Grit
This is my culture ever so changing
I am ever so my present
My education was born in ice
I was vulnerable to so many circumstances
America, Racial tension, Recession, Student Debt, Exclusion, Scams, Political upheaval, War
Gave faith, Gave empowerment, Gave Integrity, Gave Integral Optimism, Gave Pride, Gave Grit
This is my culture ever so changing
My culture is ever so changing
Technology
Profound and fundamental
For the good and the bad
Its change, so profound and fundamental
In America
In Jamaica
We all have begun to connect to disconnect
So ever changing
Descended from the Islands of the Caribbean, landing in the nutmeg state
I am Afro-caribbean American
And I am ever so uniquely me
